I have bought a pair of Hush biker boots on ebay this morning and am very pleased. I made the dogs wait by a park bench mid-walk whilst I put in a sneaky last minute bid lol. They have forgiven me I think.

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 13:01

I have hung on to things that fit me five or six years ago when I was much smaller. I could lose the two and a bit sizes to get there, but it’s not going to happen. I don’t want to be that controlled with my eating (except for low carbing which suits me very well, but I have a love-hate relationship with that woe because I am a huge carb fiend. Most of my favourite foods are carby. I can stick to it for long periods but I always come off the wagon at some point. I’m not a moderator, I have to be all or nothing.). I’m now trying to be okay with being this size because this is the size I am - I’m alive now, I don’t exist in the past, nor in the future and I refuse to act as if I don’t count right now. It’s not easy though. The real me is slim, so I don’t feel like me when my weight creeps up too much.

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 13:05

But now I have cleared it all out! I only have what fits me now and what fits me one size down.

Like my OH said, look at it like creating more space for carefully chosen things that you really love that you can enjoy now.

whiskyremorse · 11/05/2019 13:13

Nink, that's a great way of looking at things x

justilou1 · 11/05/2019 13:15

@Ninka I have had to almost ditch carbs completely now as I get terrible migraines and my neurologist has put me on the world’s most boring keto diet. Unfortunately it’s working. It’s not all bad... I can still drink a glass or two of wine occasionally! I haven’t had sugar for over a year now. I am so dull!!!

Laska2Meryls · 11/05/2019 13:19

I wish I could now say that I am as ruthless cherries but I am much better at sending stuff back if its at all 'not sure'.. and I am now only buying in mind of my lifestyle not the one I wish to have or any work wear. ..

But sadly there still have been some exceptions, (stupidly, and because of vanity, tbh) recently. , The burgundy leather leggings which do it but .... I am really still too fat for them.. and the Moritz which still are too tight in the waist , I should have kept the bigger size, ( and in fact have reordered them in the 12 now..,even though its too late to send the old ones back (sigh,) so I was very, very stupidly vain /silly there Angry but hopefully the 10s will fit me sometime soon..
.
I have also bought summer things earlier in this season I have not worn yet , like the Blue Helena shirt, and the Janelle dresses , but I will because they are great , am just waiting for the weather! I am not at all tempted by any of the new summer dresses , and luckily all from last year do still fit , But they are the floaty maxis so v forgiving ..

Grin at the incontinence Chaminox! .( but camel is definitely not at all my colour)

Laska2Meryls · 11/05/2019 13:26

yes carbs and me are not friends weight wise, I dont have a sweet tooth, but its Wine that messes it up for me and I like the odd Gin or Aperol Spritz.. (that makes me sound like a total pisshead)

I could for ever , not eating bread, if I didnt drink wine!] .. , rice, pasta etc. I can do without.. Potatoes mostly , although I love them ,I hardly ever have them - although this time of year Jersey Royals are a bit of a struggle ..but luckily they dont come around much .. I dont eat sweet things at all , just not that bothered

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 13:26

Anyway, on a cheerier note, I thought I’d post some of my key pieces for this summer.

My Mulberry bucket bag in a peachy colour, which is a perfect accent colour for the olive/khaki I’ve got as my main summer neutral:

www.selfridges.com/TW/en/cat/mulberry-abbey-leather-bucket-bag_217-82025479-HH4335205J916/

Hmmm, can’t find a pic of my Reiss straw trilby in olive/khaki.

www.johnlewis.com/phase-eight-elvina-jacket-khaki/p3571493

Leopard print trainers from Kurt Geiger, which I can’t find a picture of either Hmm

Need some white superga-style shoes and possibly some espadrilles in a wheat/neutral.

Have got a few dresses that I’m looking forward to wearing, plus a lovely pair of khaki trousers and a coral/peachy hoodie from Hush.

Need a light jacket in a dusky pink.

ilovecherries · 11/05/2019 15:19

I have hit an all time low and spent two hours tidying and re organising all my recycled packaging, sorting what can be re-used into sizes, smoothing out all the tissue paper, and packing it all into one big box. Now I won't have an excuse for grabbing yet another new mailing bag as I can't find the right thing. Feeling smug.

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 15:30

That sounds like an all time high! I can’t wait until I have absolutely no clutter left and everything I have decided to keep is useful, functional and tidied away and properly organised. I used to live very minimally and over the years I’ve acquired more and more stuff, and I can’t abide it.

I really like those cute shorts and the budget canvas shoes posted above. I bought three great little cotton Bardot tops last year from Matalan, to wear during that glorious heatwave. On sale, so I think I only paid £8 each. I hope I can wear them again this year.

ilovecherries · 11/05/2019 17:01

I think that is true lou. My criteria for any purchase was ‘does it cover me and fasten’. Now I am much more discerning. I think much more about making outfits, and considering what jacket/shoes/accessories I have that will work with anything I’m considering. I will also never need to buy mascara or perfume again in this lifetime as these would be my emergency purchases if I was out with friends shopping as I knew that the shop wouldn’t sell my size - even places with plus sizes only sold online, so I felt I needed something I could shop for.

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 17:05

Hmmm I’ve just had a thought...is this thread meant to be mainly about hush? Or do you all discuss general fashion and outfits?

Also, I really like the outfits people have posted. It’s great to see how others style things, and you all look very nice. But I’m not sure I’m brave enough to post photos Sad - i think I look reasonably good in person but I really don’t photograph well...

Anyway I had a look back through the thread and you all have picked lovely things and there’s lots of inspiration for me. Again, sorry if I talk too much. Flowers

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2019 17:11

This thread is about everything - style, clothes, family, health etc. No subject has been untouched @Nink. You dont talk to much so please dont worry about that. When you are feeling brave please do post a photo. I post but never of my face in case i am identified. We are all very kind on here and supportive :)

ilovecherries · 11/05/2019 17:19

Oh, am going to open computer later and look at all your links, nink. And whiskey, well done on the boots.

laska, I’m trying to make peace with this is life for me now, and one that I willingly choose rather than tolerate, because it’s so much better than life before. While there is no doubt being able to walk again has a huge contribution to make, I’m conscious that my leg needs care and I shouldn’t pile weight on it. That means no alcohol for me, and very low carbs. I can’t quite get my head round the very HF of LCHF, but I’m relaxed round olive oil, I just don’t feast on saturated fat. But I won’t lie, I realised after breast reduction that food, and especially carbs, would always be my self destruct weapon of choice. And if it comes with a side of wine, so much the better. Grin. DH and I are now heading for 1000 days dry. Shock

ilovecherries · 11/05/2019 17:21

Nink, it started off nearly two years ago as about Hush, but now anything is fair game. And it’s always lovely to have new people join in. Smile

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 11/05/2019 17:25

And DH aren’t born again alcoholics btw. We just decided one year we’d had a heavy December and would stop for 100 days. Then we felt so much better we decided not to start again ‘for now’. Maybe one day but not today. By the end of our 100 days I decided to have one final attempt at weight loss.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2019 17:28

Tbh, I am a dont really get the alcohol /love or having a drink at the endo of the day. Like those that don't have a sweet tooth, I am not really into alcohol and could easily live my life without any. On the other hand i have a terrible sweet tooth and love food generally so sadly i make up for it!!

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2019 17:29

That should have said, i dont really get!!

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 17:32

Ok Smile thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Realised the link to the scarf I bought for summer doesn’t work, it’s this one.

Also have a linen mix blazer from Jaeger.

Nink the links you posted are lovely, jackets are my nemesis😂 soo tempted, yy the capsule wardrobe, I’m trying very hard to aim for that makes life so much easier, this thread encompasses life & everything in between, so not just exclusively Hush ( which I buy very little, even though I love it on others most of it sadly doesn’t suit me)
cherries my kind of person, I love it when I have tidied/sorted random cluttering up stuff I quite enjoy organising & tidying my kitchen cupboards.
I don’t drink very often, I dunno maybe spending most of my working life trying to support people with addictions, you either end up a raging alcoholic or practically tee total, I couldn’t do LC though as my diet consist mainly of bread, occasionally eat potatoes ( I hate mash though) very little meat, I have a poor appetite & not that interested in food & don’t have a sweet tooth, so it’s fairly easy for me to maintain my weight, if I had a better appetite & liked more range of food I’m sure it would be much more difficult.

twosoups1972 · 11/05/2019 18:09

ninka and melen thank you for your input on leather jackets, sounds like I should avoid All Saints especially being top heavy. Maybe I should try the Massimo Dutti one..... I'm going to look at Whistles too.

twosoups1972 · 11/05/2019 18:12

ninka I LOVE that Whistles jacket and such a good price! How is the sizing?

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 18:15

len mine too. Well, jackets/coats, bags and footwear.

I’ve just sorted out lots that no longer fit, plus about 30 pairs of shoes/boots, all going to the charity shop ASAP. 5 or 6 pairs were past their best and have been binned. Still another 10 or so pairs of new or hardly worn shoes to eBay, plus a few of my more expensive jackets, coats and bags. Can’t wait til I’ve got rid of it all. Anything I make on eBay is going toward my next handbag! Smile
