I could have spent £1000 in Zara yesterday - I didn't, very restrained but everything was gorgeous and I never usually say that about Zara - can be very hit and miss. I'm worried I'm chanelling my old 20 something me as it's all cami bias cut slip dresses and Ghost style dresses and lovely baggy chambray trousers which remind me of Dash. And if I had a wedding to go to, which I don't, there are beautiful halterneck chiffon voluminous maxi dresses in vivid colours. Anyone else loving it?

What great taste you have CountFosco ;)

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 14:11

Shein is no different to Primark ethically but more cutting edge.

I bought this from zara m.zara.com/uk/en/floral-print-dress-p04786057.html?v1=11459090&v2=1180427 but i need to turn it up. I feel like im in a perfume advert wearing it

Elllllle · 04/05/2019 14:19

I dont buy from primark either but where do you get this assumption from OP: Shein is no different to Primark ethically but more cutting edge?

optimisticpessimist01 · 04/05/2019 14:48

I'm very hit and miss with Zara, currently in a very long-term miss as they're fast fashion is awful for they're environment

I did a research project on Zara as part of my degree, some of their items are in store for a 2 week turnaround and then they're off the shelves again and new stock is in. A 2 week turn out for clothing is ridiculous and I cannot put into words how bad this is for the environment

They're clothes aren't even THAT nice!

Pengrin · 04/05/2019 14:55

I think if OP worked for Zara she wouldn’t have chosen such such awful garments to share.

I find Zara is the only place I can reliably order from online and know that it’ll be true to size.

TapasForTwo · 04/05/2019 15:22

Now, that dress is the first nice piece of clothing I have seen that Zara do wizzywig.

How tall are you?

Cottonwoolmouth · 04/05/2019 15:42

I bought a camel sweater from there Recently and it shrank in the first wash. Sad

StargazyDrifter · 04/05/2019 16:41

I've never clicks on Shein adverts but, if it's like Primark, then will give it a miss. I don't buy clothes very often but, even so, supporting that kind of thing even if I am going to wear the item for ages isn't right.

Applesbananaspears · 04/05/2019 16:48

Warehouse has some lovely pieces at the moment (keep browsing online). Is the quality good?

Yes it’s pretty good, better than Zara and I find it very well cut

Margotshypotheticaldog · 04/05/2019 17:20

Irish weddings are awesome , and generally go on for up to 3 days. You could wear the mustard dress all weekend (although everyone else would have a change of outfit for the "befores" and the "afters" Wink

fancynancyclancy · 04/05/2019 17:34

Thanks Applesbananaspears

although everyone else would have a change of outfit for the "befores" and the "afters"

Yes! It took DH a few years to understand why I could never just take hand luggage with me. 😂😂

DatsunCogs · 04/05/2019 17:39

Well OP you inspired me to go to Zara today and I bought 2 things so your marketing campaign is working Wink

DeadWife · 04/05/2019 17:57

I used to love Warehouse. It had the right fit for me waist to hip in dresses but then it seemed to go off the boil style wise?. Will have a look now.

jellyfish70 · 04/05/2019 18:10

Just got a lovely camo jacket in Shein for £17!!!!!!!

LaMarschallin · 04/05/2019 18:20

I've just Googled Irish weddings and can't find anything out of the usual run. Sorry and I'm a CF for asking, but has anybody any links or photos? I'm desperate to see what I'm missing out on Smile

Fazackerley · 04/05/2019 18:23

God. I can hardly make it through a few hours of a wedding. 3 days sounds hideous.

wizzywig · 04/05/2019 18:24

tapas im 5ft 3

TulipsTulipsTulips · 04/05/2019 18:28

How is the cut and quality? I love a lot of Zara designs, but find the fabric is cut badly and the clothes literally break. I would pay more for the same designs but better quality

BikeRunSki · 04/05/2019 18:28

I havn’t set foot in Zara for abiytb10 years since a sales assistant looked at me an said “we don’t make clothes for people as large as you”. This may have been the case, but she needn’t have been so rude. I am size 14.

Ofitck · 04/05/2019 18:38

I love Zara and ZaraHome but then I am Spanish and in Spain it is much cheaper than in the UK.

anxiousmotherof1 · 04/05/2019 18:38

Love zara !! Is my go to place ! I thibk is not very popular with the middle age english woman though . Is not boring like boden ;p

troppibambini · 04/05/2019 18:48

I love Zara.
A lot of Mumsnet won't though. Which is fine but I do think there is no need to be quite so rude.
I love the dresses you posted.
It always astounds me the love for the most hideous, frumpy makes that often get recommended on here

I like Zara, especially since I'm now 'small' enough to buy clothes in there (M-L) after I lost weight!

I have a nice zip Chanel style white & black cropped cardi that looks good with jeans, also some other knitwear basics that I like.

In the winter I bought a snakeskin print shirt dress that actually does look classier than it sounds.

I like the pink top that the OP linked to.

For me Zara is actually quite expensive! I do tend to shop in Dorothy Perkins & New Look as I get NHS discount, and in Primark as it's cheap.
I still like River Island & Topshop but again they're a bit out of budget for me usually.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 19:12

tierraJ yes it's expensive for me too - feels like treat clothes to me but I had done no spend Jan- April so had a bit of a splurge - counterproductive I know!
