Zara is killing it this SS!

I could have spent £1000 in Zara yesterday - I didn't, very restrained but everything was gorgeous and I never usually say that about Zara - can be very hit and miss. I'm worried I'm chanelling my old 20 something me as it's all cami bias cut slip dresses and Ghost style dresses and lovely baggy chambray trousers which remind me of Dash. And if I had a wedding to go to, which I don't, there are beautiful halterneck chiffon voluminous maxi dresses in vivid colours. Anyone else loving it?

Oh and I came across Zara shoes in TK Maxx once and they had to be some of the most hideous and ridiculous shoes I've ever seen. Strappy shoes with socks built in? There's pushing fashion boundaries and there's just plain daft. Hmm

fancynancyclancy · 06/05/2019 15:56

Are you lost @Sb74?

First of all you come on this thread to tell me I’m a plant (check my history if you want) & then your next helpful contribution was that many people shop in one shop. This is a thread discussing clothes we like in Zara, the clue is kinda in the title.

fancynancyclancy · 06/05/2019 15:58

The yellow dress would also be perfect for a Spanish wedding. Clearly we are much more like the Irish!

Yep, my cousin married a Spanish lady. Greek weddings are very dressy too.

DeadWife · 06/05/2019 16:04

Maybe it's my Irish roots but I also loved that dress.

Floisme · 06/05/2019 16:11

I may be totally wrong (wouldn't be the first time, as anyone who heard my Line of Duty theories last week will testify) but it sounded to me like the op was just excited because she'd seen some clothes she liked. I know that feeling.

I also know the op has chosen to laugh at all the shill comments - and good for her - but I think they're quite depressing. Yes it's a sign of how low the influencer trend has sunk (and I was regular on some of the earlier threads so I know a bit about it) but if we can't talk about brands we like without someone pointing a finger then really what's the point?

Sb74 · 06/05/2019 16:14

You’re right. Apologies. Not sure why I’m on here tbh as its not something I’m interested in discussing so I’ll leave you all to it. Have fun. That’s a genuine apology, not sarcastic.

Shoeshelpplease · 06/05/2019 17:27

Op that pink top you bought is gorgeous. I can't find it on the website, is it top trousers, jumpsuit? Can you give me a clue to find it?

Eustasiavye · 06/05/2019 17:50

I really don't think the yellow dress would suit many people. The tone is wrong for the vast majority of people. You would be hard pushed for that colour to do you any favours. Next is the fact you have to have a small very pert chest, again that discards the vast majority of people. Then it is very clingy so you'd have to be thin and carrying not one ounce of body fat as it would show through the material.
Then it is only suitable for a hot day and not suitable if it has previously rained.
Finally it's just not nice. Why would you wear that I really think the only people who could pull it off would be able to wear anything and quite frankly there are so many better dresses than that.

championquartz · 06/05/2019 17:52

Gosh I haven’t liked anything in Zara this season! And I like Zara. Yeah I hate the shops and the service and most of the fabrics but I do like their designs. I’ll have a look again tonight and see if I can see why the OP is excited.

And I don’t believe the OP is a plant. I seriously don’t think Zara need worry about advertising.

Melassa · 06/05/2019 18:28

The yellow dress is really nice, I have similar and the colour does suit many skin tones. Just not, admittedly, super pale.

Zara has been getting better although I agree the sizing is wacky on some of the cheaper stuff but it tends to be better at the more top end. I bought some limited edition items this winter and all look great on. I’m 5ft 4, small hipped but with big boobs and I somehow managed to squeeze my boobage into a slinky (non-elasticated) dress, which was a surprise.

I also have a Vivienne Westwood inspired dress I bought 2 years ago, alas it was only available in black or I’d have bought more colours. It’s one of the best dresses I have, excellent for work and great dressed up for evening.

Some seasons have been fairly dire but I’ve noticed that many of my more “designy” signature pieces are from Zara over the years.

JMAngel1 · 06/05/2019 19:11

shoeshe it's a top only, I don't like the trousers. If you out in assymetric top pink in the search term it should come up.

Floisme. yes that's exactly how it was - just genuinely excited to find clothes I truky love - it's been a while!

I’ve given up on this thread because it is one enormous, cynical product placement. Zara, pay for your advertising space just like everyone else..

fancynancyclancy · 07/05/2019 00:40

I feel like giving up on this threads because there are so many idiots who can’t seem to search posters history or just google Zara advertising.

Sb74 · 07/05/2019 07:36

Fancy, even if we search posters’ history, it doesn’t mean you couldn’t be involved in advertising for a brand??! Not sure what that proves. The idea of this being an advert is very real so no-one is being idiotic’, although I do feel a bit of an idiot as I’m not sure why I even engaged on here in the first place as it’s the most boring thread I’ve ever read. Sorry just being honest back.

Floisme · 07/05/2019 07:44

When I'm bored with a thread I normally just stop reading.

Sb74 · 07/05/2019 07:48

I have, I just got notified and had a quick look as I’m still not convinced this isn’t advertising and I have complained about that, so just intrigued.

Floisme · 07/05/2019 07:49

So not bored then?

Sb74 · 07/05/2019 07:52

The content is boring, and I’ve not read most of it as I can’t think of anything more boring than discussing clothes but that’s just me. The idea that this is advertising and shouldn’t be isn’t of course- that’s what made me read it.

Floisme · 07/05/2019 08:31

I get bored sometimes but I don’t think I’ve ever been reduced to posting repeatedly on a board I’ve no interest in, let alone reporting a thread.

We do talk about influencers quite a lot - there’s a long running thread.

fancynancyclancy · 07/05/2019 08:34

even if we search posters’ history, it doesn’t mean you couldn’t be involved in advertising for a brand??!

Have you been watching too much line of duty? I infiltrated mumsnet yrs ago & now that i’m deep undercover I can be a Zara plant.

Why don’t you read the linked article about Zara’s advertising techniques then? They have over 20m followers on instagram & uk annual sales of more than 500m. Do you think they would bother?

it’s the most boring thread I’ve ever read
As boring as you?

Floisme · 07/05/2019 08:39

I think the op is H.

fancynancyclancy · 07/05/2019 11:29

Urgent exit required

DeadWife · 07/05/2019 12:15

Grin Floisme

HepzibahGreen · 07/05/2019 12:22

Nrft but I havnt found anything in zara for years. In own a couple of lovely classic pieces from years ago, but now it's all stupid sleeves and hideous fabrics.
Warehouse otoh has been fab the last 2 years. Although NOONE seems to cut for boobs without making arm holes massive for some reason.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 07/05/2019 20:15

I can’t think of anything more boring than discussing clothes but that’s just me.

Yet you opened, read and decided to comment on a thread that was obviously from the title going to be about clothes.Confused
