Your comment was certainly in very bad taste Bertrand

Oh give over. Have you seen some of the shite that's been written on here over the past week?

GoFiguire · 05/05/2019 23:06

Philip will never die. He is the Duracell Prince

pastaparadise · 05/05/2019 23:08

For anyone who thought the curtseys some give the queen are over the top (thinking of teresa may), did anyone see the Thai King being crowned on the news? Only caught a snippet but royal relatives literally have to crawl/ slither along the floor in front of him. Would love to see our rf do that Grin

BertrandRussell · 05/05/2019 23:10

“Your comment was certainly in very bad taste Bertrand”

As I said- surrogate refusing to give up the baby, anyone?

Hairydilemma · 05/05/2019 23:12

Do you think the slithering would be compulsory even for pregnant relatives, Pasta? Can you imagine the headlines for any heavily-pregnant family members opting not to slither?! The disrespect of it!!

pastaparadise · 05/05/2019 23:18

Said slither... The guardian article said criticism of him is punishable by 15 years in jail Shock

Hope Charles doesnt get tempted to go for that sort of coronation...

Hairydilemma · 05/05/2019 23:26

The Mail would have a field day with competitive slithering comparisons!! Shock

BertrandRussell · 05/05/2019 23:30

If there had been a residual non Republican square inch of me left, the sight of an elected prime minister curtsying to a hereditary monarch in waiting nearly half her age extinguished it in double quick time........

PCohle · 06/05/2019 01:27

"But I really don’t think speculating Bout the DofE is anything like as insensitive as speculating about surrogates refusing to give up the baby......."

But the comment referring to surrogacy was "read that on Twitter though, where I also read that their surrogate is refusing to hand the newborn over "
So the poster was giving an example of something they thought was a hilariously bollocks rumour.

That seems fairly different to me than cheerfully speculating that an elderly man "is expected to die in the next few days".

costacoffeecup · 06/05/2019 04:46

Just remembering how annoying it was to be overdue and fielding all the 'how are things, any sign?' Texts. Poor Meghan might as well have the whole country texting her!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/05/2019 04:49

CNN said bookmakers have stopped taking bets now.
Apparently the money is on a Baby girl called Ivy, born last Friday.

Not so sure about Ivy. It’s Jessica Mulroney’s daughter’s name. That could play out both ways, to avoid as it’s a close friend’s daughters name. Or in honour of a close friendship.
Ivy Sussex sounds good.
Lady Ivy Windsor ( or even Lady Ivy Mountbatten Windsor)

Fingers crossed for an instagram announcement, photo and name today.

floraloctopus · 06/05/2019 06:07

I don't think that bertrand's common was in poor taste really, I over reacted to it but it's a reasonable point

TokyoSushi · 06/05/2019 06:16

I'll just leave my daily 'I think it's going to be today!' comment here! Grin

Dana28 · 06/05/2019 08:30

Bad form re DofE comment! Out of order to suggest someone's death is imminent especially without good reason

frugalkitty · 06/05/2019 08:54

The surrogate suggestion shows how bonkers some of the anti-Meghan brigade are. I read some seriously bonkers stuff a few moths back about the 'fake' bump and how the pregnancy was fake etc etc. There are some very strange people out there.

Hopefully we'll have some good baby news soon. Bet she's fed up although at least she isn't overdue and still having to do the school run like I was. I'm not keen on Ivy as a name. Iris is popular here at the moment. I still think it's a girl though. Come on Meghan!!

frugalkitty · 06/05/2019 08:55

Reading that back, I didn't mean anyone on this thread was anti Meghan, don't be offended, I meant the anti Meghan brigade on the internet in general.

Spudlet · 06/05/2019 09:32

floraloctopus Really sorry for what you're going through with your relative. We lost a very dear elderly family member just this week and the wait for the inevitable was a really hard time, even though you know it's normal and the natural course of life. You still just want them to be there forever. Flowers

And I may also brain the next person who says 'He had a good innings then' as though that makes it ok. It still hurts, even when you know it's just nature's way

floraloctopus · 06/05/2019 09:39

Sorry to hear of your loss Spudlet
I'd be inclined to brain somebody as well. I'm at the point of thinking that the inevitable would be better sooner than later but thats a whole other thread.

frugalkitty · 06/05/2019 09:56

Flowers for floral and spudlet

SlipperOrchid · 06/05/2019 10:10

I think Meghan might choose a name like Grace or Isla? No idea why and obv if the baby is a girl 😀

Hoping the birth goes smoothly for her now. It’s an anxious time for a first time mother.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/05/2019 10:37

Isla would be a MN AIBU thread worthy name

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/05/2019 10:45

I know of someone whose surname is White and called their daughter Isla! But isn't one of Peter or Zara's daughters called that?

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 06/05/2019 10:46

Yes Peters girl is what I meant, I missed Isle Sussex, the best holiday destination in the UK!

millythepink · 06/05/2019 10:50

I think Margot would be classic and timeless.
