Prince Henrik of Denmark’s birthday

I was like, “who?”.

Anyway, he’s swf Princess Marie’s son with Joachim.
Bizarrely his 2 middle sons, each by different mothers; look exactly like him.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/05/2019 22:29

Jack Brooksbank’s birthday was the same day as Princess Charlotte’s

I do wish Eugenie would ditch those sunglasses; the white line makes them look like swimming goggles. So unflattering.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 22:31

Good lord! Poor kid looks a bit uncanny valley, doesn't he? Joachim's eldest is a bit of a looker and is now a model.

The Danish royal family don't actually have a drop of Danish blood. They've been German since the 19th century. Margarethe's Mother was Swedish, she herself married a Frenchman and her sons both married foreigners too.

Prince Nikolai of Denmark in Vogue

What does “uncanny valley” mean? @Queen

SlipperOrchid · 04/05/2019 22:40

Can anybody please direct me to the Shipman article? I’ve never heard of it but it seems ‘in the know’.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 22:46

@SlipperOrchid I think it's that Times article saying H&M were planning on moving to Africa.

@CurlyWurlyTwirly basically it's when a robot looks so human that it's a bit eerie. I'm sure Henrik is a perfectly normal-looking child and it's just those photos!

If all this is true then William is coming across like a petulant child.

@Queen Thank you

no Royal reporters went to NZ for William’s trip, but covered it from the UK.

I can't really blame them, it's a LONG way to go for just 2 days!

It’s quite nice to see some women who end up in papers DGAF about wrinkles though.

Spudlet · 04/05/2019 23:13

Which is surely no bad thing in carbon footprint terms. It's not as though NZ is devoid of journalists, camera crews, or internet connections after all.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 23:20

And, dare I say it, William by himself is just not as interesting to the press as William with his wife and/or children.

They are rather horrible. Close up photos like that don't do her any favours either - what's up with her teeth? They look very thin at the ends like she's got a problem with the enamel.

itswinetime · 04/05/2019 23:46

I think that's pretty fair. Same normal goes for Harry too he doesn't get as much press without Meghan as with. I think at the moment it's all a bit of kilter as everyone is trying to use his appearances to figure out what that might mean for baby Sussex either being here or due date.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/05/2019 07:05

So Meghan will have to go to Frimley Park today for an induction; presume it’s EDD+2w now.
Will probably be staked out by photographers now.
A snatched paparazzi shot of her going in or out is going to be worth a fortune.
Based on all the Royal engagements; Germany; Wales they were probably expecting the baby to have arrived at least a week ago, photo seen and name announced. Now all that is going to overshadow Charles and William’s engagements.

SweetestSugar · 05/05/2019 07:54

Will she?

motheroftinydragons · 05/05/2019 07:57

I hope she's already had it and is just hiding out fur a bit at home. Inductions are rarely a nice way to go (bitter experience!). Royal baby or not, birth still bloody hurts.

Makes me cringe thinking about it!

Also imagine being two weeks over. Grim. Hats off to all of you who've endured that, my children were born one day and one week early and I was about ready to kill someone by that point!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/05/2019 08:01

If she hasn't had pregnant and "sources" Rebecca English on Twitter is usually well informed, says she has been at home.
So if she's 2 weeks overdue, then she's going to be advised to be induced. NHS Rules are once you're induced you cannot have a home birth.
So perhaps she'll sit at home doing yoga and eating vindaloos, but I'm assuming she will think she's tried her best for a natural birth, now she needs some help.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/05/2019 08:02

*if she hasn't had the baby and is still pregnant

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/05/2019 08:09

Poor Meghan, I know bump size isn't indicative of how far along you are but she was already pretty big when we last saw her. She must be so uncomfortable by now!

I doubt she's on the NHS and the Queen had a CS at home. I don't think we're talking about a diy birthing pool.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/05/2019 08:15

Rumour has it that Omid Scobie from Harper's is the Richard Kay to Meghan's Diana. This is what he has to say though I beg to differ with the "comfortable" bit of it! Then again I was walking a mile to a studio and doing pregnancy yoga everyday for a fortnight before I had DC so Meghan might be ok!

SweetestSugar · 05/05/2019 08:15

I don’t think you can presume her due date was 21 April though?!
