On every thread where someone posts a picture of sandals to ask for advice, theres always a chorus of 'hideous', 'granny', 'fugly' etc. So please share some photos of sandals that you think are nice, stylish, chic, non-stomach-churning, whatever. Bear in mind that many of us need sandals to be comfortable and suitable for lots of walking. I promise no snarky comments!

I bought these Birkenstock Lana in 'cognac' at the end of last summer and have been waiting to try them. I have worn them for the first time today and i realy love them. They are comfortable and i think the wedge heel is quite flattering. My usual Birkenstocks are not the narrow width, but these still fit, despite only being available in narrow!

@Heratnumber7 I have very smelly and sweaty feet, but I wear a different set everyday. If I didn't then those sandals would be unbearable

Recently ordered 4 pairs from Zalando, these are the only ones I'm keeping. Very comfy, accommodating my twisted little to with corn, and cut low enough that my fat ankles don't look too bad.

Well, I spent about 47 hours on the Zalando website I also absolutely have to try on, but they have a very good returns process. I ordered 4 pairs, hoping to keep 1 pair, just sent the other 3 back.

Yes of course people who shop online try things on... and return the things that don't fit I order from websites with free returns or from high street shops so I can return them to the shop.

With Amazon you can order something Luke 8 options, try at home, send back what you don't want and then pay what is being kept. 'Try before you buy', it is available with amazon prime subscription though. I only have prime because it's half price for student

The AG sandals are very flat - I find them comfortable but if you need a bit of support then you might find them a bit hard on the feet.

My DSis bought some almost identical leather ones from Etsy for a fraction of the cost - they seem to only sell them in Greece so you pay a little more for postage and they take a few weeks to arrive but they are virtually the same.

@justaweeone I have those Clark's ones and they're mega comfy!

@Heratnumber7 Leather or suede sock/footbed is they key imo for minimal whiff and I won't buy any sandals without them and it does cut down the options. Annoys me that even expensive brands like Gabor are now using microfibre instead of leather to line their sandals.

I've just bought these - can't believe how beautiful they are. DNA from tkmaxx. Blingy but not obviously. They're for a wedding though. Not walking for miles
For that I wear Birkenstocks every time. They have pretty colours. I have bronze and silver ones. I can walk the streets of London all day and still have a spring (and a whiff) to my step 😉
