On every thread where someone posts a picture of sandals to ask for advice, theres always a chorus of 'hideous', 'granny', 'fugly' etc. So please share some photos of sandals that you think are nice, stylish, chic, non-stomach-churning, whatever. Bear in mind that many of us need sandals to be comfortable and suitable for lots of walking. I promise no snarky comments!

Bingo love those Timberland ones! Shock at £70 though. However they do look like they would last years...

WellTidy · 17/04/2019 11:34

I have bought these moshulu Wasabi sandals for years. They tick all my boxes:

  1. Can be worn with trousers and skirts/dresses
  2. Thick enough sole, so doesn't hurt underfoot
  3. Not too high on the ankle (v bony ankles, me, and my ankles are not level Blush
  4. Bunions can poke through the gaps in the straps

I am surprised they haven't already been mentioned! I am buying the silver, yellow and blackcurrant ones this year.

roundligament · 17/04/2019 11:44

@starfleet where did you get them I love them

VittysCardigan · 17/04/2019 11:53

@Welltidy Do the need much wearing in? Also, i have redundancy to scuff the toes on sandals, how do these stand up?

Bluntness100 · 17/04/2019 12:00

I got these salt water a couple of years ago and still my favourites. I wear these or flip flops.

I quite like the look of Saltwater sandals but when I tried some on last year, they were so hard! It was like having two bits of hardboard strapped to my feet.

Do people find them comfortable?

PinkLipsDontLie · 17/04/2019 12:18

@bingoitsadingo I really like those timberland ones, and I am style first, everytime! But if I was on a walking trip, or excursion in the nature, this is the sort of thing I would wear. Stylish summer sandals are great for the city, the office and going out, but they would be out of place (and inappropriate) while on a mountain trip, for example.

So I am considering buying those, are they true to size?

whitehalleve · 17/04/2019 12:21

@gubbsywubbsy where are your sandals from please? I need them!

starfleet · 17/04/2019 12:22

roundligament - I bought them a few years ago from Selfridges - I'm not sure if they still stock them but you can buy them from the Ancient Greek website.

gubbsywubbsy · 17/04/2019 12:24

@whitehalleve they are just from Next .. very comfy and IMO stylish .. I also have the Topshop ones @Ellapaella has which are lovely but not as padded so not as comfy ..

animaginativeusername · 17/04/2019 13:30

These are from Clark's, still wearing after 2 years. Very comfortable

I have Timberland sandals (sandal addict Blush) and they are great. They do half sizes and the ones I have are good for wide-ish feet.

animaginativeusername · 17/04/2019 13:33

I love the dr Martens sandals @Elemental and @IrisApfelRocks

Iris Apfel was the inspiration for my glasses

HastaLaVistaPrint · 17/04/2019 13:33

Posted too soon! I take 5.5 in Clarks, which is the same as I take in Timberland.

Hullabalooo · 17/04/2019 13:46

Are they real leather @tierraj

bingoitsadingo · 17/04/2019 14:00

@SaveOurSausages I bought mine on amazon last year for £56, so not quite so bad - maybe you can find them cheaper somewhere

@PinkLipsDontLie I would say they are slightly on the small side, but only slightly. I am pretty reliably an EU41, and that is what I have. I have quite flat feet, if you have high arches you might want to go up a size I guess. I think we must have very similar taste, I have just ordered a pair of flatter leather ones from etsy that are very similar to the ones you linked to, I can't wait for them to arrive!

WellTidy · 17/04/2019 14:07

Vittys No wearing in needed at all. I have very bony bits around my heel and bunions, and they have never rubbed me. I don't know about scuffing the toe, sorry, but these are my go to sandals every year and I have never had a problem with them. I do replace each season (last year's sandals become beach sandals and then I don't mind about them getting salt or sun cream all over them) because I do walk a lot every day and they do, with that much walking, lose the softness under the foot.

There was a 20% off offer on last weekend, so if you're interested, sign up for their email and wait.
