Anne won. I remember it.
Fergie lost her voice from yelling and I remember Edward being a real arrogant arse to the press; that clip just brought it back.
It could have been positively spun, but Edward tried to control the journos.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/02/2019 21:50

There’s nothing new on the show, it’s just Pac-Man presentin* it is quite funny.
You also get to see middle aged royals as young people.
Andrew was quite looking, if you like the toothy look!

I'm old enough to remember most of what went on, though I didn't pay too much attention. But seeing it all condensed into 45 minutes, plus Paxman's take on it, it does really seem that the RF has got lucky with Kate. I think she makes all the future-king stuff more bearable for William, and obviously her stable family background plays a part in that.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/02/2019 23:54

I did feel really sorry for Charles. Although paxman was his usual sardonic self, I think he was quite sympathetic to Charles and said he was just experimented on ( gordonstoun, Cambridge) and his whole future was programmed. He was married off to Diana; basically because she was the only aristocratic virgin they could find.

It is quite incredible to think that as late as the 80s; virginity was considered an essential trait of a future Queen.

William is incredibly lucky with Kate. I think it’s only now he has his kids, he realises he was stupid to have almost lost her, and they have a fantastic close relationship now.

Princess Eugenie and Sarah visit Teenage Cancer Trust. Any hint of a bump under that busy dress?

itswinetime · 06/02/2019 00:08

Her wait's looks tiny in the second photo so not to me but it does say looking back on my visit so I'm not sure if she means a few days or a year 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The documentray I think goes to show how the the queens children have gone about parenthood very differently to their parents which I'm sure is part not being the monarch and part a generational thing. But I think they learnt and have tried to give their children as much freedom as possible!

I think there was definitely a sympathetic slant towards Charles glossing over his opinionated phase and even the marriage breakdown, lots more was shown of fergies headlines than Charles. I do wonder if the press are softening their stance on Charles now as the reality of him being king draws closer. The royals need public support to reign and the press make a lot of money reporting on the royals. Charles has always been controversial but the last few years he seems to get a lot of positive press and they have turned on the younger generation! But maybe that's just the natural order 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • waist not wait's 😳
Bloominglovely · 06/02/2019 01:35

I'm not a fan of the dress.

When I read a PP's comment about the possibility of Eugenie being pregnant, I had a quick look on google. Apparently she mentioned something on Istagram about how 2019 was going to be an exciting year and it is the norm for the RF to have babies in the first year of their marriage? More interestingly, it (it being google) said there is a strong possibility of William and Kate having a fourth child this year. Why not I suppose!!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 06:26

There is talk of Meghan now having the baby at the Lindo wing (apparently the staff are on standby for April).
I thought she had been looking at Frimley Park, closer to Frogmore when she could have left discreetly.
Why on Earth she wants the inevitable comparisons to Kate when she appears with the baby.
Perhaps she will do it her way; messy bun, fresh faced, yoga pants.
But even when pregnant, Meghan has been polished and resolutely stuck to high heels and designer clothes.
The only reasons I can think of for going to the Linfo wing, is that a) Harry wants his first child born in the same place as him
B) they want the press attention

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 06:32

Re: William and Kate having another baby; it’s a tough one as Kate is one of 3 so it is what she knows and may feel comfortable with it.
They also seem to model themselves on the Queen and Prince Phillip in terms of lots of joint Day engagements and Kate is definitely the consort; doesher best not to overshadow William.
Anyway, point being is the Queen had 4 children, so perhaps that is the perfect “royal” number. However both Kate and William are very close in age to their siblings; Max 2 year gap, so if she’s not pregnant this year, I think ts safe to say there won’t be any more Cambridge babies.

CP Mary is 47 today.
There is a retrospective in the DM with more pics

the RF has got lucky with Kate

Couldn’t agree more and I am not a royalist really, I just love looking at the clothes on this thread!

She never puts a foot wrong and looks so happy and engaged wherever she is. I reckon the Queen et al must value her massively.

She has a polished girl next door vibe which makes her really approachable. I have seen her out and about more than a few times shopping as I lived very close to Sandringham for a decade. Just comes across as a really pleasant woman.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/02/2019 07:26

I'd be very surprised if the Cambridges had another baby - why put yourself through HG a fourth time?

CP Mary always looks so elegant, and seems like a lovely person. Fred is another royal who got lucky with his spouse!
There are any number of private hospitals and maternity wings for Meghan to have the baby.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 07:56

"Meghan needs to seek advice from Kate on how to be a better Duchess".

"Why on earth is Meghan considering giving birth at the same place as Kate?! They must just want the attention."

Maybe she sought advice from Perfect Kate? Maybe they won't have moved to Windsor yet? Maybe Harry wants to keep a family tradition going? Maybe the "apparently" is a load of made up bollocks? If they do have the baby there people will say it's attention, if they don't people will say "aha, they took heed of all the criticism in February!" or "that attention seeker, why couldn't she give birth at the traditional place?! Thinks she's damn special that one."

They'll be followed by the press whatever they do. They don't need to seek attention, attention seeks them. There will be comparisons whatever they do she does, because even on this thread people are looking to find fault with her and compare her to the perfect demure English rose.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 08:10

I heard she's having a home hypno-drug-free waterbirth with only a doula and a soothsayer present, because she thinks she's special and the first woman to have a baby and she's insisting that her baby is born in a castle because it's special. John Legend will sing and play the piano and that preacher from the wedding will bless it as the second coming of Christ as the cord is cut. Attention seeking hussy.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 06/02/2019 08:12

Maybe the Lindo is the easiest place for security. And the staff gave experience of dealing with the Royal circus.

I was wearing ankle boots like that in the '80s. What goes round comes round.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 08:12

I heard she is having the baby in America because she thinks UK hospitals are Victorian and substandard. She obviously has no loyalty to this country or our Harry and only wanted his sperm. I give the marriage two years, she will run away back to America once she has a couple of kids under her belt and a big divorce settlement. There was always something dodgy about her, couldn't quite put my finger on it.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 08:13

I loved Kate's boots yesterday! And the colour if not style of the dress. Getting a bit funky, releasing her inner grungy student!

WhitherShallIWander · 06/02/2019 08:48

I get the feeling Kate is done - she’s been positively glowing since Louis’s birth.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/02/2019 08:54

I agree @AFifthOfKoolAid, it's a bit uncharitable to suggest she's going to the Lindo "for attention". I don't hold much store in rumours - the media were convinced she'd hired a doula for a home birth just a few months ago!

But the Lindo or Portland seems to be traditional for the Waleses so it wouldn't surprise me if she chose one of them. I imagine she has the best outcome for her baby on her mind rather than thunder stealing.
