And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

@AFifthOfKoolAid I totally expect to see at least one of those stories reported as fact in the DM over the next few weeks Wink

I did quite like the dress, but now I can't unsee the frog Grin and I like the shape of the boots although I'm not sure about the eyelets. I think the true colour of the dress is probably the brighter one, the pictures where it looks darker look a bit under exposed.

queenofarles · 06/02/2019 09:05

i don't see H&M doing anything discreetly. They generate lots of interest and they will probably like to take advantage of it. The birth of their baby is their second most important appearance after their wedding and will be big news everywhere.

MM cleverly made The Fashion Awards became all about her , her speech and bump.

Business Meeting with the new communication director in Notting hill restaurant brought in lots of attention to MM.
I agree that She will probably step out with a less dolled up look than Kate . Or maybe Take advantage of it all And greet the world media in a custom made Givenchy dress.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/02/2019 09:08

Well Kate did it in custom-made Jenny Packham three times so why not??

Tbh I think the expectation that ANY woman should appear singling and waving on the hospital steps in couture, full makeup and heels is ridiculous. But if they didn't then they'd be accused by the tabloids of being spongers who are only there because of the taxpayers and the least they could do is show the baby to the adoring public etc etc

Exactly queenofandals .

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 09:21

Ha 100%. "Having their baby at Frimley Park and shielding it from photographers. Who does she think she is, her baby is no more special than George, Charlotte and Louis"

evilharpy · 06/02/2019 09:22

Just catching up on yesterday. Not a fan of the green dress but I LOVE the boots and am coveting them very hard.

queenofarles · 06/02/2019 09:25

There is no turning back from meet and greet the press just a couple of hours after the birth. That ship has sailed With the birth of George.
I remember Queen Rania, just published a picture of her holding her youngest baby in hospital with her other children around her. I think she was just wearing an old fashion Dressing gown.
Wonder why K&W didn't do just that. It would have been a good middle ground

queenofarles · 06/02/2019 09:27

koolaid who are you quoting exactly ? I don't remember anyone on here saying that Confused

I thought W&K got it right with George - simple dress, not much makeup. Kate has elevated it since - white dress with Charlotte, heels, full makeup!

I don't think Kate will have another baby, I think Louis is the apple of her eye and agree that she seems more relaxed now and has a contentment about her.

Would love to see Meghan in yoga pants after she has the baby. Kate must have had quite straightforward deliveries to have been up and out so soon after having hers. Hopefully Meghan will be the same and not have any complications. I had an traumatic, long and complicated delivery with my first baby but was desperate to go home and remember DH saying to me "Kitty, if you want them to let you go home you need to not look dead" Kate on the steps I most definitely was not! Grin

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 09:44

Who am I quoting? Where? There are definitely posts saying "she really needs to ask Kate for advice" in this series of threads, I can seek them out when I'm not at work.

The quote about why on earth she is looking to have a baby at the same place as Kate was paraphrasing a post a few above my first this morning.

My subsequent posts were being sarcastic and predicting how her detractors will find fault in whatever she does.

Bloominglovely · 06/02/2019 10:07

I imagine the Lindo is the best place to have the baby as they have had three recent royal babies and can use and follow the previous security and protocol.

I wonder if the anti Neghan is linked to Brexit and people’s wish for the UK to be insular. . I have stopped clicking on the Daily Mail links as the comments under the articles on the RF seemto be based on a dangerous mix of ignorance/anti foreigners/royalists who seem adamant there is room for only Kate in the RF. No wonder Chelsy Daby ran as soon as she got old enough for marriage rumours to start. Cressida Bonas too (although I personally get the impression that Harry didn’t feel as strongly about her)

Bloominglovely · 06/02/2019 10:09

Agh autocorrect. That should have read Meghan and Chelsy Davy.!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 10:14

I raised the point about Meghsn potentially having the baby at the Lindo wing. I also mentioned a Jewellery Exhibition at the V&A and posted some fashion pics about CP Mary. Neither of the latter have been commented on, and they are definitely within the style & beauty remit.

There is something about the duchesses perceived "behaviour" which seems to light the blue touch paper. It is impossible to voice an opinion about them; especially Meghan without it turning into some kind of slanging match.
As long as they are young(ish) beautiful and fashionable, we are going to have a decade of this commendation till poor Charlotte is about 15.
I can certainly see why CP Victoria resolutely scrapes her hair back and wears sensible clothes. The worst they can say about her is she is a bit boring looking and comment on her work. Likewise Princess Anne.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 10:15
  • commentary not commendation
itswinetime · 06/02/2019 10:15

It's all speculation isn't it? As I see it no one knows the requirements asked of somewhere when delivering a royal baby. In terms of security having a team on standby ect ect maybe the Lindo wing is the only place willing to offer all that?

I know it's where William and Kate choose but it's also where Charles and Diana and Andrew and Fergie went, I think anne to but I'm not sure. The only ones that bucked the trend I think were Edward and Sophie and wether that was choice or due to the emergency nature/complications we will never know. But I don't remember Fergie being criticised for copying Diana. Or being accused of attention seeking!

I do feel for Meghan she really is dammed either way in regards to this she follows tradition she is going to be criticised she breaks it same goes.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 10:17

Fergie had hers at the Portland. Fancy private hospital where Victoria Beckham had a couple of hers.

CreakyBlinder · 06/02/2019 10:44

How can we be speculating about this? Who honestly cares? Maybe she just liked it the best and felt comfortable with her care there. (and I do recognise that many of the posts are defensive and not attacking)

I like the fashion on these threads, but it's the kind of stuff above that will stop me joining in on them.

Bloominglovely · 06/02/2019 10:51

I think there is a fascination with the RF (for me anyway). I don’t admire them but their lives are so far removed from my own that speculating on them is like discussing an episode of EastEnders. I don’t mean any harm by it. I find them entertaining in a way.

Back to fashion....

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 06/02/2019 10:53

Evil I also love them. They're Russell & Bromley I think, so attainable though sadly still out of reach for me at the moment. Argh!

Paradyning · 06/02/2019 11:08

I thought the boots were LK Bennet?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 06/02/2019 11:15

You're right! Sorry

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 11:20

It's a bit disingenuous to lament "poor Charlotte" being lined up for the very kind of criticism you're indulging in for Meghan Confused
