Link to previous thread

Link to book group thread, which has the list of books.

And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

Ha that legendary Grace Jones performance always makes me smile. Talent.

The weather was so ghastly that year. I went to a wedding the weekend of the Diamond Jubilee bank holiday and I don't think I've seen the UK skies so sad and grey since! I didn't envy anyone on that boat parade.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 06/02/2019 15:04

The weather was so ghastly that year.

Oh God, wasn't it just? The only good weather I remember that "summer" was for the Olympics.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/02/2019 15:27

I didn't envy anyone on that boat parade.

Wasn't the DoE hospitalised for something the very next day?

Yes he missed the rest of the celebrations there were lots of jokes that it was a convenient excuse for him but if I'm remembering correctly he was 90 or very nearly 90 and stood on a boat in the wind and rain for hours! It was a very random mix of events! The concert I remember watching as the strangest mix of people/performers didn't madness sing on the roof of BP?

myqueenkate · 06/02/2019 15:38

@frugalkitty

I have pm’d you about the book Smile

MakeItAmazing · 06/02/2019 17:01

Kool. Thank goodness you didn't meant your post about stealing Harry's sperm etc. I was all set to Hmm you and say not be mean.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 06/02/2019 17:13

Haha MakeItAmazing. No no, for the record I was definitely taking the piss.

But I've seen equally wild comments on here Confused

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/02/2019 17:21

Oh yeah, I've seen some batshit posts on here (here as in MN, not here as in these RS&G threads) like posters who claim Meghan isn't really pregnant and Kate never was!

OP posts:
itswinetime · 06/02/2019 17:23

Case in point has anyone ventured onto the Charles/Camillia secret love child thread!

MakeItAmazing · 06/02/2019 17:39

I did read some, itswinetime but can't remember if I posted anything. I am a bit fed up of everyone insinuation the Queen and Diana became pregnant by someone other than their husbands. I can't believe anyone in the royal family senior would be so stupid as to have a child out of wedlock. Not because that is stupid but because of the resultant consequences.

frugalkitty · 06/02/2019 18:32

There's all kinds of bonkers on MN (not this thread though). I worked with a flat earther which was really interesting actually......and after seeing something on here about MMs pregnancy not being real I fell down a fake bump rabbithole on line (moonbumps??? Possibly, I've forgotten already) but goodness there's a lot of crazy stuff on the Internet! Surely there's no way H and M would get away with faking the pregnancy but there's a lot of people who are convinced they are! Bonkers. Confused

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/02/2019 18:48

Real shame that this thread has degenerated into something really boring and full of pisstaking.
I was coming on to post some Royal fashion, but I am losing interest and am not going to bother.

Moononthehill28 · 06/02/2019 18:51

What is really boring and pisstaking? The comments about fashion are great, but why shouldn’t people talk about the RF generally? What’s wrong with that?

Paradyning · 06/02/2019 18:56

Nooooo@CurlyWurlyTwirly love you!

PodgeHog · 06/02/2019 18:57

What do we think of Camilla’s dress at the British Asian dinner? Slightly curtain like but a good colour I thought. I wish we could get more Sophie!

CreakyBlinder · 06/02/2019 18:57

Well it's mainly a fashion thread so I guess that's why.

I'm not interested in the history or the genealogy or the titles or the shitty gossip either. But when there are gaps that's sort of what comes along to fill them.

Paradyning · 06/02/2019 18:59

There's Leti looking beautiful but slightly boring on this link today

www.therealmyroyals.com/page/2/

Then CPV in a Marklesque camel wrap coat

I'm not too sure about Cam's green dress last night. Not one of her best. Her suit during the day though was v. v. Cams.

MotherofPearl · 06/02/2019 19:02

In an effort to steer things back to fashion - though admittedly not current RS&B - I've been looking back at less well-known (to me at least, though probably not to you lot Smile) royal wedding dresses.

I attach one of Leti's, and one of Queen Rania's. I love the sculpted collar/neckline of Leti's. I'm less keen on Rania's, which is a bit flouncy imo. I think it was designed by Bruce Oldfield, who designed loads of Diana's clothes in the 80s.

Paradyning · 06/02/2019 19:05

Love Leti's. Her tiara really goes. Rania's was of the era I guess.

I think it phished it down with rain as Leti was arriving at the Church

itswinetime · 06/02/2019 19:14

I think there is room for everything on the thread people can dip in and out as their interest allows. Yes it's mainly fashion but I have learnt some really interesting things from some posters I have also dipped out at points when the discussion doesn't grab me.

I think queens post from post one applies to each other as well as the royals.

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

Anyway back to fashion Sophie was out and about today. She looks confident and happy but I wish she would loose the oversized coat (sorry the photo is a bit pants)! I think I missed Camillia at the British Asian dinner does anyone have a pic I wasn't as keen on her outfit at the Supreme Court yesterday it didn't seem quite tailored enough which is rare for her.

MotherofPearl · 06/02/2019 19:20

I agree about Rania's being very much of its era.

I do think Camilla generally looks great. She's found a look that really suits her and she stick to it.

itswinetime · 06/02/2019 19:27

Yes generally camilla has a great style for her but yesterdays was my favourite of her

Letizia wedding dress is stunning but then the more I see of her the less surprised I am I think that she has a great sense of style and of knowing what suits her too!! I think she's my favourite royal for style at the moment.

Hairydilemma · 06/02/2019 19:29

It’swinetime - silage competition! Grin - did Sophie and Anne’s diaries get mixed up?!

I also like Sophie, would be good to see more of her.

I’ve decided one of my aims for this year is to see the Queen. As a child/teen I loved Diana but never got to see her - think I assumed there was no imperative as she’d be around forever. Sadly not.

And the conversations on these threads have made me realise that’s clearly not the case with HM either.

So I’m going to try and see her in the flesh. Not sure when as not surprisingly she seems to be doung fewer engagements, plus they seem to be announced later, but will try.

I’ve entered a ballot for tickets for Trooping the Colour as a first step. Fingers crosssed...

Clionba · 06/02/2019 19:31

I agree, wine, Leti is my favourite style wise at the moment. I think she has a more modern business vibe, rather than traditional royal lady. I like that she wears trousers and tops, shirts and skirts and mixes and matches. They're usually not crazy pricey, either.

RatherBeRiding · 06/02/2019 19:53

I thought Leti looked great in those photos - very simple outfit but beautifully cut and finished off with some seriously blingy earrings just to lift the look to another level. Very polished!
