LilyLoo · 28/06/2007 19:53

Just looking for opinions. I have a friends wedding in August when i will be 4/5 month pregnant. I have a white knee lentgh dress from monsoon i have never worn, strapless but fitted under the bust with a full skirt. I think it would fit me then and would save me getting a new outfit i wouldn't / couldn't wear again. But is white to a wedding ok ?

its splendid actually walnut

its light brown silk with very tiny flowers. hmm. its nicer than that

it is also, all importantly, flattering, though am buggered if i'm wearing heels (am v clumsy when pg) so people can bitch away to their heart's contnent really

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:33

chelsea, shs is pg and cannot be ar$ed to go shopping.

surely that is excuse enough

LilyLoo · 28/06/2007 20:35

Thanks Filly it really is down to that Chelsea

Chelseamum · 28/06/2007 20:36

nope in my little world!

babyblue2 · 28/06/2007 20:36

Yeah its hard to find things when you're pg but you still can't wear white.
Lilyloo-can't you get it professionally dyed another colour?

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:38

I wore white to about 3 weddings when pg

as far as I KNOW (and I think this would have gotten back to me) NO ONE bitched about me

There ARE special rules when you are pg and to wear a white dress as part of a multicoloured ensamble is truly not the end of the world.

MrsFish · 28/06/2007 20:38

For goodness sake all this DO NOT WEAR WHITE is so out of date... wear colourful accessories and a cardi/wrap and it will be fine.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 28/06/2007 20:39

as long as you don't turn up with a tiara and a posy, you'll be okay....

Walnutshell · 28/06/2007 20:39

Chelseamum - you can have the Etiquette Queen Crown. But I still think it's unimportant.

Filly, I'm off to Tesco's.

JoeAverage · 28/06/2007 20:39

IMO nope. Sorry.

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:40

out of interest lily do you know what its made of?

it MIGHT be dyable -but tbh, its risky as its very normal for the fabric to be, say, cotton and the thread, say, polyester. you then end up with the stitching showing...

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:41

they are really very nice walnut

crucially, somehow, they drape most flatteringly

Walnutshell · 28/06/2007 20:41

But before I go to Tesco's, I shall start a clever little chant that I think you may all be impressed with.

Ahem:

Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it!

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:41

Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it!

MrsFish · 28/06/2007 20:42

I agree

Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it!

Walnutshell · 28/06/2007 20:42

I know, it's bloody catchy isn't it? And it rhymes. It's particularly effective when chanted wearing a brown silk tea dress (yum) or short white frock emminently suitable for a wedding.

LilRedWG · 28/06/2007 20:43

Ask the bride.

smurfgirl · 28/06/2007 20:43

Wear it with v.coloured acessories and you will be fine, deffo no silver sandals and silver wrap or anything.

Walnutshell · 28/06/2007 20:43

There's a second verse too.

It goes a little like this:

Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em!

MrsFish · 28/06/2007 20:44

I like your song Walnutshell

fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 20:45

all together now

Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it!

Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em!

Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Wear it!

Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em! Stuff em!

babyblue2 · 28/06/2007 20:45

I could start a chant myself but would think it a tad childish

Walnutshell · 28/06/2007 20:45

Thanks MrsFish, I don't know where I pulled it from, must've been my A-Level English Literature days. I expect I'll be mentioned in the next MN newsletter.

LOL it's all cotton i think although not too sure of stitching. I won't dye it as i don't want to ruin it. So if i do i need a bold colour wrap, bag , shoes and hairpiece ? Might try Tesco though Filly is it online ?
