Apparently the Grimaldi's were cursed years ago so that none will find happiness in love. I'd have to dig out the story from one of my Princess Grace books if anyone wants a bit more info.

Here you go. This is from 'Rainier & Grace' by Jeffery Robinson. Whether or not R and G were truly happy in marriage is not known given she resented him for stopping her returning to acting, and his alleged infidelity over the years. I like to think she was happy though, and it's tragic that she died comparatively young.

I wonder if Stephanie would've gone as much off the rails if her mother hadn't died? IIRC she was in the car with Grace and had to endure speculation that it was her at the wheel. She was only about 18 at the time and it must've psychologically scarred her for life.

The Grimaldis are one messed up family. QueenofAndals plenty of talk that they were arguing in the car, no one will ever know, but i guess the whole deal caused a huge impact on princess Grace's children.

Queen I think they'd been arguing at the time and a witness said Stephanie crawled out of the drivers window which fuelled the rumours that she'd been driving not Grace. The news initially was that Grace had a broken leg and would be ok. One of her bridesmaid back in the States sent a telegram saying 'up, up, up, dance, dance, dance' and said in her biography that Grace would have really chuckled at the idea of a member of staff opening that telegram after she'd died. Very tragic all round.

I can vaguely remember my parents talking about Princess Grace's death when I happened. I would've been very young and I didn't know at the time that she'd been an actress before her marriage. She was probably the most beautiful royal bride ever.

Poor Stephanie. Who hasn't had the occasional car argument with their parents? If that's true then it might haunt her to this day, even though she wasn't to know it would end so tragically. I think she was still in hospital when Grace was buried and couldn't attend her funeral.

I remember the death of Princess Caroline’s first husband when her DC’s were very young.

He was actually her second husband. Her first was quite a bit older than her and is still alive, I think. I wonder if her children remember their father? One of Pierre's sons is also called Stefano but Pierre was only about 2 when he died.

I remember Princess Grace dying & felt so sad for Stephanie who had to endure speculation.

There's a whole story about Mafia involvement in his death due to debts and his coffin being left vertical in the church overnight as a calling card.

Maybe Charlotte called off the wedding because Dmitri didn’t stack up / get up in the night to do the 3am feed / was a bit of a loser; she posted a thread in AIBU and we all said LTRightRoyalB.
