Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Clankboing - ... heels thing nowadays reminds me of corsets in the past and to me is a feminist issue.

I love the look of heels but I agree. It's a complicated issue though. Many will say that women have won the choice to wear what they please and this is what they choose. I think it's a strange way to be liberated though. Strapping things on your legs which mean you walk funny. Weird world.

Clionba · 02/01/2019 17:49

The younger women wear very high, very spindly heels. Often on cobbles and uneven ground. I'm so nervous one of them is going to take a tumble! I agree that some have good posture, others do not Hmm

VamillaSugar · 02/01/2019 17:56

queen you are a veritable vision in gingham. If Kate does not choose that as inspiration for her crown (when the time comes) then I shall be sorely disappointed.

Shimy · 02/01/2019 19:39

Are we just discussing European princesses styles or can e discuss others too? If so, canioffer you the lovely and stylish princess Rania of Jordan.

Sorry about all the typos but I. Typos but I swear nobody has an iPad quite like mine.Wink

VamillaSugar · 02/01/2019 20:21

All Princesses everywhere shimy. But sadly we think Rania may have had some work done Sad

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2019 20:22

Rania is so beautiful but in the last year or so has gone OTT with fillers.

I'd be surprised if you didn't make Tatler's top fashion list for 2019.

Ouch! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2019 20:51

Having seen what made Tatler's list in 2018 I think my chances are pretty good!

I think it's a strange way to be liberated though. Strapping things on your legs which mean you walk funny.

If it were only fashion, that would be defensible, but besides making you walk funny, those shoes can do permanent damage to your feet.

Queen My only concern is that gingham is more a spring and summer look. I'm heading out on a work trip Monday. My SIL loaned me her neck pillow for the plane. It is a fuzzy animal print and I am headed to a colder climate. I wonder . . .

Laiste · 02/01/2019 21:20

Very true SenecaFalls. Very true.

Been down a very sad rabbit hole looking at the pics of the Romanov family. Especially the rather informal portraits of the little girls when they were young :( Something about pictures of children which bring history vividly to life. This thread has taken me to some unexpected and fascinating tangents.

certainlymerry · 02/01/2019 21:24

Where is the link to the you tube video mentioned with Eugenie and Meghan please?

VamillaSugar · 02/01/2019 21:42

It’s on page 34 certainlymerry

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2019 21:46

You look the height of elegance Queen

I don’t wear high heels - RA and I think I don’t look as sleek as some other women on the rare occasion I go out.

Shimy · 02/01/2019 22:04

I didn’t know she was botoxing, she is naturally beautBut I wNted to bring her stylishness to the table.

Shimy that second outfit of Rania's is giving me life. That purple skirt! ❤

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2019 22:27

I love Rania's cream cape dress with the contrasting underside. She really nails looking chic while still adhering to a conservative dress code.

OP posts:
Clionba · 02/01/2019 22:47

Rania is very elegant. Like Letizia, she often wears blouses and skirts which looks more modern. I love that cape thingy!

Shimy · 02/01/2019 23:05

Got stuck - That skirt is amazing, and oh! To have a waistline like that

Queen - Yes! Conservative meets modern style indeed. Her sister in law, Queen Haya of Dubai nails it too.

Tortycat · 02/01/2019 23:17

Those photos of Q Rania are great - she looks so serenely stylish

I may have missed this on earlier threads, but anyone know what happened to the Russian royal jewels. Were they destroyed?

kooshbin · 03/01/2019 02:28

YouTube’s algorithms are a bit strange. I have no idea why it suggested this. I don’t know very much about Frederik and Mary, but I was struck by the music which seemed a bit odd, also how cute the groom looked in all his nervousness, and Mary’s train was longer than Kate’s. Maybe whenever there’s a hiatus in royal appearances, YouTube offerings could fill the gap?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/01/2019 03:54

@kooshbin
Post whatever you like as long as it is royal related!
We do go through phases of having YouTube videos and have a bit of a chat about them.
There was a spate around the time of Prince Charles’ 70th.

A few threads back @AhoyDelBoy posted links to all the threads.
We must be up to no.17 or. 18 now.
If you scroll through you will find other videos.

I posted a link to A documentary about Frederick when her turned 18.
He is quite a fascinating character. He even qualified as a Danish Navy Seal.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/01/2019 04:07

I will say, Mary Donaldson’s wedding Tiara was absolutely tiny.
Given all the jewels the Danes have, the poor girl doesn’t seem to wear that many even now
It would appear that Queen Margarethe is keeping all the good stuff for herself.
At least HM is fairer at divvying up the tiara between the various women in her family. I’d like to see Kate being lent some more interesting tiaras.
As Camilla wears some stupendous ones, I’m sure she won’t mind Kate wearing more bling as they move up the order of succession.
Poor old Sophie needs some decent jewels.

I remember Mary and Frederick’s wedding. We were in Australia for a year and sat and watched the whole thing. They filmed the entire ceremony and the reception and it ended after their first dance which was a weird thing where all the guests joined them 2 by 2!
I called my mum and said “did you watch the royal wedding?” and she had no idea what I was talk Ng about. It was only shown in Australia as Mary was Aussie.
