Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Me three. I'd guess that the perks of Natasha Archer's job are pretty spectacular without needing a gong. Although (straying off area here!) I'm at least grateful Beckham has been bumped down or off the list. Catching up on the latest royals go to church photos and you can see why The Queen is so fond of Sophie (and I'm sure Edward too!) - they are always there for her and not scooting off the first chance they can.

TyraAllen · 30/12/2018 17:12

There are several nurses, doctors, surgeons and medical researchers on the New Year Honours list. They don't make the headlines in the national papers because they are not well known.

TipseyTorvey · 30/12/2018 18:01

There are several people who have deliberately chosen not to accept their honours and it always makes me wonder if I could turn one down. (I do an incredibly tedious desk job for a corporate so would never do anything to get one) but as a mild republican I should logically turn it down but the 'oooh going to the palace' part of me might be unable to resist. I wonder if Natasha had that thought process.

I dare say there are several TyraAllen but I question why so many in actors and luvvies receive awards.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/12/2018 19:38

I don't think they do @user1457017537, it's just that actors are the ones who get all the press coverage. It's maybe about 4 or 5 per honours list, which is hardly anything compared to the number of people from the non-showbiz world who receive them. Just have a look at the list. I recognised only a handful of names.

I think proportionately the actors/celebs make up a tiny % of the honours lists

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 19:47

Loved those pictures of HM and her loyal family members at church today. I preferred HMs fuschia outfit today. Anne looked fantastic in the royal purple. I am definitely buying a fedora after seeing Sophie wearing them.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 30/12/2018 19:53

Sophie looked fabulous today.

TyraAllen · 30/12/2018 20:02

I agree with QueenOfTheAndals - there are 1148 awards in the honours list this time, and the number of seriously famous people across film, tv, theatre and sport can't be more than about 20, I don't think.

Many of the press secretaries and private secretaries have got honours as they left Royal Family jobs (and even without leaving), and I should imagine, given the scrutiny she gets for what she wears, that Archer is equally useful to the DoC.

certainlymerry · 30/12/2018 20:11

PA looked fabulous! I thought HM looked great too, but she looked sad and thoughtful.. I wonder if she is worried about Philip.

UrsulaPandress · 30/12/2018 20:12

They are only loyal as they have nowhere else to be. And I mean that in the kindest way.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 21:35

Article about royal.party shoes
I was a bit Hmm about Letizia's, especially when you see the conservative outfit she paired her stripper heels with.

I disagree. Sophie's closeness to HM is well documented, and even though Anne doesn't make a deal of it, after Michael Fagan broke into the Queen's bedroom, it was Anne who was called to comfort her.
I think they are genuinely her closest family members.

CranberryBucksFizz · 30/12/2018 21:41

I loved Lady Louise's plaits. It must be so difficult being a teenager and having to dress so formally.

Clionba · 30/12/2018 21:44

Louise looked nice, she really does look like HM now.

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 21:45

stripper shoes!

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/12/2018 21:49

@CurlyWurlyTwirly I assumed @UrsulaPandress was referring to the private secretaries, not the other royals.

SenecaFalls · 30/12/2018 21:56

it was Anne who was called to comfort her.

Also perhaps Anne was in the best position to do so, having experienced an attempted kidnapping.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 21:58

Have you seen the official KP Twitter retrospective?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 22:01

@Queen I thought @Ursula was referring to my post about those who were at church today

VamillaSugar · 30/12/2018 22:11

Those plastic shoes are going to get sticky and sweaty 😷

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 22:12

All of Meghan's shoes

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 22:16

Kate's shoes'
Probably more wearable, but not as beautiful as Meghan's.

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 22:24

God Meg's shoes. To die for. Still love the Sarah Flints. And she has Gazelles!!

VamillaSugar · 30/12/2018 22:36

Kate’s shoes are gorgeous,
