Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Sartorial choices will always be very subjective and that’s what makes them fun!

7salmonswimming · 30/12/2018 04:20

I think the coat dresses are genius. They are simple, they can be one bold colour so she can easily be seen in a crowd by onlookers

Shock

It’s just hit me! KM is literally dressing like HMQ!

She really was a good catch, wasn’t she. I guess she’s been training for the role her entire adulthood, she has no individuality outside of the RF and her role. No wonder they lapped her up. And perhaps not surprising that W may not approve of Meghan. Makes you want to wish H&M Godspeed on their way out of KP to Windsor.

UrsulaPandress · 30/12/2018 05:07

I agree Kate is perfect for the role.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 05:47

Kate was always going to marry well; given her school & university choices and family money.
In as much as Kate has been influenced by the “Royal way” as she has been with William since her late teens; He has also been hugely influenced by the middle class, stable family life of the Middletons.
They have both grown together.
It will only be once they are King & Queen that we will see how differently they do things.
The current RF is based on almost Victorian principles. Or at the very least the RF of the 1930s as HM is very loyal to the principles laid down by her Father.
Not wishing to hurry along a change, but I will be interested to see how Charles does things differently when he is King.

Alwayscheerful · 30/12/2018 07:20

I prefer the navy CH dress.

On the official Louis christening pics all family members are colour coordinated with blue. Wonder if MM didn't get the memo.

FWIW I really like that outfit. The colour suits her.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 09:10

I really dislike Olive. It's such a meh colour. It's up their with beige. Harry seemed to understand that he needed to wear blue. Is it one of those unspoken things. Her wedding photos were coordinated. Green, in the green drawing room. Let's see what she wears at her own child's christening.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/12/2018 09:13

Well Meghan will probably wear cream because of the christening robe. I hope Kate's 3 are in the photo too. And then there will just be Doria from Meghan's side.

FlamingJuno · 30/12/2018 09:20

Just caught up with the thread and read through the Tatler link. Alice N-L made me laugh out loud Grin.

WipsGlitter · 30/12/2018 09:30

I think it's really mean to say Kate has no individuality.

Missyelliottsaysso · 30/12/2018 09:34

I’m not getting the hate for the olive christening dress either...those Anne Boleyn headbands though 😂

AFifthOfKoolAid · 30/12/2018 09:38

Prince Harry seldom wears anything other than blue, I doubt there was much understanding going on there. There was no weird matchy matchy at George or Charlotte's christenings, so maybe there was no "let's all wear blue" diktat for Louis' and Meghan struck out, maybe it was just coincidence. Weddings are usually coordinated because wedding parties tend to wear coordinating outfits, the same isn't true for christenings. She wasn't a godparent, and in any case previous evidence suggests that godparents in the royal family do not need to match. I'm ambivalent about olive as a colour, but suggesting she made some faux pas is a reach.

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 10:01

Not sure who suggested she made a faux pas

AFifthOfKoolAid · 30/12/2018 10:04

The "Harry seemed to understand that he needed to wear blue. Is it one of those unspoken things. Her wedding photos were coordinated" seemed to suggest she didn't understand that she needed to wear blue.

WipsGlitter · 30/12/2018 10:08

So people think because everyone else was in blue that they were told to wear blue and Meghan either didn't get the memo or ignored it?

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 10:11

I think it's a teach to say it is a coincidence when even James Matthews is in blue.
I am not saying she did anything on purpose. Just perhaps she wasn't told.

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 10:12

Camilla is in white too so maybe members of the RF females can dress how they like? The rest are all in shades of blue.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/12/2018 10:14

Wedding parties are usually colour coordinated but is it a thing for christenings? In Charlotte's christening photos there's lots of different colours worn.

Parker231 · 30/12/2018 10:15

I’m sure even the RF don’t dictate what colour outfit you must wear, well I hope they don’t. Even members of the RF can be an individual first. I’m not a fan of olive but perhaps MM is and that’s why she decided to wear it.

Paradyning · 30/12/2018 10:16

Maybe they all went subconsciously blue for a boy. Regardless, Cams and MM look fantastic.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/12/2018 10:16

Or maybe Kate is the real villain here and deliberately told everyone but Meghan to wear blue!Grin Poor Megs, we say she shouldn't wear navy all the time and then the one time she doesn't...

OP posts:
AFifthOfKoolAid · 30/12/2018 10:19

If she wasn't told then it wasn't a thing. The implication is either she's an attention seeker, or the royal family are mean bullies who made her look like a sore thumb. My guess is there is no colour scheme, as other recent christenings show no coordination. The only pattern I can vaguely see is "ooh Charlotte's a girl, I'll wear pink". Maybe they thought "ooh Louis is a boy, I'll wear blue". But a middle/uppee class man wearing a blue suit to a christening doesn't really say much.

beanaseireann · 30/12/2018 10:20

Oh dear.
I see it now Paradyning.
Camilla didn't wear blue either but she didn't stick out in the photo.
If M didn't get the memo that's nasty.
If M did get the memo and purposely ignored it that's equally nasty.

Parker231 · 30/12/2018 10:21

I think Camila is one of the best dressed in the RF - she suits hats and knows what style and colour of clothes work for her.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 30/12/2018 10:24

If there was a thread on Mumsnet about a sister in law dictating the colour of your outfit to your nephew's christening (I note there is never a suggestion that the brother in law would make such demands), you'd be told your sister in law is batshit.

I doubt any such demands were made, and no one in the family gives a shit what colour she wore. It's not like she has her tits out or anything. She's wearing a neutral colour and a dress appropriate for a christening.
