Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Meghan looked lovely in that dress, the proportions really suit her. It's a flattering length.

Clionba · 29/12/2018 19:42

That striped dress!!!!! Hideous!
It reminds me of things that burglars wear in cartoons Grin

Clionba · 29/12/2018 19:46

I think the Tatler "best looks" feature their favourite muses - hence Chloe Sevigny (don't get it), that Jenner Kardashian person, Naylor Leyland, Lady Amelia Windsor, Lady Kitty Spencer etc.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 29/12/2018 19:59

Tortycat that was a fantastic look for Meghan. And you can tell she feels good in it, which is always so appealing.

TipseyTorvey · 29/12/2018 20:07

Tortycat agree that dress is gorgeous on MM and she looks so relaxed and comfortable in her own style. Reading some of the coverage of her I am reminded of a specific gang I went to uni with that were wannabe upper middle class and how horrible they were to anyone that made any kind of faux pas or used the "wrong" (meaning not quite posh enough ) word for something. I do hope she's not being subjected to all that nonsense by the staff or their social group. Must be quite lonely at times if so.

kooshbin · 29/12/2018 20:24

I think that retrospective of the RF that Queen posted does show that MM mostly got it right; it seemed it was only when her body started changing that outfits didn't fit right.

It was easier back in my day (and Diana's) because once the waistline expanded too much for ordinary clothes, we dressed in a floral tent!

TSSDNCOP · 29/12/2018 20:40

koosh and drew the eye up with a jaunty pie crust or sailor collar!

Tortycat · 29/12/2018 20:41

I particularly liked that the Carolina Herrera dress above had pockets. Must help with the 'what to do with hands' dilemma!

Hairydilemma · 29/12/2018 21:08

Thanks for that retrospective, Queen. I’d forgotten this dress, which is probably one of my favourites of Meghan’s this year.

I do realise the thread has moved on slightly, but watching the leaving from church video my impression of Harry was that he was watching the ground for Meghan, he seemed very tense on the irregular path, relaxed on the road, and tensed again on the grass, like he was worrying Meghan would fall, normal first time dad stuff I think Smile

Now I'm off to look at those retrospectives!

IdaBWells · 29/12/2018 21:32

Was the navy dress Caroline Herrera? I thought it was Ralph Lauren. Was there something similar that was Lauren? Maybe her Palazzo pants at Wimbledon? I'm thinking classic blues and whites and the American preppy style when saying "similar".

That is a lovely dress as it is relaxed but would take you almost anywhere.

Paradyning · 29/12/2018 21:37

It was CH. that was at the polo I think there's a funny video of her walking in heels not very well.

kooshbin · 29/12/2018 21:49

Oh, yes, TSSDNCOP - anything to divert attention from the evidence that people had had, you know, sexual relations. I do like the modern trend of bumps being on show.

Natasha Archer, Kate's stylist is included in the new year's honours list. The DM have managed to make this into a feud / staff leaving issue.
It could be a) for long service b) she may well be leaving as she had a baby.
Would also explain why Kate likes her work uniform; no need for a stylist.

IdaBWells · 29/12/2018 23:07

Thanks Paradyning I guess it looks very Lauren. She word RL to Wimbledon and to Louis’ christening. I thought the shape of the Christening outfit was lovely and very flattering but wasn’t keen on the olive colour. Is just seemed very drab when it was event which would’ve been a great opportunity for a lovely clear color.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/12/2018 23:12

''Pippa in the DM'
Someone will be along to ID the parks.
They all.look.very countrified and a bit royal; especially James with.his beard and mud splattered land rover.

That olive dress to Louis' christening was horrible. They had to put a filter on the official photos to tone down her dress.

BertrandRussell · 29/12/2018 23:23

“6Just have to share that I have ordered myself something from Heavenly Necklaces.”

Did you like it ? I bought something for dd’s Christmas, an it was nice, but incredibly expansive, I thought.....

IdaBWells · 30/12/2018 01:19

Curly it was bespoke and such an unusual colour to choose. I can only think that she ordered it originally for a different event and then for some reason chose to wear it to the christening. The hat and shoes were all colour matched perfectly. It is such an odd choice, I find it quite puzzling.

IdaBWells · 30/12/2018 01:28

I guess it’s very subjective as quite a few fashion journos online gave her a thumbs up for this outfit and felt that olive is a “new neutral”. Maybe in the autumn but I am not convinced for this event.

SenecaFalls · 30/12/2018 01:35

I liked the olive dress. It's a tricky color to wear, but I think she pulled it off. The dress was beautifully cut and the accessories were very chic. I don't understand why people think the color was an odd choice. Are only certain colors acceptable for christenings in the UK?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/12/2018 01:50

Really not getting the hate for the olive dress, I think she looked stunning it really suited her colouring and it was beautifully cut, a hit in my book. I’m also not getting the love for the Anne Boleyn headbands either, such an odd choice for a young woman in her thirties she really does not need to go into Queen mother territory just yet.

IdaBWells · 30/12/2018 02:03

As I said, I liked the dress and it was very flattering just not the colour.

IdaBWells · 30/12/2018 02:06

Max wears them too, so maybe it’s a good compromise when you are royal and want to make an outfit more formal but without the faff of a hat. I think both Catherine and Max wear them really well. I like that they’re unusual too.

I can appreciate they’re not everyone’s cup of tea.
