OMG, the FIFTH WWW 10yy Boot Camp of 2007, all welcome

WideWebWitch · 25/06/2007 08:45

This is week ONE of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I will post everyone's stakes as posted on the last thread later. Have a day off to spend in bed and at cinema with dh, who is out dropping off both children

Oh winnie, echo batters, anything we can do let us know won't you? x

Day started well with granola and packing a lunch but then HORRID woman at work (who dislikes me for work related reaons) said 'oooh, have you got some news?' while pointing at my stomach, i.e. asking if I was pregnant. No, I'm just fat, I repled and stalked off. She didn't apologise, just had a gleam in her eye. Cow. but also

Anyway, then boss offered to buy me lunch so had a pork and apple sandwich with salad and crisps but turned down the chips. Although I did have 2 glasses of wine at boss's suggestion. Still, no supper for me, dh and I are KNACKERED and going to bed at 8 ish. We were up until midnight (foolish but fun) and then dd woke in the night.

So, no exercise
some water
no sunscreen but didn't go out
2 glasses of wine
will take make up off in a minute

I think Monsoon sizes are big aren't they? I have a Monsoon skirt in a size only one bigger than I want to be and I can get into it. and my other skirts are a size up.
Anyway, it's all irrelevant if I look fking pregnant. Motivating anyway, in the worst possible way. I'm sure it'll all look better after an early alcohol free night.

If I wasn't so knackered I'd walk tonight but I just can't face it.

yoyo · 26/06/2007 20:02

Winnie - really sorry that you are feeling so low. She will grow up and hopefully realise what a wonderful Mum you are.

WWW - it isn't so much the size of the Monsoon clothes as I am more than happy to wear larger sizes if they look better. It was just that they both looked awful. Really awful.

Had Pilates today which was brilliant. Have been fairly busy with bits and pieces but did eat a hugely calorifc fish pie for tea. Am thinking of going to the gym as I will not be able to tomorrow. Had a lovely time this afternoon running after DS - haven't done that for some time. It was a really giggly, silly sort of hour - I don't do it enough.

iota · 26/06/2007 20:05

2 x Krispy Creme donuts and 2 x glasses of white wine today...

need I say more

cerys · 26/06/2007 21:19

Winnie - so sorry to hear about your problems with your DD. Well done on resisting the contents of the fridge.
BTW, I have only been running for 18 months - I never liked running at school. If you saw me you wouldn't think I can run at all, as I am a curvy size 16, and I certainly don't look like I am built for it! I am not fast, but my fitness has slowly improved and I can now run 9 miles . And it helps calm me down after a bad day etc.

WWW, your colleague sounds a right cow. I look pregnant most of the time too and still haven't found the perfect retort to the dreaded question.

hope everyone else is OK?

WideWebWitch · 27/06/2007 07:33

Newly motivated here:

wheatgrass shot
milk thistle tablet
perfeck skin multivit
agnus castus pmt tablet

have packed
granola
soup
brazils, walnuts, pine nuts and goji berries
apples
strawberries, blueberries, cherries
and we're having cod wrapped in prosciutto on green beans for supper
it looks dingy enough to walk, taking my trainers to work anyway

swedishmum · 27/06/2007 08:23

Not a bad day yeasterday - I remembered not to eat bread (makes me feel very lethargic but I love toast) and had asparagus, mushrooms and peppers chargrilled for lunch. Ended up in Pizza Hut with kids as dh away and it filled in the time during youth club run 10 miles away but I just had a salad. Spent lots of the day drinking tea with friends so not active but good on happiness front - being stuck in the middle of nowhere while dh is working abroad has nearly sent me over the edge more than once. With 4 kids, working on some positive things for me to do is a major factor for me. Off to work now - unpaid, sadly, but I enjoy not being mum for a morning.

prufrock · 27/06/2007 09:54

Yesterday crap really. Drove all the ay to Nottingham (1h 40mins) to meet insurance company srveyor at my late Grandma's falling down and therefore unsellable house. I called him before setting off to make sure he was still able to get there (he was coming from north of nottingham) and he said he had checked out the roads and he'd be fine. Just as I pulled into Grandma's drive I got a call from him to say he was stuck because M1 was closed. Well duh - I bloody knew that, that's why I called at 9am and gave you the chance to cancel

So I went to have lunch with my Mum (prawn salad in pitta) and drove back home. All with ds in the back. We played lots and lots of I spy.

Then I ate 2 fishfingers and a ready made curry. but I did have brown rice and in my defense I am trying to clear out freezer before holiday (did I mention I was going on holiday?)

But no alcohol still (so I've only had wine twice with nice dinners in the last 4 weeks) and drank lots of water.

feetheart · 27/06/2007 11:32

Cappucino - are you out there? Sadly I am having to join you on the anti-candida thing as I seem to have developed 2 separate infections in my mouth and I'm now on antibiotics. In order to avoid rampant thrush (sorry if TMI!) I am back on no sugar, no yeast products, no alcohol for at least 3 weeks. Excellent for serious Boot Camping but may need a little support on fighting the sugar demons

Winnie - how are you feeling today? Have you had a look at some of the support groups for families? As others have said - what can we do to help?

Batters (and anyone else) - CAT me for yummy chicken and chorizo recipe.

Prufrock - stupid surveyor. Hope I-spy didn't wear too thin.

WWW - and at RUDE colleague, may the wrath of MN descend on her!

Aarrggh! - need to pick up DD - another Moron dash coming up!!!!

moo · 27/06/2007 11:43

Well, I'm doing OK food-wise (sushi for lunch yesterday, made paella for dinner - skipped breakfast again; I'll get some Special K, Marina) but I'm full of a cold and thoroughly fed-up. Had a crappy morning (see snail ate my microwave manual thread) and I'm still not dressed and I haven't done any work and oh woe is me, boo hoo, blah blah blah.

And that's pathetic because some people have real reason to be fed up - I'm so sorry about your dd, winnie.

That woman at work sounds like an A1 cow, www (and I don't bandy about cow as an insult lightly ).

And it's raining again...

tortoiseSHELL · 27/06/2007 13:17

www at your colleague! Stupid woman.

Winnie - so sorry you're having such an awful awful time. (((hug)) to you.

Not a great start to the week, so will skip over Mon/Tues (blame PMT I think). Today so far - carrots/cucumber/pepper dips with humous (sp?), and couscous with Meditteranean veggies.

bamamama · 27/06/2007 13:27

This is not going well. Walking over an hour a day but that's it. Then Dh came home last night with wine so today I've eaten my body weight in toast with jam. Yesterday was mother and baby coffee and when I emptied my jean pockets out I found four tunnocks tea cake wrappers plus a kit kat wrapper. This of course doesn't include the stuff that was wrapperless. oh dear.

Pamina, I thought of you today, having a screen everyone can see at work, that's a right pita.

Swedishmum, being on your own with 4 in the middle of nowhere must also be a pita, glad this helps.

Prufrock, how annoying, esp since you'd checked. Fishfingers are ok! You're going on holiday? really? where are you going again? (joking!) but wow well done on the not drinking wine front, that and lack of exercise has been my major downfall the last few weeks.

Feetheart, sorry about the thing, I keep reading about sugar being a major factor in candida AND in ageing, so this thread is a good place to cut right down on it. And that includes the sugar in alcohol

Moo, thanks for sympathy and sorry about your crappy morning, hope your day's improved.

bamamama, good for walking, ahem about the tea cakes

Batters, thank you, she is vile. She doesn't work in same dept so thankfully I won't come across her often.

Anyway, I am skiiving this afternoon, (with my boss's consent so that's ok) and am def going for a walk once I'v messed about on mumsnet for a while. It's lovely and dreary here, perfect walking weather for me.

No wine last night and ALL OF US were asleep by 8.30/9pm
lots of water
just had 3 bean soup for lunch, plus 3 quails eggs and half a hard boiled normal egg

So yes Batters, I am back on STRICT boot camp.

OP posts:
bundle · 27/06/2007 14:14

loads of sunscreen
bacon sarnie for breakfast (ate it during a writing course, on the sly..)
latte
chicken mayo salad doorstop
feeling much happier since dd2 got her school place

2 beers last night (dd1's 7th bday)
along with steak/chips and a few whitebait
bed around 10pm

am taking day off work tomorrow to accompany dd1 on school trip is this a good idea? (to arsenal stadium and park)

Marina · 27/06/2007 14:21

Am so, so chuffed to hear that bundle (re the school place but also that someone at least was eating a bacon sarnie this morning) Wonderful news!
Am still reeling at the rudeness of www's colleague though, what a charmer.
We can lose weight, but cows will always be cows
You have feisty snails up north moo hope your day improves
And at being overlooked pamina, that's a pita
Good day so far - Special K, good long walk, budgie seed and cottage cheese with fruit for lunch...must try and keep it up though

yoyo · 27/06/2007 17:31

Having a goodish day. This is all going to go wrong in a couple of hours when I shall be at the "do"! Decided on a very summery frock and now the heavens have opened! Back to black it may well have to be. Righty-ho, time for shower and to do my hair, slap on some make-up and try and enjoy the evening.

WideWebWitch · 27/06/2007 19:52

Yoyo, hope it goes well
bundle, good about the school, fab news

I WALKED yay, at last, for 2.5 miles, which iirc is only about 3000 steps (can't find the Moron, must look thoroughly tomorrow) and it was wonderful. Rainy, lush, gorgeous. I've saved a picture of the trees as wallpaper on my mobile to remind me how much I love it when I get out there.

We had cod wrapped in prosciutto with green beans and cous cous with red pepper, broccoli and raw carrots. NO WINE. I was tempted, dh offered to go and get me some even and I resisted.

Going to bed soon, feel happy. And very, very motivated.

swedishmum · 27/06/2007 20:39

I've get a cough - need to get fit for the weekend. The Feeling and Ordinary Boys with dd on Fri, Ben fromX Factor plus Sugababes with dd2 and ds on Sat plus Jools Holland on Sun pm. Hope the weather's good . Also invited to a couple of parties. How come it all happens at once? Will look at least 10 years older by Monday [wink}!

winnie · 27/06/2007 20:54

Bootcampwise all going well (although could drink more water than I am).

Returned to work today. Felt very anxious about it but it was ok.

winnie · 27/06/2007 20:55

Thank you all for your kind wishes x

bamamama · 27/06/2007 21:41

measuring this by how far away from goals now....only a small piece of cake this afternoon and a limited glass of wine this evening... I did walk for an hour (and got caught in a hail storm ffs ) and have been alternating wine with herbal tea. Tomorrow will be better. Possibly. Will go to bed once I've stopped half watching Rome. Night night.

yoyo - how was the 'do'?

TheDuchessOfNorks · 27/06/2007 23:57

www - crab and lobster salad. Mmmmm.

tortoiseSHELL - show me the chickens!!! How exciting. Are you watching them all the time? Can you do a really good impression of the soft-cluck sound they make? I do it all the time. I'm probably known locally as 'that mad chicken woman'.

You should all be blinded by my blinging halo as I ran 5k yesterday. Thought I'd have an easy day today to let my legs recover but have clocked up over 18,000 steps. In fact I haven't done less than 14,000 for over a week.

Big ticks to lots of water, good diet, no booze, vast amounts of running & walking, lots of moisturiser. But I'm still going to bed too late though (halo dims suddenly).

Glad I found the thread again.

tortoiseSHELL · 27/06/2007 23:59

Yes, I do that Brraauu noise all the time! As soon as I get the pictures on the computer I'll put them up.

Can you have a look here and advise me??? Thanks!

I'm very impressed with your spelling for 'Brraauu'. Perfect!
