OMG, the FIFTH WWW 10yy Boot Camp of 2007, all welcome

WideWebWitch · 25/06/2007 08:45

This is week ONE of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I will post everyone's stakes as posted on the last thread later. Have a day off to spend in bed and at cinema with dh, who is out dropping off both children

Go for it waynetta.

Am off for my interview today and strangely although I am not sure I want the job a little nervous. Anyway porridge for breakfast should set me up properly.

glitterfairy · 29/06/2007 08:03

Oh tortoishell I am sorry sounds a nightmare.

WaynettaSpice · 29/06/2007 08:07

Thanks glitterfairy, and good luck with your interview.

Marina · 29/06/2007 08:52

Yoyo, that's what I call a result, what a lovely evening you had
MI hope she feels better properly soon - I hate this flop/frolic cycle. Ds was in tears this morning because "bloody Pea" (as she is currently known) was having a lie-in and he thought her chin had made her seriously ill. Thanks all for the kind words.
Waynetta, I use that excuse too, and I really need to do something about it. Sympathies
Good luck with the interview glitterfairy, and with keeping the chickens and the offspring well, tortoiseshell. Sorry to hear about Sarah Jemima. Dh had salmonella very badly some years ago, I know how nasty it can be (didn't take him to the vet though).
Good start to today breakfastwise but stair-rodding rain meant for the first time in six weeks I didn't do my morning strut. Need to get large attractive raincoat with functioning hood methinks
Winnie, hope work return continues to go well.

winnie · 29/06/2007 09:21

Marina, is there such a thing as an attractive raincoat that functions?
lol at 'bloody pea'... bless
GF, good luck today
TS, I am glad to hear the other hens are ok. I would really, really love to have some hens
WSpice, welcome
Yoyo, glad the 'do' was good and you got compliments.

I am feeling rather more balanced at the moment. Have lost another couple of pounds and am definitely in the swing of the bootcamp (although I do feel constantly exhausted at the moment which is a pita)

have a good Friday all

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2007 10:33

Swedishmum, that sounds like a great social life, enjoy!

Winnie, I'm glad going back to work was ok

Bamamama, it's better than a LARGE piece of cake or wine

Dof Norks, I am impressed by that blinding halo, my word it's large!

Batters, oooh, I hope your lunch today is lovely

Marina, oh poor dd glad I'm not the only tree hugger

Talking of which, MI, you are SO not a tree trunk, you are surely a size 10 or something? Believe me, you're SMALL. Youth is so wasted on the young innit? Give ME some of that flat stomached toned thigh stuff and I'd know what to do with it Long time since I've had that but the fat has at least plumped out some wrinkles. I too work with some gorgeous younger people but hey.

Tortoishell, I was envying you your chickens big time until the death, oh no! Do they know yet what it was? Oh, just read, salmonella, oh no! I had it when pregnant with dd, not funny.

GF, four mile cycle, respect to you, wow, v impressive.

Yoyo, that sounds lovely and very ego boosting, marvellous, that's what this thread's all about (punches air in irritating American ra ra ra manner and receives deserved slap from everyone whereupon www returns to muttering in reserved English way)

welcome waynetta!

attractive raincoat def oxymoron. what about a kagoul? Marina, good about the lbs, well done.

Looks in
says "hello"
buggers off

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2007 10:43

Yesterday,

Granola
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
then went out for lunch and had trout followed by salmon salad followed by cheesecake, oops
but then a poussin in the evening with half a bottle of pink fizz (v moderate, am proud of myself), a short walk, must do better today and unfortunately, some pralines and cream ice cream. Still, it's gone now.

MUST walk today and will go out with dd soon and will use sunscreen.

tortoiseSHELL · 29/06/2007 10:59

Www - salmonella is what the vet said they were worried about, but have just spoken to the chicken place (you are all going to be SO bored of this chickens I can tell) and they said it was really unlikely because salmonella doesn't kill chickens!!!

I think this may just be a blip. Feeling more positive about them, and they are really really cute!

tortoiseSHELL · 29/06/2007 11:00

Yesterday, food was moderate to ok, a few blips to help with the chicken disaster (iykwim!), but I DID walk to school and back twice, which is about 3.5 miles altogether, and first time was CARRYING ds2, as dh had taken the pushchair, so felt like a real workout - he is about 20lbs!!!

TheDuchessOfNorks · 29/06/2007 11:17

Sorry about the chickens tSHELL. Will the vets contact the sellers? How long do the children have to stay out of the garden - with this rain I would imagine that all bacteria will soon be washed away.

I haven't been running this morning as I am too busy doing last minute organising of pre-school summer events and DS has gone to visit his new school and I have to go pick him up in a minute. Oh yes, and we're having torrential rain. That put me off a bit too!

Winnie - well done for getting back in the swing of bootcamp, this thread and the running thread are really helping me to keep on track (running pun unintentional, please ignore).

TheDuchessOfNorks · 29/06/2007 11:20

Sorry for x-post on chickens there tSHELL! I started my message about half an hour ago but got sidetracked before I posted it!

feetheart · 29/06/2007 11:55

TortoiseSHELL - sorry about chicken disaster. How have the children been about it, bet they aren't happy about being kept indoors?
at carrying 20lbs to school!!

Yoyo - evening sounds wonderful. I'm hoping for some of your confidence vibes as we are going out for a meal tonight with a load of DH's business networking group. I only know a few of them slightly and am hoping it isn't going to be all shop talk.

Waynetta - welcome! I used the FT SAHM thing as my excuse, any excuse that fits really!!

Marina - LOL at 'Bloody Pea'! I think DS is shaping up to be our accident-on-legs child. DD is way too cautious but DS was walking at 10mths and tends to go for the 'no sense, no fear' approach to life!

I seem to be surviving the no sugar/no yeast diet so far (it has only been just over 3 days of what will be at least 3 weeks!) I'm eating even more fruit and have found that a banana in a wrap makes a damn good snack on the run!

Really need to work on excercise for non-preschool days, seem to resort to sloth mode when we don't need to go anywhere. I'm stunned by your Moron count DuchessofNorks

bamamama · 29/06/2007 12:01

today going a little better. It's only when I consciously decide to be good that I get a craving for all things muffiny so I'm just pretending that I could have some cake if I wanted it I just wont. Lots of herbal tea and water, some vigourous (sp?) housework (it was filthy), a walk this afternoon and try not to realise that it's Friday and wine should be poured.

How are the chickens? Afraid to say when first heard of untimely death my initial thought was "could you eat it?" This coming from the woman who, until a few months ago, had been a strict veggie of 20 years standing. I have def turned my back on the way of Tofu....

Enjoy your Friday afternoon!

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2007 18:12

Granola
3 segments of Laughing Cow lite
a packet of Wotsits
2 pieces prosciutto
loads of shrimps for lunch, cooked in butter and garlic with a brown roll, which I dipped in the juices, having put butter on it and squeezed lemon juice and black pepper over it, delicious, prob still only 400 cal the lot
a peach
some strawberries
plenty of water prob less than usual though
and going for a 2 mile walk NOW, as dh is back

Not feeling happy though, don't know why. No big deal, just one of those days.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 29/06/2007 18:38

Salmonella, oh Shell.

I am massively hungry today (suspect this is partly because I'm tired, also because I've not drunk enough water) but am managing to stay roughly on the straight and narrow, apart from the scrapings from the bowl of raw brownie mix (SWong, with the special Touch of Inferiority bestowed by using fudgy dark muscovado sugar). Tomorrow, which involves the very lovely Bink and her offspring plus another old mate, will I suspect be a cakefest culminating in Bellinis .

However, as I have avoided completely losing my temper with the Inferiorettes, I reckon I'm owed a spot of cake.

DP not back till late Sunday, I now gather.

glitterfairy · 29/06/2007 18:38

According to my friend who is a vet says it is unusal for a chicken to die of salmonella but they do and it could be any number of things as they die of all sorts of weird and wonderful diseases.Hope this helps tortoishell.

Thanks everyone the interview went well I will hear next week.

Well done Winnie!

tortoiseSHELL · 29/06/2007 18:56

Am feeling a bit more positive about the chickens - if it's salmonella then we'll deal with it, but having relistened to the message etc, I think they are doing 'worst case scenario', and preventing a public health problem, rather than saying 'we think it iS this', so all is not lost. The other two look very very happy!

tortoiseSHELL · 29/06/2007 18:56

Thanks gf - that's really good to know!

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2007 20:44

Good luck Gf. MI, bellinis sound lovely.

I didn't walk. Got out and it was HOT and I couldn't stand it so came back.

About to eat sausages, drink wine and watch Peep Show with dh. Happy weekend everyone.

OP posts:
swedishmum · 30/06/2007 08:53

I spent all of yesterday outside (with sunscreen of course) getting soaked in the am watching tag rugby, and rather more fun, standing in the 2nd row at The Feeling, waving my arms about and trying not to embarrass dd with my singing! Lied about my age too - signed up for email newsletters about a great new band but as everyone else's age was down as 25 or less I could hardly put 43, so wrote 19 ...... How good is this 10 years younger thing!!

winnie · 30/06/2007 10:39

Good day yesterday foodwise. I didn't drink wine even though it was Friday I probably didn't drink enough water and I didn't quite hit 10,000 steps but generally it was ok.

I have finally run out of body lotion This has never happened to me before. In fact I vaguely remember discussing on a bootcamp thread previously that i had numerous bottles and jars of the stuff and couldn't justify buying more. I've never got to the end of a bottle or jar of body lotion in my life before. In the last 6 months or so I've got through about 8

Dd is back for the weekend and we have been talking in a no pressure kind of way.

swedishmum · 30/06/2007 10:48

Excellent Winnie. Hope the weekend goes well. I know what you mean about the bottles - I'm throwing out far more empties too (beauty products, not wine!)

glitterfairy · 30/06/2007 10:50

Brilliant winnie I am really pleased for you. Well done and a huge slap on your bony back! (not hurtful at all)
