WideWebWitch · 25/06/2007 08:45

This is week ONE of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I will post everyone's stakes as posted on the last thread later. Have a day off to spend in bed and at cinema with dh, who is out dropping off both children

Ds is getting blase sobernow but dd loves to hear about it all

bamamama · 25/06/2007 12:14

Hello all. Well as I found that I lost no weight or rejuvenated myself by simply lurking on the previous 4 boot camps here I am dragging my sorry arse in for duty. Having had a bit of a weekend of it food and booze wise then it's time to get a grip. The early bed and the exercise bit should be easy, it's the no booze and water element that will be tricky. ttfn!

WInnie you can do it! I have so much to lose overall that it falls off easily at first. If I am strict with myself and exercise weight loss isnt a problem and to be honest should have been more by now but for my last few weeks of rubbish eating and resting.

Nice run (I like the rain) but a bit sluggish after the swim and resting for the last week.

NOw off to finish my courgette and dill soup and start some work and housework .

Capps fantastically well done by the way, hope all is clear.

WWW your day is making me green with

prufrock · 25/06/2007 12:59

ooh www was that an invitation to show off again?

Ok we are going to MILs first - her house isjust above Bridgetown and this is the nearest beach.

Then we go here for 2 weeks, then on to here. unfortunately I think that by the timw we get to the unbelievably glamorous Four Seasons I will have undone al my good work by indulging in Banks beer, battered flying fish sandwiches. coconut ice cream and peanut milk

tortoiseSHELL · 25/06/2007 14:12

Hope you're having a lovely day off www!!!

yoyo · 25/06/2007 14:44

I didn't have a particularly good week last weeek and felt miserable because I only got to the gym once and had to miss my Pilates class. I also had a Chinese on Friday which I don't like but everyone else does. I try not to be fussy in front of the children so ended up having a bit of everything.

I did go to the gym yesterday though and have been again today. DH is out tonight so will go to bed early and try and get interested in my book.

Have to go to posh do this week and have just tried to find something to wear. Not looking good. My one black dress is too heavy and I have worn it umpteen times this year. My lovely evening trousers are too tight and all my other stuff is smart daytime stuff. Bugger. Really don't fancy an emergency dash to buy something but really want to look good as people generally only see me in casual stuff. Anyone bought anything lately that they would recommend?

iota · 25/06/2007 14:52

I've been out of touch for ages now - holiday and internet problems - but need to get back on some kind routine. Today's out - dh's birthday and have already eaten almond croissant, hotel chocolat truffles and bacon sandwich plus dinner out tonight (I'm driving so no alcohol at least) - but I'll be back to good eating habits tomorrow.

WideWebWitch · 25/06/2007 17:38

Moo, helllllllllllo! Welcome, I don't think we've seen you around these parts before have we?

Monkeytrousers, put another 0 on the end of that and you're closer. Are you boot camping or just popping in to take the piss Missus?

Cerys, well done on the race, fab. Don't worry about weight, this is about feeling good etc

Sobernow, Marina, ahhh, I like that idea of reliving their births on their birthdays. Although dd's was so traumatic, maybe not!

Bamamama, welcome!

lol at "I have no interest in hearing your voice" batters!

GF, I like the rain too, long may it last

Prufrock, that was indeed an invitation to show off, wow, that looks fab.

Yoyo, well done on gym going. Does it matter that you've worn something before?

Iota, come back here this instant!

Swedishmum, welcome back.

Lunch was

Warm glazed goat's cheese with black pudding and poached cider apples

followed by lobster and crab salad

and a selection of cheeses with a glass of port

all washed down with 2 bottles of Muscadet

I went to the loo twice (2.5 hour lunch) and each time there were TINY babies in there being changed, god, they were GORGEOUS. Both about 12 weeks and the second only about 10lb (dd was 9lb 8oz at birth) and I coo-ed over both of them and held their fingers and they smiled at me and I went back to the table saying "are we sure we don't want a last one?" - I don't, really, but I'm 40 and if we did would have to crack no NOW. I think it's just knowing the decision is out of my hands soon that's making me ponder. But no, we decided we don't, not really. My littlest sister is pregnant though and due in Feb so there will be a baybee to cluck over soon so that'll have to do me.

Have just got up and dh has gone to collect the children.

RIGHT, serious boot camping from tomorrow for me!

Sounds like a lovely lunch

OK, I didn't have any breakfast (that's probably not good, is it?) but I had an M&S hot smoked salad thing for lunch (and it had spinach leaves in it so that must be good) and I made Pasta Puttanesca for dinner and I didn't have any Parmesan and I didn't eat ds2's leftovers.

Didn't do any exercise but I did do some painting up a ladder - that'll do.

I will probably have to go to bed at 8 o' clock though so I don't eat - evenings are my danger time.

moo · 25/06/2007 19:08

Oh and I only had one cup of coffee and I did drink water.

glitterfairy · 25/06/2007 19:47

Evenings are probably everyones danger times moo.

Less occupied and more tv always a bad combination.

Am now eating sea bass and brocoli and jersey royals! Yum. Have been to the fishmonger which always makes me wonder why I like chocolate, cream and cakes.

www yummy food mmmmmmm.

jenk1 · 25/06/2007 20:49

hello.
id like to join as this sounds really good.
i will start tomorrow.

yoyo · 25/06/2007 20:55

Had a traumatic time in Monsoon trying on two evening dresses. Mirror, lighting and me - all in need of help. Oh how I hate buying clothes and why do I always leave it until the last minute?

WWW - the black dress has been seen too many times unfortunately. I was slightly embarrassed the last time I wore it. DH tells me the women all dress to the nines for this one (could have mentioned this a few weeks back!).

Prufrock - wow! What a holiday. If that isn't incentive enough for you then I can't imagine what would be. It looks absolutely amazing.

Have Pilates tomorrow and may also try and get to the gym. Those mirrors....

glitterfairy · 26/06/2007 08:04

yoyo I love buying clothes but not if I have to IYSWIM. WHenver I know I must get something I cant find it but if I am out for something else wherever I look there are clothes, perhaps that is part of the problem the pressure to get something.

Went to bed on time last night for once and then couldnt get up this morning. I think I had too much sleep.

Am having a really bad morning... I can't stop crying again. Feel like dd is lost to me and I don't know how I reconcile myself to it

I haven't raided the fridge yet though

swedishmum · 26/06/2007 12:52

Feeling a bit out of touch but sorry you're having such a difficult time Winnie. Keep out of that fridge!

Marina · 26/06/2007 13:12

Oh winnie, sending you lots of love and fridge-repelling vibes. I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be for you at the mo XXX

moo, try Special K - any of the varieties. It is a good, quick breakfast

Yoyo, whatever you do, don't, don't, don't take a caravan holiday - mirrors everywhere to make a limited space (and a porky Boot Camp member) look BIGGER. Horrible

Am off to strut stuff and purchase cottage cheese

Am good on the happiness front at the mo - aside from the body image isshoo of course

A healthy, happy day to all!

glitterfairy · 26/06/2007 13:23

Winnie dont despair. She will grow up and come back, she may even regret it. PM me but I left/was told to leave home at 16 and expelled from school for really appalling behaviour and drug taking. Honestly I dont regret it but I really had to work hard to get back to any normality and did evening classes and my degree after work. Now I have kids of my own I hate to think what my mum went through but honestly dont ever despair there is always hope.

I am reading Lance armstongs book every second counts at the moment which has once again inspired me. I need it as I have let myself go the last few weeks but am getting back now. Still my running has suffered. It is amazing how much muscle you lose so fast.
