Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Judy and Myeyes numbers 14-24 are as yet unclaimed, plus, 5, 6, and 12. (I hope I haven't missed anyone's earlier request?).

Judy - to minimise personal data exchange, I'd reckoned matching people into random pairs and then getting them to PM each other their addresses was probably the way to go, but open to ideas. How would your suggestion work?

MrsLucas · 10/11/2018 21:31

Maintaining the online calendar should be easy. I can send the link so people can edit with their own update, on their day. That way we can all enjoy clicking on a door everyday and reading what that day's scent was. A brief description would be fab if people are up for it Smile.

MrsLucas · 10/11/2018 21:32

It's already built [[here].

MrsLucas · 10/11/2018 21:33

Whoops, here.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2018 21:36

I’ve done SS on other forums/groups where people share their address with the organiser, then they do some sort of a draw and message the details to the chosen partner. So each participant only had one other person’s personal info, but the Co-ordinator had all of it. Happy to do whatever suits though!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2018 21:38

Oh, that is amazing! 🎄🎄🎄

SheHasNotions · 10/11/2018 21:43

MrsL - bloody well done on the advent calendar! How exciting Grin!

SOTE Guerlain Love Is All, which I think is discontinued. A mid noughties release. Freesia abd pink pepper galore. Very lovely.

Calmanddance · 10/11/2018 21:44

Happy, do try Hypnotic Poison. Also, if the Debenhams is a large branch, they may stock Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540. Very sweet caramelly burnt sugar with lots going on besides, it is strangely compulsive and offputting at the same time. Beautiful (and very expensive 😱 )!

MrsLucas, I’m happy to send three samples but also won’t mind reducing the number if there are any latecomers.

My SOTD was Carner Besos, a sweet distinctive jasmine/ iris/ vanilla/ musk.

After my disappointment in the shops I am in L'aimant, which is lovely!

MrsLucas · 10/11/2018 21:56

Thanks Judy. Keen that people control their own data sharing, and by working in pairs, this will be kept to an absolute minimum.

Can anyone advise on whether 'Perfumistas Calendar' needs an apostrophe - and if so where! I hate apostrophes after an S
with a vengeance. Guessing it should properly be Perfumistas' as we are a regular plural noun?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2018 22:12

Yes, after the S. The calendar belonging to the perfumistas, of which there are many. As a new graduate I worked as a subtitler in TV, and viewers would strongly complain about apostrophe misuse. Now when I mark student work I am the equivalent of an irate hearing impaired viewer.

@Judy

You wouldn’t know it from my shitty, typos-galore MN typing, but I was a journalist and sub editor before going in to education. I have similar pedantry struggles in life Grin.

L’aimant brings back memories...

MrsLucas · 10/11/2018 22:35

Thanks, fixed Smile. Lovely to be among the literate. Grin Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2018 22:46

shehas I feel like I jinxed myself writing that, and my next posts will be typo-tastic. I am ex-PR, really - the dark side! Now I instruct my dark apprentices to annoy journalists.

At the risk of becoming an advent calendar bore, here's the latest;

This thread has an advent calendar which will double-up as a not so secret Santa.

I suggest we work this as follows:

  1. If you want to participate post here (ASAP please).
  2. I'll randomise participants into pairs.
3.I'll PM you with a) your partner's MN name and b) the date(s) you will be opening.
  1. You'll need to PM your partner and exchange details.
  2. You then wrap a small decant or sample for your partner, and send it to them in good time. (December is not very far away...).
  3. Your partner will do the same.
  4. When it is your date, you get to open the package they sent to you. NO PEEKING BEFOREHAND Grin.
  5. I'll PM you an editing link to the calendar. On your date, please open your window, and in the message field, type in a brief description. (The technically-minded have the option to add a photo).
  6. By adding your update, everyone else will be able to view the calendar, and open a window every day, to see who's receiving what.
10. There will be pesky ads (that's how we get to do this for free, but you have an option to pay a small amount to get rid of them if you really can't stand them).

Hope that sounds OK and do-able? We only have 10 participants so far, so we can either end early, or all do a couple of dates (send two wrapped samples), or I can fill the empty days with, I don't know, Luca Turin quotes?

FloofyCatHasVeryFoldableEars · 11/11/2018 11:21

I'm totally up for this Happy to rustle up two samples/decants though if we think best? I have a few peoples' addresses from previous swapsies. I really hope I don't send a sample back to someone who has sent it to me already though, that would be terribly embarrassing Grin

BookMe I know Royal Mail don't let us send perfume internationally, but is there any other couriers you know of that will? I feel like you should be included!

Happy another vote for Hypnotic Poison here, I adore it. Also the Alien flanker, I think it's Absolue Essence, or similar name. Gorgeous powerhouse. Perhaps a Perfumista should do a hand delivery, take one for the team Grin

SheHas 10 x 10 year olds? I think heroin was actually a Freudian slip and it's really what you need Grin

Angel Paloma Picasso is one of my all time favourites (in the top three at least Grin) The Perfume Parlour version of it is slightly different but still wonderful I might actually prefer it to the original these days

Judy off topic but I'm going to PM you about something you mentioned if that's ok?

Eau my Soul read like I should like it too, but it was waaaaay to sweet.
Floof! Hello lovely, I don't mind about the calendar, don't worry- my post office is currently shite (eg Mrs Gloss outdoors came back when I ebayed it because the numpties read the "sender" bit wrong)
Still in last night's PP Samsara but dd went to Zara and came back with one that is quite nice (surprisingly) Twilight Mauve. Dd says it smells Occitane-y and I see what she means.
