Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Shazam reminds me of Christmas. My mum making pomanders? Studding oranges with cloves and rolling them in arrowroot to be placed around the fire

CountFosco · 08/12/2018 02:19

I love making pomanders, it's something we always do with the kids in the run up to Christmas. Make the house smell lush.

I've been at my works Christmas Party this evening (hence the late post - SotE MG Fire) but just wanted to say the lovely MrsL gave me two perfumes for yesterday, the vintage Cabochard and Or Black 2014 which is a fougere that properly has a change over of notes between the top notes and the base notes. It goes from quite a fresh masculine mix of the top notes of citron, lavender and rosemary and a kind of fresh mintiness that I'm not sure if it's a combination of the listed notes or there is actually some mint in there. Then a couple of hours later it mutates and becomes all musky with a touch of violet. Absolutely gorgeous and comforting. It was brilliant and very clever. Thankyou so much for sending me these samples, I've found both so interesting and can't wait to see what is in my next parcel!

Henhausfrau, if you go to fragrantica you can search eg for lime under either “perfumes” or “notes”. I can see Bronnley have a Lime & Bergamot cologne which is widely available in Boots. I have no idea what it’s like though!

Lovely review mrsr8

Judy, what did you say the third sample you sent to me was?

Lotsofpots · 08/12/2018 09:43

Great review Mrsr8 - need to get a sniff of that myself now!

MrsLucas · 08/12/2018 10:12

Great to hear how you got on with them Count.

That's a lovely review for ACdC MrsR8.

Henhaus - I haven't tried the Geo F Trumper Extract of Limes but it's been going since 1880, so could be worth a sniff?

UnnecessaryFennel · 08/12/2018 11:06

What was the deleted message??

SOTD is MH Powdered Veil, courtesy of the lovely floofy. Although at the mo I mainly smell of garlic and ginger as am having a clear-out-the-fridge day and making lots of spicy winter soups. The house smells fab! So I will have to have a shower and do a proper sniff test on the PV later I think.

Lovely review mrs8. I'm really enjoying reading the advent calendar reviews.

Sotd is Serge Lutens le participe passé. It's gorgeous- smells like burnt caramel to me. I keep thinking it would be the perfect bonfire night perfume.

CountFosco · 08/12/2018 15:55

SotD Tea Tonique. Simple citrussy tea but I know from other unassuming MH scents that the more you wear them the more you appreciate them. And I like the balance of citrus top notes (bergamot and lemon). Sometimes too much bergamot smells too masculine for me.

teta · 08/12/2018 17:30

I’m really enjoying the reviews too. It’s the first thing I click on in the morning. I can experience a perfume through someone else’s eyes and senses and it doesn’t cost anything. Mrs r8 your delight is lovely to see.
Tam Dao layered with Malle Une Rose is my perfume today. I’ve been looking for a Rose to layer with the Sandalwood. These go pretty well together and Une Rose doesn’t clash like the La fille de Berlin did. Une Rose is slightly honeyed in the basenotes and this offsets the dry rather spicy notes in the Tam Dao.

Alaia Paris today. Possibly my most favourite ever.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/12/2018 21:27

shehas there was the Miu Miu, an Atelier one, and Tauer Lonestar Memories I think?

SOTD was Hyperbole which arrived yesterday. Love it. DP not keen, he hates anything even vaguely vanilla-y.
