Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Ignore me - said I was being dim !

SpeckledyHen · 01/12/2018 19:44

The H & B ones look perfect - thank you Calm . I’ll check them out along with L’ Occitane .

Lotsofpots · 01/12/2018 19:55

@SpeckledyHen diptyque sell a number of their fragrances in a roller ball. They're not cheap but they are gorgeous.

Teta your parcel was opened today and it is so lovely and you are so generous. It made my day, thank you.

SOTE Rochas Femme. I need to wear this more often. The best fruity chypre ever!

Fantastiqueangel · 01/12/2018 20:43

I have just ordered about eight fragrance samples, which is a new thing for me. I'm excited!

XingMing · 01/12/2018 21:03

I thought I posted earlier to thankMrsL for the packet delivered this morning, but it's not showing so I failed. Waiting the longest but will enjoy when Christmas comes.

SoTD is Chergui. Honey and incense, and very comforting and a bit romantic. Sexy is going too far as DH has the most appalling cold.

Ollivander84 · 01/12/2018 21:05

SOTD sexiest scent. I had a photo shoot and it seems to be my go to when I'm modelling!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2018 21:27

SOTD Black Opium again. No idea why I am suddenly so keen on this, is it the weather?

Dlpdep · 01/12/2018 21:31

You would be very proud of my perfume adventures this weekend through duty free and European capital cities. First off, I sprayed By Killian ‘Love’ which was a gorgeous grown up sweetie caramel that wasn’t over sweet and had huge longetivity. Followed by serge Lutens femintes Du bois and creed aventus. Get thee behind me Satan!

toffee1000 · 02/12/2018 01:30

So yep I did actually wear the Be Delicious yesterday (1st). At first there’s a note of cucumber, which is nice but you don’t really think of cucumber as having a smell. Then settles down and becomes more apple-y floral.
I think I found it by googling “apple perfume” and finding a Mumsnet thread about it.

SheHasNotions · 02/12/2018 09:08

I’ve posted my advent review but forgot to sign my name (Sorry!).

DIpdep, I can never find Killian Love...really want to try it. Sounds my kind of thing.

MrsLucas · 02/12/2018 09:19

Great review Notions! (I can see I'm going to end up with a very long list at the end of this...).

CountFosco · 02/12/2018 09:23

Very impressed with the perfumistas getting their comments up nice and early in the advent calendar. I have rebellion from my kids because I'm so disorganised and didn't have the asvent stuff out first thing yesterday (we have Christmas books and DVDs that are only allowed between 1 Dec and 12th night).

Christmas baking here today (gingerbread etc). SotD MH Powdered Veil. Rhubarb and Amber so far!

Fantastiqueangel · 02/12/2018 09:52

Rhubarb and amber sounds good! Can't decide today. Maybe Ghost Deep Night?

UnnecessaryFennel · 02/12/2018 10:40

I'm really tempted by Powdered Veil (and Peau Santal).

SOTD is Amberama. I'm liking this a lot more than I did first time I wore it. The raspberry note isn't overpowering; it just sweetens the amber a little. Not the usual 4160 fruit-fest, for which I'm thankful.

Yesterday was 4160 London 1969.

I love the lemony spicy start - there's something in there that I can't put my finger on that I like a lot. Coriander? Not sure!

It didn't last all day though, I put in on at 7am and it was gone by lunch. The lady wisps were a bit cakey and creamy. Nice but faint.

I like it but I don't adore it. I wanted to adore it because in London in 1969 I was a small child, watching the moon landings on the tiny black and white tv at the flat of a friend of my mum's...it doesn't smell of that!

I'm meant to be having a belated stir-up Sunday.

Contemplating layering Le Participe Passe and Captured by Candelight, to get a nostalgic, rich, Christmassy smell, but I only have a little sample of Le PP, and it is deeply intriguing, so don't know if I should save it for solo outings? After a savoury green phase, it's a blanket of rich, deep, sweet balsamic comfort. Without spice. Interesting! Fuggy texture - bit like White Queen (although smell is completely different).

Ollivander84 · 02/12/2018 15:36

SOTD - 4160 - New York 1955

XingMing · 02/12/2018 16:23

Perfume Parlour offer roller ball versions of their perfume oils. I'm not that keen but would happily post a random one to you to see if you like the style. PM me if yes.

SoTD is Chergui again. It's a go to for this time of year.

CountFosco · 02/12/2018 16:52

Didn't get any baking done because at 9.30 DH checked and the Santa Run was today at 10.30 and not next weekend as he thought! So he disappeared off with the kids and I did some wrapping instead so still productive at least.

Rhubarb didn't last long but the Amber did, still got faint traces of it now. Think Peau Santal might be tomorrows SotD.

hello Perfumistas..

I need some advice on what to look for as a present for a good friend who had asked for perfume for a special birthday .. She likes flowery /layered scents and I know she has has Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir.. ..

Its not my kind of scent preference at all , so I am a bit stumped as what else to look for .

I was wondering about Marc Jacobs Daisy , but any other ideas ?

Thanks
