Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Morning all.

Just looked at our advent calendar. How exciting! 🎄 Ambre Imperial sounds right up my street.

No SOTD yet. Torrential weather outside and am off to do a food shop. I might wait until I get back and can snuggle up in something warn & inviting.

FloofyCatLovesChristmas · 01/12/2018 10:36

Ooh the amber one sounds perfect for this time of year. I love the VC & A Feerie perfume (sucker for violet!) so might investigate that one!

Hurrah for advent calendars! Ignoring the fact apparently it's not officially advent until tomorrow can you tell DH is Catholic? I'm trying to tempt my cat in to open her multiple ACs Smile

SheHas Ofsted and an EHCP review, I feel for you Brew

teta · 01/12/2018 11:30

Mrs Lucas your calendar is fantastically brilliant! I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to work before🎄.
Sympathies to everyone with Ofsteds and Ehcp reviews BrewWine. Floofy you must be smelling delightful and very clean with your lovely advent products.[santa] I bought the M&S advent calendar for Dd1. Sadly it was too heavy for her to take back to uni by train. Along with half her wardrobe. So it will be languishing on her bedside table until the 21st when she comes home.
I was very excited to receive my Sarah Ireland sample set yesterday and promptly annointed myself with all 4. Bearing in mind my cold is still here and I can only smell certain notes, they are lush and have little twists in their tail. Crushed Velvet is my Sotd. Rose, Sandalwood, Patchouli, tuberose and ylang ylang. I can tell it’s absolutely stunning but I can’t smell all of the notes Sad very frustratingly.

Who was No1 or do we have to guess???

Calmanddance · 01/12/2018 12:05

Hi “Count”, it was me! I wasn’t sure if I should “sign” it or not, but MrsL has pm’d me and we’ve agreed that it would be nice to know who has written which review. (Hope you all do too?)

Calmanddance · 01/12/2018 12:23

I have edited it to include my name 😊

Mrs8 it’s this one. Although mum got it off Amazon rather than from Debenhams. Just as well really because the 100ml version is about £70-odd from Debenhams etc whereas you can get it for half that on Amazon.

Fabulous Calm! I predict a run on Ambre Imperiale it's certainly going on my list Grin.

(If anyone would prefer to stay shrouded in a perfumed cloak of mystery, that's also just fine Smile).

MrsLucas · 01/12/2018 13:41

Count - package has arrived safely! Many thanks. Fending off DC who queue up for a sniff whenever new things arrive through the letter box. (In this, and only this, respect, I seem to have them well trained). Grin. I'm hiding it somewhere safe.

SheHasNotions · 01/12/2018 13:51

Really enjoyed your review, Calm, and yes - definitely need to sniff Ambre Imperiale now! Grin

I was half watching the cheesy Christmas film Deck the Halls today, and there is a scene where the family is staying in a hotel and don’t have a Christmas tree, so use a pine prance in a vase and hang all the minibar booze miniatures from the branch with ribbon.

Got me imagining a tree decorated with perfume miniatures. I want one!!! (But will have to do with our usual tree decorated by the DC and that ends up looking like Poundland’s Xmas section threw up on it) Grin 🎄

SheHasNotions · 01/12/2018 17:06

prance = branch

I'm quite tempted by one of the Christmas Tree in a box you get from Wild and Bloom (I have a money off voucher to sweeten it further). That covered in samples wrapped up in colourful tissue paper a la 4160T would look very Christmassy.

SheHasNotions · 01/12/2018 17:36

Sounds heavenly, Count!

SpeckledyHen · 01/12/2018 18:18

Hello Friendly Perfumistas ! My first post here and looking for some help please.
Is there such a thing as rollerball fragrances ? I’m looking for something for a relative who couldn’t use a spray .

UnnecessaryFennel · 01/12/2018 18:36

Hi Speckledy and welcome! Some perfumes can be found in rollerballs but they're not that common in the UK - for some reason they seem more popular in the US. Sephora, for example, does quite a big range of rollerball perfumes.

What sort of fragrance were you looking for?

OP posts:
UnnecessaryFennel · 01/12/2018 18:37

I'm bathed and in Creamy Vanilla Crumble. I never, ever get tired of this.

UnnecessaryFennel · 01/12/2018 18:44

I may have just ordered Clinique Beyond Rose. Bit random, but was reading Luca Turin and he gave it 4 stars, and it's cheap for a 10ml spray, and I have a soft spot for Clinique (love both Aromatics Elixir and Aromatics in White), so...how bad a blind buy can a balsamic rose be?

Am now resisting the the urge to go through the new Perfumes Guide and order samples of everything that looks vaguely interesting...

OP posts:
UnnecessaryFennel · 01/12/2018 18:48

And, of course, Wrappings Smile

teta · 01/12/2018 18:58

Speckledy L‘ Occitane do roller balls. Abahna - a natural
Perfume company do them too. My Dd loves their orange blossom & frangipani. Also Tokyo milk do them as well.

SpeckledyHen · 01/12/2018 19:21

Thank you UF and Teta for your replies . Probably something light and fresh would suit . I’m probably being dim but I can’t find the perfume company ?

Calmanddance · 01/12/2018 19:30

Hello, SpeckledyHen, Holland & Barrett sell a range of Pacifica rollerball perfumes. They are well respected and you can sample them in the shops. I have Lilac, which is very pleasant.
