Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

SotE - vintage Lanvin My Sin. Perfect, sensual cloud of lilac, clove and civet, with a hint of smoky leather.

SOTD IS MMM Music Festival. I am oddly fond of the cannabis note in this Grin

TGIF. I need to sleep for a week. GCSE dramas, teenage boys and whingey, stressed students really don't mix...

Lots of pots your advent samples went off first class yesterday. Thank you so much for your adorable package and card🎄.
Just putting in, I also love Oakmoss. Especially the oily green Oakmoss in vintage Eau de Private Collection and Wrappings. I really do think tastes change over the years too. I used to really dislike Patchouli and now find myself craving it in cold weather.
I’m really enjoying the very Christmassy smell of Liz Earle No 15 today. I predominantly get ginger/ cinnamon and patchouli. My cold is still here so I’m currently smelling perfumes through a filter!

FloofyCatLovesChristmas · 30/11/2018 11:16

Loving your work Flighty Grin

Drumming did you find anything for your DH on Fragrantica?

Lots of Perfumistas seemto be having a stressful week so hopefully the Perfume Advent Calendars will be a good distraction and nice and treaty Smile I am actually really excited for December (and perfume ACs !) It's very heart warming to think of us all sending little parcels all over the U.K. to each other even if Royal Mail sat on the one I sent first class for three days just to scare me SmileBrew

My lovely DCs have made me an homemade advent calendar again this year and I'm really looking forward to it. It's been such a difficult year here that it's so nice to have a period of mini treats and fun and relaxation 🤞🏻 to look forward to. Our decorations are even going up this weekend - DH is usually a right Grinchy Humbug Grin and normally doesn't want to put them up til Christmas Eve but even he seems to be desperate for the distractions of Christmas this year!

Oh and my cat has three advent calendars HmmGrin

On that note, SOTD is vintage Obsession, which is just perfect with warm fluffy PJs with penguins on Wink

Hello lovelies, been awol with too much work (now I have a contract they're going to get their money's worth clearly) and have also just been on a Opium/Samsara/Shalimar binge.

Something dreadful happened though-cue dramatic drumroll...I thought I'd have a tiny squirt of my beloved Lonestar Memories and the F*er has gone off!!! It smelt like oudy armpit. haven't had it that long either.

I am off to virtually visit Sephora as it's the cheapest I can find Infusions d'amande which dd wants for Christmas (because if you sign up you get a 20% code)

I love oakmoss.

I have PP Mitsouko and don't like it-too sweet for me.

I am in PP 24 Faubourg which makes me feel proper classy.

I shall try and do my own try-a-sample-a-day thing for Advent, but you know what I'm like when I get stuck on something I like!

SotD MG Fire. DD2 (who is clearly going to be a perfumista) hugged me and said I had a delightful aroma!

Came home to an exciting parcel from MrsL (has mine arrived yet? Getting worried now!) AND the TPS Niche Box. Also got a couple of other TPS Boxes for my nieces and now want to try everything in them as well! Maybe I should just order a couple more Wink

SheHasNotions · 30/11/2018 15:39

SOTD Chloe Love Story as I let DH pick my perfume (first time ever). It's usually a Spring fragrance for me, but it was OK in cooler weather, actually. Lots of neroli. Quite uplifting.

Hideous day, though. DS's Annual EHCP Review this morning which was far from joyous, then arrived at work to find we'd had The Call from OFSTED.

Going for a curry and then to the theatre tonight straight from work, so cant switch into a SOTE. Ah, well. There is always Wine.

UnnecessaryFennel · 30/11/2018 17:18

Gave up on work at 3pm today, now home to a glass of wine (or two) and something pasta-y and cheesey and bacon-y for dinner, I think.

I feel as if I've not seen proper daylight since last weekend. Get to work in the dark, can't see the sky from my office, go home in the dark. Sigh.

I topped up Music Festival with a squirt of JHaG Not A Perfume, which really boosted the rose note in the MMM. Rather nice, but I'm now craving warmth and smoke.

That's a bad blow Sud. Complain to Andy - he might send you some more? It is the season of goodwill and all that.

'Fraid not yet Count. But I'm not 'it' for ages yet, so there's plenty of time for it to turn up.

Will re-post the public link to our Perfumista Calendar in a bit so even 'non-combatants' can join in and open windows to see what's happening each day. Smile

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 30/11/2018 19:18

I am having bacony cheesey carbonaray pasta and am in Shalimar.

Ofsted. Horrible creatures. You poor thing SheHas.
Sotd was pomegranate noir. Sote is PP Gucci Envy. No idea if it's a decent copy but I like it.

Flightywoman · 30/11/2018 19:49

Today has been 4160 Rome 1963. It's started with a bit of creosote and a tiny hint of skank, but settled quite nicely, a bit like hot tarmac and dusty train stations - it hasn't lasted massively well though. I quite like it, but I don't love it in a heart-stopping "OMG I must live inside this smell forever" way.

Tomorrow I am going to the theatre, no idea what I'll choose - something I can enjoy in the car!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/11/2018 20:39

shehas your lovely parcel arrived - thanks so much!

SOTD was MG Plum, but I now smell faintly of Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax bath oil.

It's the eve of the Lovely Friendly Perfumistas' Advent Calendar. So here's a quick recap:

Everyone can view our Advent Calendar by clicking on each day's door to watch the fun unfold.

It's really a calendar/not so Secret Santa mash-up. It works like this:

  • Participating Perfumistas have been allocated one or two dates on the calendar to be 'it'.
  • Participants have been paired-up, and have sent small packages for their partners to open.
  • On their date, the Perfumista will open one of their packages.
  • Using the special link (see PM), they will go to their window and post an update or mini review or photo - whatever they fancy.
  • We'll all read and enjoy.
  • There may be pesky adverts - if they annoy you, you can pay to get rid of them.

That's it! What could possibly go wrong?
Well, potentially a couple of things, but I'm sure, between us, we'll be able to sort it out.

Huge thanks to all the lovely friendly Perfumistas who made this happen - wishing everyone a wonderful festive season, full of peace, joy and good smells.

I have a new perfume Grin I think I mentioned it before, my mum bought it a while ago but it didn’t suit her, luckily it was one I really liked! As in, seen it online (might have even been a recommendation on Mumsnet), tried it in a shop and liked the scent.
I still have three others on my “dream list”. So maybe I should ask for one for Christmas... two are much cheaper than the other one, as in both of them combined aren’t as much as the third!

Happy Advent everyone! SotD RM Signature from my Niche box. Lots of bergamot initially but other things poking through - I'm getting flashes of the pineapple and blackcurrent and rose. I already like this more than Firedance which I found quite an overpowering rose, although I should probably revisit that at some point! Looking forward to this developing.

UnnecessaryFennel · 01/12/2018 09:27

Morning all. SOTD is Chergui. A new colleague at work is a perfumista and we were fan-girling over Serge Lutens yesterday, so I thought I'd better pay homage this morning. Looking forward to hearing about Advent fun Grin
