Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

You’re right, they’re not at all alike. It’s just that it seemed strange to be able to smell the strawberry in one but not the other. I have SJP NYC, which is a fruity floral with a strong strawberry note. Too sweet for you though, MrsLucas! I think it might be a pink minger 😱, but I like it anyway (and I can smell the strawberry).

MrsLucas · 27/11/2018 23:33

Reminds me of the strawberry note in Who Knew? Missed their Pink Friday this year Sad.

I need to try more of the SJPs.

MrsLucas · 27/11/2018 23:34

Do you like White Queen Calm?

isitwinetimeyet16 · 27/11/2018 23:38

Thank you so much @calmanddance!

SJP NYC is definitely a pink minger calm Grin I need to offload my 10ml rollerball if you fancy it though! Speaking of SJP, I like the look of Twilight from the Lovely Collection - has anyone tried it?

SOTD is Prada Oeillet. My favourite of the Prada Infusion line, I think - wonderful spicy carnation with great longevity.

I think I need to try more carnation perfumes - any recommendations?

SOTD is Black Opium. I don't usually wear this for work, but it is such vile weather that it seemed appropriate.

UnnecessaryFennel · 28/11/2018 09:36

The Perfume Society have a new discovery box which looks rather interesting...

SOTD J-Lo Glow. I’ve had a bottle languishing in a drawer for years. Never liked it and couldn’t even get rid of it for pennies on eBay. Was having an indecisive morning and reached for it....and I no longer hate it. Can’t say it’s a love - very screechy, chemical opening is off putting - but it’s settled down into a soapy smell that’s not unpleasant. Still find it strange it gets so much love, though....

MissBattleaxe · 28/11/2018 10:52

Unnecessary Fennel: Twilight wasn't my favourite. It's sort of warm and golden. My friend loved it though. I liked Endless, that was gorgeous.

teta · 28/11/2018 10:57

Molecule 4 today from the Perfume discovery niche box. Though I can’t smell much as this cold is the gift that keeps on giving 😁. Overslept and late for school and have one off sick. Plus massive stuck traffic jam & school bus down narrow country lanes on school run. I need some calm & energy.

Eau My Soul again today!

FannyBurney · 28/11/2018 18:52

Lots of 4160 love today.

Me too: I've had a shitty couple of weeks and today was grim both weather-wise and in terms of the sheer amount of bollocks (unit of measurement of bollocks?) I'm having to deal with at home and at work, so I'm wearing sweet, innocent, sunny New York '55 for cheery comfort.

I got my 9ml if An Excess of Carelessness and lo! It is absolutely in the mood of the old Guerlains. It's also a sister of 4160 Oriane, I think, which I like too. I love L'heure Bleue best, of this kind of scent, but I'm delighted to be able to branch out. I also suspect L'heure Bleue has got sweeter.

Can't wear Mitsouko at all, though I love it, as it is my mum, (I learned that at an early age at a very grand 18th birthday party I was invited to when I borrowed some- it ruined my evening as I kept thinking she was there!)

MrsLucas · 28/11/2018 21:10

Fennel - LA's Oeillet Sauvage was on the TK Maxx website yesterday. CaFleureBon recommends Caron's Poivre and Bellodgia for carnation. Haven't smelt SL's Sauvage Oeillet, but imagine it's worth a sniff too?

Calmanddance · 28/11/2018 21:55

MrsLucas, yes I love White Queen, after taking quite some time to get to know it. She is definitely a slippery customer as her notes keep wafting in and out, but I mostly get warm creamy incense.

Fennel, I have a sample somewhere of Oriza L Legrand Oeillet Louis XV. That is a spicy carnation as far as I can remember and I enjoyed it very much. It is part of a Legrand sample set and I have managed to mislay the whole set 😱. I will have another look tomorrow. L’Artisan have a perfume called Oeillet Sauvage, but I have no idea what it’s like.

CountFosco · 28/11/2018 22:04

In 4160 amber mambo. Love this. Gourmand fans might like this too..It's got a distinct whiff of cola cubes

I like how Sarah M does lemon, it's very much a lemon flavoured sweetie kind of lemon rather thxn the burst of juice citrus you get in AC fragrances. I believe MissB's DC described Amber Mambo as like lemon fudge which I think is a pretty accurate description.

SotD Close to my Heart. Probably a bit antisocial for work!

Lotsofpots · 28/11/2018 22:52

Randomly chose a sample at SOTD and got Mrs Gloss lemon sherbet. Feels like a not so sexy sexiest scent.
Nice and cheering though on a slightly shitty day where I parented badly and felt damp all day. Onwards and upwards. Tomorrow is my crappiest bit of the week, where I have to cart a 3yo and 4mo on the underground, in rush hour, to the other side of London. While I'm currently craving comfort fragrances, this trip always calls for something powerful - I don't think I own the right fragrance. Might be one for a tester trip.

SOTD is Brocade Tenderness, a pretty sweet pea soliflore, totally inappropriate for today's wild and windy November wetness but very enjoyable in its way. Plus, cheap as chips!

I have a long and tedious day ahead so probably should've worn something fiercer but, hey ho. Hopefully it will keep me sweetness and light when I feel alternately murderous and bored rigid Grin
