Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

@MrsLucas just a modelling shoot Smile fairly standard! It was just a little bit cold though (to say the least). I did my own makeup, photographer made the headdress and flowers

SheHasNotions · 25/11/2018 15:04

You look completely fabulous, Ollivander!

I’ve been standing on a freezing pitch side cheering on DDs football team this morning. No SOTD, but used the BodyShop smokey rose body lotion this morning which has left a lingering Black Opium-ish scent.

Only just got home and looking forward to roast chicken, Wine, a bath and Samsara later on Grin.

CountFosco · 25/11/2018 15:28

SotD You or Someone Like You. Minty fresh initially although the mintiness doesn't last as long as it does in Herba Fresca. Then lots of greenery. Think I'll need to wear Herba Fresca tomorrow to compare.

MrsLucas · 25/11/2018 23:07

Back experimenting with the vintage Missoni. Interesting aesthetic - not of this time, but not clearly of an earlier era either. It also balances along a mossy/animalic tightrope. Not what I was expecting - it is taking a bit of getting to know.

UnnecessaryFennel · 26/11/2018 08:47

SOTD is Penhaligon's Artemisia.

The Missoni sounds interesting MrsL. Is that the one that Luca Loves? I've always fancied a Missoni sweater.

What's the Artemisia like, Fennel?

SOTD Love, Chloe.
Clean, powdery, soapy iris and a creamy heliotrope note which I love. Very versatile.

Funnily enough I would call it powdery and soapy, so you may well like it, notions! However there is a slight musky amber/vanilla (as in body musk, not laundry musk) in the drydown which stops it from being too 'clean'. It's not unusual enough to be a love, but it's a definite like.

@XingMing Thanks. That's really interesting. I agree with what you say about Gallivant. Each is distinct and none smell generic. I like how the names are really suggestive and make you think of the place even if you try not to!

SheHasNotions · 26/11/2018 16:23

Sounds like I might just like it, Fennel. Wasn’t on my radar at all so will try to have a sniff.

Judy, your advent samples are on their way [santa]

MrsLucas · 26/11/2018 18:53

It is Fennel; lucky find. The geranium/aldehydes opening is quite fierce by today's standard, but it shimmies off again quickly, and the moss/musk balancing act is v interesting.

XingMing · 26/11/2018 19:25

Still on the Gallivant sample set... Yesterday was Brooklyn, which is as it says a fizzy lemon-lime sherbet. I will give it another go in spring because it could be fab in warm weather, but not in sub-zero degrees.

I don't dislike any of the six, but I have enjoyed Berlin and Istanbul most (Berlin is cool and woodsy; Istanbul is hot spice and amber. Tel Aviv is a bit of a surprise like, and I wish I'd had it a couple of weeks ago to trial on holiday. I think it would be wonderful in tropical humidity. For me, it's a genuine rarity -- a white floral that isn't cloyingly sweet.

UnnecessaryFennel · 26/11/2018 19:53

Evening comes and it's time for 5 o'clock au gingembre. And a glass of wine.

SOTD is Dark Heart of Old Havana. Not worn this for quite a while and it came up very sweet on me this morning, much sweeter than I remembered.

Perfumista Advent Calendar participants, it's nearly time! Just a final nudge to get posting for anyone like me who still needs to send their packages. Any questions or problems - do PM me.

Perfectpanda11 · 27/11/2018 09:15

SOTD is 4160Tuesdays Captured by Candlelight, which is very comforting for a quiet day working from home.

It's wet, wet, wet and very windy today.

Do any of you bargain hunters have knowledge of a less spendy source of Mitsouko? My mum needs some. TIA.

SoTD is London, which I feel convinced I should like, but it missed a bit on first try, so giving it another go.

CountFosco · 27/11/2018 12:29

SotD yesterday was Herba Fresca. It's a much zingier mintiness than You or Someone Like You and has a sweeter drydown. YoSLY has a bitterness in the drydown that made me keep sniffing.

SotD today is PG16.1 Bois Naufragé. This is gorgeous and might be added to the top of my Christmas list. Suits the day though, it's cold but sunny today and I want something fresh. When it rains I want something darker.

I haven't mrsr8 and Mitsy's not something I wear because it's been my mum's for so many years. Has anyone tried it? How good is it? Some are better than the original, but is this one?
