Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

MrsR8 - I was going to recommend vintage Chantilly but you need to swerve leather? Not sure who else mentioned it recently, but the Houbigant version is fabulous.

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/11/2018 09:46

SOTD is MMM By the Fireplace.

Babylon Sunset is one of the few 4160 fruity florals that I can wear and I agree it's a very well-blended perfume. It's too perky for this weather though Grin

TKN, though, nope. Nope nopey nope. Great name but it's just Refreshers on me.

I adore Ormonde Jayne perfumes & got stuck in for their Black Friday offer - the solid perfume is massively discounted as well! I think it was £120 before. If you like roses & sandalwood, you would like my favourite Ta'if - gorgeous - nothing like the old biddy loo freshner version of rose!! And I tried Rose Gold in their boutique but it's a bit out of my price range - they are super generous with samples so I ask for one each time I visit, which tides me over. And I just ordered the Tsarina candle - that's really gorgeous!

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/11/2018 10:31

My eBay Heure Exquise has arrived. It's so lovely. Shame I'm covered in By the Fireplace right now, but I think I'll go to bed in Heure Exquise.

Habanita L'esprit for me today: soft cinnamon, little bit smokey, but bright, not heavy

Tamasin I also thought the Ormonde Jayne solid perfume deal was brilliant. I do enjoy Taif but don’t pick up any Sandalwood in it sadly. I have several White Gold samples from a impossibly handsome n charming sales guy in one of the London stores that I am currently eking out.
Miss battleaxe I think I am highly suggestible.
I love the idea of combining the two Rose & Sandalwood perfumes from Le Jardin Retrouvé.
The only thing I can smell at the moment is La Fille de Berlin strangely. I tried Private collection and all I could smell was cheap harsh soap from a municipal toilet - yuck!
Might try Wrappings later to see whether it’s pungency works as a head clearer.

Ha, I don't think you're the only one, teta - how would this thread keep going otherwise? Grin Grin

SotD #1 Or Noir and #2 Z-14. Both the best kind of exhilarating fresh spicy. Z-14 has a citrussy/basil opening, then this gets taken over by cinnamon, moss and leather. Or Noir smells of deep green herbs and moss.

SheHasNotions · 24/11/2018 16:03

Judy I received my lovely advent package from you today. You are so sweet! Thank you! You motivated me to get off my arse and I have finally wrapped yours for posting first thing Monday Grin.

SOTD was a sample of Trussardi My Name, which I got because it is supposed to have a prominent heliotrope note. Nice enough, but too gentle for my tastes.

XingMing · 24/11/2018 17:50

Today's test from the Gallivant selection is Berlin. I like it but sadly forgot to sniff at intervals as I was rushing around getting groceries and it's worn off but its shade is subtly gorgeous so it will get another, proper whirl, maybe tomorrow, or will that be Brooklyn?

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/11/2018 18:00

The Gallivant scents are sounding good Xing; might need to give that set a go...

SOTE ET Diamonds & Rubies. Forgot how much I like this.

Fantastiqueangel · 24/11/2018 19:36

Smelled a Bottega General the other day, which I liked a lot. Will have to check which one it was.

Fantastiqueangel · 24/11/2018 19:40

Veneta, not general!

So far, the Gallivant set has not reminded me of anything, nor struck me as a clone, and in this day and age, after several years down the rabbit hole of niche perfumery, that's quite an achievement. Obviously some are more to my taste than others, but my first reaction is that they are not trying to shift juice by the tanker and that there's a serious grown up in charge, considering what they make. So far, I think their scents are more accessible or mainstream than Zoologist (I like some, especially Elephant), more interesting than Floral Street or Rook, and less scattershot than 4160 Tuesdays. All are making quality perfumes but IMVHO, Gallivant's sample set is worth £25.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/11/2018 20:56

SOTD is the Bella Freud freebie. I like this very much.

Pleased it arrived safely, shehas.

Ollivander84 · 25/11/2018 00:52

SOTD - gypsy water
It felt appropriate for what I was wearing today (see photo!)

Gosh, ollivander - is that you? What a stunning photo!

SOTD is Heure Exquise. Cold green iris with galbanum softening into a powdery rose; quiet, melancholy, serene and very grown up. Just a beautiful bit of perfumery.

@UnnecessaryFennel yes Smile I do some work as a plus size model

MrsLucas · 25/11/2018 13:15

Ollivander - you look absolutely stunning. That floral head dress is just amazing on you and that palette of colours against the trees and the autumn mist is exquisite.

Was this a big special day for you, or a modelling assignment?
