Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Calm I love Archives 69, one of my favourites from my Bloom subscription.

MrsL sorry I've not responded yet, you need my address don't you!

Spent the weekend putting up shelves in the playroom. Looks fabulous now but slightly horrified at quite how many kids books we have!

I passed my test first time (I am excellent at passing exams), DH on the other hand took 5 attempts.

SOTD is 5 o'clock au Gingembre, for a miserable wet and windy commute. Am going in to teach my senior students but I bet hardly any of them turn up Hmm

SotD - Pavillon Rouge, Joyvoy. Boozy, low-key spicy, (modern) wood and leather. Very good for a wet November morning.

A quick advent calendar question: would anyone else like to come in on the calendar, before we lock down arrangements?

teta · 20/11/2018 10:24

Tobacco Rose today for a sore scratchy throat, cough and cold. I can’t smell it but just know it’s there. Went to bed in La fille de Berlin as I find it extraordinarily comforting in cold weather. Have similarly afflicted children off school to look after and several eBay parcels to post.
Lotsofpots will message you today regarding the advent samples.

4160 Tuesdays Extra Sexiest Scent is half price this week. Ordered!

FloofyCatHasVeryFoldableEars · 20/11/2018 11:02

Also have afflicted DC here again today (and i have a very bad leg, I can confirm being on crutches and bowls of sick are not a good combination ) So wolves when I can leave the house again Smile I will get your parcel in the post :)

I have cocked up SOTD I should have gone for something clean like Zoflora Grin but wearing Black Opium Floral Shock. What do people think of this? (Apologies if already discussed and I've forgotten!) I bought a sample for DD's advent calendar as she loves Black Opium, which is revolting on my skin. However when I gave it a quick spritz I liked it and foolishly wore it today. Too strong. Opening is lighter than the B Opium but the drydown is just the same, IMO?

Count you can never have too many booksSmile

Wellfuckme let us know what you think! If you like the violets, the Perfume Parlour actually do one called Parma Violet, and it literally is. I just need a Cherry Lips perfume and I will be happy Grin Actually I don't have a good cherry perfume, the sadly discontinued Gloria is the closest I've found. MG Cherry is too "fizzy". I tried an Escada one whose name escapes me but no good. If anyone has any recommendations? I have a cherry essential oil for my diffuser and I want to smell like that, basically!

Hope the plague leaves all afflicted people soon!

Thank you so much mrs8 - I can't wait 😘

catsnoozing · 20/11/2018 15:48

Hello, I'm new to this topic, stumbled across it recently. Have just spent far too much time browsing people's comments.

Can anyone recommend an eau de toilette? I'm near finishing my autumn / winter daytime favourite, l'Occitane's Ambre & Santal and gutted that it's not made any more.

I think the notes I liked best were the woody - sandalwood and cedar and I think I just got the vanilla (looked it up on fragrantica.com). Has anyone any ideas?

I'm wondering if I should look at men's aftershaves.

My evening favourite is l'Instant de Guerlain which is much richer, if you see what I mean. I associate it with wood fires & a glass of good red wine. Interesting how a smell takes you straight to the place!

Well, thank you! I have been looking up these up on fragrantica and am intrigued. I very much like the look of the 4160 Tuesdays website.

It's going on my Christmas list. Rather excited.

Lotsofpots · 20/11/2018 17:18

4160 is a rabbit hole cat be warned...

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 20/11/2018 19:38

I've been alternating between PP Private Collection and Wrappings for a few days. Both are wonderful. Probably prefer Wrappings at a push but am enjoying both.

Jennifer11 · 20/11/2018 19:47

Fifty two and a (bit) fat. What can I wear with new Doc Marten Pascal boots? Was thinking thick tights and dress cos that's my usual with boots but don't want to look like I'm trying to be 20. What do you think?

Jennifer11 · 20/11/2018 19:52

Oops wrong thread - have started my own - as you were! Smile

MrsLucas · 20/11/2018 20:04

No worries Jennifer, but, since you dropped by, just to mention they would be great juxtaposed with a strong, feminine classic; how about Fracas or Habanita? Smile
