Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Wellfuckme two of my favourites! In fact my SOTD has been UltraViolet for about the last week. Second the Insolence suggestion. Hypnotic is the almondy one I think?Have you tried Mandorlo Di Sicilia by Acqua Di Parma? This is gorgeous and almondy so if you like Hypnotic you may like this. Or Kenzo Amour? You will get lots of suggestions here I am sure, hide your bank card now Grin

Hello sock! Smile

No SOTD yet as I am waiting eagerly for my new samples to arrive (sure fire way of guaranteeing they won't come today!) I too am on an spending embargo until Christmas, I have just realised how close it actually is I need to step up my eBay selling not buying!

MrsLucas · 19/11/2018 08:40

Hi Count - have pm'd you about the calendar.

SotD is Si Le Parfum. One of the nicest things to be found on the high street? Sweet, spicy/fruity rich amber.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 19/11/2018 08:45

Thank you ladies! I like the sound of lots of those suggestions! Are they readily found in boots or the fragrance shop etc?? Or can you get samples online? Xx

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/11/2018 08:56

SOTD is Naomi Goodsir Bois d'ascese. This is always a huge smokebomb at first and not an easy wear but since I'm working from home today I can let it settle and enjoy the dry-down.

It smells exactly like a bonfire atm - fans of the Mastenbroek we tried earlier this year might enjoy it. Although I'm happy to say there is no pervading scent of burning frankfurters here Grin

@Xingming- I have tried all the Gallivants and I love them. Each one has its own character and smells quite distinct from the others. They don't smell all mainstream like a lot of stuff and the city names are so evocative.

London is roses and leather and cucumber- and really works. Funnily enough, my favourite was Tel Aviv. I never thought I would love a fragrance called Tel Aviv, but I do.

MissBattleaxe · 19/11/2018 10:33

if you want something that smells like Hypnotic Poison, believe it or not, Library of Fragrance Play Doh is a dead ringer. You can buy Library of Fragrance in the UK again now too.

Ollivander84 · 19/11/2018 10:42

SOTD is smiley again, quite enjoying it for a change from my usual stuff

STOP PRESS Shock

Did anyone know the Perfume Parlour now sell car diffusers (ironic given recent discussions here Grin), and beard oil?!

This will not help my spending embargo Wink

FloofyCatHasVeryFoldableEars · 19/11/2018 12:18

Ahem. Clearly the beard oil is for DH, perhaps I should have made that clear Blush

Thanks Battleaxe. I am looking forward to the post now, especially as you have liked them all, and our tastes have often been similar. They sound a bit out of the ordinary so my hopes are high.

SOTD is Santal Carmin, from the Atelier samples that a kind person here sent, but only just dabbed. Sandalwood, limette and safron are the notes mentioned, and at first sniff, it's right up my street. It seems warm, for a chilly day.

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/11/2018 13:44

Bois d'ascese has dried down beautifully. After the initial smokebomb it goes through a slightly medicinal, Germolene-y phase and is now a delicious combination of incense, whiskey, smoke and old books. Such clever, clever fragrances; I love them.

Thank you unnecessary fennel! Problem was in phone app - had to go to browser to find the message option 👍

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 19/11/2018 15:07

@miss battleaxe really?! Will have to order a sample! Xx

teta · 19/11/2018 15:13

Eau de private collection vintage today. I get loads of green oily oakmoss that’s just stunning. I also recognise this from the past. Why did I miss out on this for so long?

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/11/2018 15:45

Oh god I really, really want some Private Collection. It was one of the first perfumes I ever sniffed - my dad brought mum back some from a work trip (so probably early 80s) and I used to sneak some now and again.

I loved that cream-and-blue box and the beautiful cursive script...

I might ask him to get me some for Christmas; I think he'd quite like that.

SOTD L'Air de Rien, and my advent parcel is in the post.

Calmanddance · 19/11/2018 20:27

SOTD was from a sample, Etat Libre d’Orange Archives 69. This is an enjoyable wispy incense with camphor and pink pepper with lots going on besides. It is very beautiful but only lasts 2/3 hours.

MrsLucas · 19/11/2018 22:02

Just back from London, and I think my latest ebay find is stuck next door for the night with the neighbours, as DTeen wouldn't answer the door to the Postwoman ...grrrrr.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 19/11/2018 22:06

I’ve ordered a sample of the Guerlain insolence, can’t wait to try it!
