Morning all! Come and join the gorgeously-scented chat!

Today I smell of lavender, woodsmoke and cinnamon biscuits, in Another Kiss By The Fireside.

Aw MrsLucas I hadn't even finished reversing out of the test centre bay I was parked in before I failed! Just before the test my instructor said 'remember it's a hard right when you reverse out', and that 'hard right' was all I did- I hadn't bloody reversed yet! Tried to continue but I just couldn't keep it together. Cancellation not likely as I have no annual leave left. Timing sucks but can't be helped, tbh I don't think I was quite ready anyway.

Contemplating the half price Extra Sexiest Scent to cheer myself up, but after spending £600 on driving lessons this month I'm not sure I can justify it!

auberginesrus · 16/11/2018 20:50

I also failed my first test before I left the centre! And then passed 2nd time as all the best people do Grin

FannyBurney · 16/11/2018 22:28

I failed twice!

It's my birthday this week- hmm but I already bought a 9ml New York 1955 this week and have just done a big Beautypie order of stuff I don't really need. Hmm

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/11/2018 23:02

SOTD was Byredo Gypsy Water. Now in the red Bella Freud, which really reminds me of a perfume by Carolina Herrera I wore in the late 90s at uni. White box with black polka dots.

I have never even sat a driving test. I had about eleventy billion lessons, and was so spectacularly shit I stopped before I was bankrupt. Since I was a student I have always lived within reasonable walking distance of the city centre, so the only time I ever think it would be useful is for the supermarket. The Sainsbury’s delivery man is our friend. DP grew up in the city, then went to uni in Edinburgh which is a very walkable place, and has never had a single lesson.

Lotsofpots · 16/11/2018 23:03

I failed because I speeded (not dangerously, but enough to fail) ffs. Never bothered retaking as I bloody hated driving.

SheHasNotions · 16/11/2018 23:40

I almost caused a pile up at a huge roundabout on my first test and was failed for dangerous driving Shock.

Second time I failed on my pathetic manoeuvres.

Third time was lucky. And I mean lucky. It was school finishing time and the traffic was so horrendous I drove around about 6 residential streets and didn’t fuck it up, so the examiner reluctantly passed me 😆

You’ll get there!

Dlpdep · 16/11/2018 23:45

I got Chanel Gabrielle as a present. Smells nice for 10 mins and then it’s gone!

MrsLucas · 16/11/2018 23:47

I think we have something else for the Perfumista Venn diagram Grin.

cantbelievemyeyes · 17/11/2018 09:30

I do appreciate these driving test disaster stories! Who would be a driving test examiner eh? Feeling a little better this morning, and appreciating a weekend with no driving lesson to ruin my mood Grin

Not much planned at all actually, but as DH is so desperate to cheer me up a trip to London for a good old sniff in Liberty might be just the thing.

How frustrating for you eyes! The test these days is a different beast with the theory etc. I passed mine first time Halo but am no longer allowed a licence (uncontrolled epilepsy not drink driving or speeding or anything!) so put me in the Venn GrinI actually think people who don't pass first time are safer drivers as they have learnt a harder lesson before being turned loose and are more careful, tbh. If I ever meet the medical threshold for applying for my licence back I will have to do a new (modern!) test which is striking terror into my heart, tbh! At least I can rely on sympathy on this thread Grinand it's unlikely atm anyway.

In good news, mindful of the last "free perfume with magazine" debacle (was it Harper's?) where we visited every shop within 20 miles and couldn't find one and I had a tantrum lovely DH went on the quest first thing so I have the BF perfume! Of course after all that I don't like it Grin but it will go in DD's stocking. On me for some reason it smells like the cleaner in the toilets of the cross channel ferries from years ago, shame as I also love Bella, and very jealous of your jumpers judy!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday, I am watching the lovely Michel Roux Jr on Saturday Kitchen with a very heavy warm cat on my feet, so I'm not moving Grin

MrsLucas · 17/11/2018 10:19

The note in An Excess sound fab (they had me at civet and labdanum). I have some Old Sport (also made for the UCL Great Gatsby event) which is good. Do let us know if you get some!

No spending for me either until after a Christmas at the very earliest. I have asked DH for a back-up bottle of YSL Manifesto L’Elixir for Christmas, but I now desperately want a full bottle of the Fior go Panna I mentioned and Villoresi Teint de Beige. It’s a never ending rabbit hole of longing! Grin.

SheHasNotions · 17/11/2018 16:54

Fior Di Panna

SheHasNotions · 17/11/2018 16:55

Teint de Neige

Autocorrect grrrrr

FannyBurney · 17/11/2018 16:58

Notions I love manifesto L'Elixir too, and I'm dying to try the fior Di panna

Fantastiqueangel · 17/11/2018 17:04

Sotd is Bulgari Jasmine Noir, which I am enjoying more than I normally do actually.

Fantastiqueangel · 17/11/2018 17:09

Actually it's Mon Jasmin Noir L'eau Esquise!
