WWW's six week 10yy boot camp, WEEK SIX June 2007

WideWebWitch · 18/06/2007 07:29

This is week SIX of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I am coming in here for a kick up the backside and to get back on track again. I dont know what has happened but stress ahs driven me to food this week and its not good.

The bin men came today and took away the evidence but I need to get back on my health kick immediately.

Marina · 21/06/2007 10:34

Ooh, some top tips here re body brushing and foot grating, thanks ladies - it sounds good.

Glad your review went well simplysparkling, but agree 1hr 50 mins is way too long. Ours take 1hr tops. I wish I could show my fusspot refuseniks this thread, then they'd realise that compared with the wider world, Marina does a mean Perf Review
Sounds like you got all the vital things on the induction programme sorted yesterday MI - find the chocolate, and get a login. Way to go!
Am still doggedly walking but have lapsed into some comfort eating due to exhaustion. Gotta stop that now.
Have a good day, all!

Marina · 21/06/2007 10:35

Glitterfairy, get in a small circle. I will kick your backside and you can kick mine. WWW can join too when she turns up if she wants

feetheart · 21/06/2007 11:30

Think we may need to make that a bigger circle Marina. After the sugarfest of Father's Day I have had a BAD week food-wise - the usual high/low sugar thing has carried on and its only now that I am trying to get a grip on it - hence sitting here with big bottle of water and a pot of seeds! I was doing SO well too.

At least the walking has been OK as the weather has allowed us to get to and from pre-school reasonably dry and that's 8000 steps. Only doing one run today (have to take the car on Thursday mornings as would never make it to Tumble Tots otherwise!) so have been making lots of journeys up and down stairs to up the step count - DS thinks I'm mad!!

However I am now the proud owner of a hula hoop and intend to do some each day in an attempt to re-discover my waist

bundle · 21/06/2007 12:42

have grated and flexitoled feet

hair dried in scary edwards scissorhands manner because went to bed with it wet (have it in scrunchie bun thing)

have started wearing Eyecatching Beads, in effort to draw attention away from Fat Arse. seems to be working so far (3 nice comments, one email - all from female colleagues natch)

plenty of Protect & Perfect this morning and light dusting of face powder. red lippy

Marina · 21/06/2007 13:07

This shows up as "have grated and flexitoled feet hair" on Active Convos bundy - like the idea of beads too

bundle · 21/06/2007 13:20

lol @ flexitol in hair maybe there's an untapped use there..

tortoiseSHELL · 21/06/2007 13:24

Well....some of those MN vibes may have worked - children actually slept all night! Ds2 did NOT wake up in the evening screaming (and I noticed a molar had popped through - d'oh!!!), dd and ds1 both asleep by 9.30 which is an improvement on 11! And no-one awake before 7.00.

And what's more, dh actually said, for the first time in our marriage, and certainly since kids 'You need a break - you look really tired. It's so hard for you with the kids, and although I work hard at work, it is a break from the children.' Couldn't believe it!

Marina · 21/06/2007 13:25

Well get on that train and party on down while the concept is still fresh in his little man mind tortoiseshell! So glad you had an uninterrupted night for a change

tortoiseSHELL · 21/06/2007 13:30

lol marina! Actually, he also said 'And you're missing out on your London trip aren't you.'!

I thought that as well batters!!!

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2007 18:42

TERRIBLE day as
toast x 2
then meeting out of the office where they plied us with mini danish pastries and I ate two
THEN lunch where I had a spring roll thing
followed by cold salmon salad with new potatoes and dill dressing (NOT low fat I'll warrant)
THEN strawberry cheesecake
2 glasses of wine, I wanted to sleep all afternoon
and have just come in and had a bowl of puy lentils with garlic, chillis, olive oil and a bit of Boursin. Twas yummy
but won't drink tonight, dh is going to see his parents so I'm home alone with the children

Batters, you're right, I DO like walking and I've stopped because I cannot bear to walk in the sun, which has precluded lunchhours for a while and there just isn't timoe in the mornings since I leave the house at 7.30am but I really ought to make myself go when the children are in bed at 7.30-8 since it's still light but has cooled down by then.

My boss has been making me laugh about Slimming World, she's just started going and apparently she won the weekly raffle last week. The prize was something you hold and it tells you how fat you are and and she is 41% fat. This week she has to contribute a prize to the raffle so she is taking anti cellulite cream although she did ask them 'does it have to be something to do with being fat?'

Well done everyone, winnie, esp for keeping up with this. I may ask the cleaner if she can stay another hour so I can walk tomorrow maybe.

www - I wish I'd had your lunch. I had a cheese sandwich. It was boring in the extreme.

tSHELL - hurrah for a full nights sleep.

Thanks for foot grating tips - I do have a grater but I always use it after a bath. Now I know better. I shall do it tomorrow evening (just feet, not feet hair ) as I will be doing a long run in the morning in super-smelly trainers.

Is MI hiding?

WideWebWitch · 22/06/2007 09:01

MI, was it first day with glossy colleagues yesterday? A whole cupboard full of gorgeous things sounds very SATC!

Had a reasonably early night with no wine last night but toast with butter and soft boiled egg with the children this morning. It's a lovely (for me) drizzly day, exactly my type of walknig weather so maybe I will manage it later.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 22/06/2007 09:02

And I am going to get stern and tough again with myself over the next six weeks. It's HALF WAY THROUGH the year, omg, and I need to be where I want to be by the end of the year.

OP posts:
Marina · 22/06/2007 09:13

I had no idea you were such a sun-hater www I can see why the recent weather has been such a PITA for you on the walking front
I too am a tin-can bouncing along the road behind the boot-camp wagon - can you me and batters make a date to personal shop near Xmas and then I will have a compelling fun reason to stay on the straight and narrow, as opposed to just wanting to put one over on bridezilla SIL which is mean of me really...

glitterfairy · 22/06/2007 09:19

Marina get in the circle and kick away I am a mean kicker too.

Weighed myself this morning and am happy as I have only put on a couple of pounds which is better than I thought with my lack of exercise and my binge eating.

So today am going to have my hair cut and coloured and then off out this evening. I am going to ahvea juice for breakfast and then soup for lunch and fish for tea and feel virtuous as I boogie through the night.

I have been a red head for a long time so am going to change and go a caramel colour wiht blonde highlights I think.

TheDuchessOfNorks · 22/06/2007 10:05

www - agree about the weather. Running last week was such hard work. But I've just done 2 miles in the rain and it was lovely! That's my target 4 runs per week so I'm really pleased.

glitter - Enjoy your trip to the hairdressers. I STILL haven't booked mine.

I have drunk 1 litre of water already this morning. But haven't had anything to eat yet - toast and marmite now I think.

WideWebWitch · 22/06/2007 11:00

Hello everyone, lol at Batters party trick, me too, I say "I've got to go to bed NOW" and disappear.

I think we ought to all post our 'stakes' (as India and Neris call them) - i.e. the things that are motivating us - here.

Mine is that I have just been looking at some photos of me pre dd and I looked TEN times better than I do now. I feel sorry for dh, he met a reasonable looking woman and has ended up with a heifer.

Come on the rest of you, what will motivate you? Post it (if you want to, no coercion on this thread) and I'll copy and post it into every new thread for the next six weeks.

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfNorks · 22/06/2007 11:16

My motivation is partly how athletic I used to be and I yearn to be half as fit as I was 10 years ago.

And I have so many beautiful and favourite clothes that just don't fit anymore - most are only a size too small, so it's a realistic goal.

tortoiseSHELL · 22/06/2007 11:21

My motivation;

Going into clothes shops and picking half a dozen items off the shelf, and not being able to decide because they ALL look fantastic.

Being fit enough to run around all day with the children and outlast them, instead of collapsing on the sofa with a glass of wine at the end of the day!

tortoiseSHELL · 22/06/2007 11:21

[DuchessofNorks - Sunday is CHICKEN DAY, as long as it doesn't rain too much tomorrow, so we can finish the house off!]
