WideWebWitch · 18/06/2007 07:29

This is week SIX of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Oh well, maybe I really am meanie mummy then. We get our virtual interior design kicks from Sims at the moment - all of us except dd3 whose preoccupation is in getting her family to have a baby - "they spend all their time kissing mummy. why haven't they got a baby?"

So everyone has had a good day? Yippee!

I quite like the sound of Club Penguin. But DD is only 5 and not terribly computer literate. Also she's VERY mad and invents stuff rather than following instructions. Ah well, her time will come.

I have been very good at exercise today. I ran 2 miles this morning and felt so good that I ran another mile just before school pick-up. It was my fastest mile yet - a mere 7 minutes. In context, I've been running again for 2 months following a break of at least 10 years. 25 years ago I had a personal best time of 5min 10. If I can get close to 6 minutes I'll be delirious!

Oi, there are some much much more neglected children on here than mine, honest Miss, just look at all those other threads, go on, go on!

I have just cooked a supper (chorizo and pollack - it sounded nice, ffs, I love chorizo) which managed to be both calorific (usually I drain loads of fat off the chorizo) and nasty.

feetheart · 22/06/2007 22:19

Shame about dinner MI. Got a few nice chorizo recipes, including an oven risotto thingie with chorizo, chicken and prawns. Probably huge in calories but VERY yummy

I will not introduce DD(4) to Club Penguin - I have enough trouble with DS (19mths) insisting on Kneebouncers

My motivation for being on here is that I will be 45 when DD starts Reception in September (and 48 when DS starts) and I REFUSE to look it. Some of those mums will be at least 20 years younger than me - arrghh!!!

I've been lurking for who knows how many weeks. Came across these today and thought you'd like them...
distance between central London tube stations on foot
directions for walking to and from anywhere - like the tfl journey planner for walking

I have started doing most of this except for the sunscreen [shame]. Am up late because of a sleepover, but am hoping they crash soon!

Marina · 22/06/2007 23:15

Thank you yajorome - am pretty much matching those timings for my daily walk thank goodness

Duchess mega congratulations on the run. I am doing this to keep myself motivated. This week I ahve had a really bad headache all week and not felt well which has been my excuse to put on two pounds and generally loaf about. My trainer is coming this morning adn will kick me into touch like lightening I know.

For the first time in months I crashed spectacularly last night. Despite a lovely day and keeping to all bootcamp rules including 13000 steps following a major incident with dd I ate a 500ml tub of haagen-dazs... continue to feel dreadful and all of the benefits of two weeks off work are ruined

Marina · 23/06/2007 09:44

Broke off from Penguin Club to notice you weren't back, eh
On these sorts of occasions I find that two Beroccas and a superhuman will enable me somehow to give the impression I feel fab and am impervious to the Climate in the home. It gets 'em every time. Top tip - while Billy No Mates is fuming somewhere else in the house, have a joyful sounding game with the children. Hearty laughter and "glad to be aliveness" gives sulky stayathomes just what they don't want.
Winnie, I've had a crumbling wall with bits of masonry dropping out, rather than a crash, this week so sympathies with the ice-cream - but one tub of Haagen Daz is not going to undo your good work overall, so chalk it down and then stop flagellating yourself about it (easier said than done I do understand). Focus instead on some of the very positive remarks you've had from others, you deserve them so much XXX

Winnie it is one tub of ice cream and you have had two weeks of wonderful strength. Hard I know to feel that way but it is a blip pure and simple.

Sobernow LOL at hungovernow.

WideWebWitch · 23/06/2007 10:29

Winnie, don't worry about the ice cream, Nigella says something like "chalk it up and move on sister" - hmm. If it helps we demolished a tub of haagen daaz pralines and cream between us last night. And 2 PE pizzas. and garlic bread. AND wine.

Sobernow, lol @ hungovernow. Pissed playgroupers are always wild iirc

I am starting again in EARNEST from Monday so wotch out you lot, I will be SERIOUS.

And sobernow, I think you should go down the route of 'you're lucky I'm up and of course, if you're nice to me today then I'll be equally nice to you the next time you want to go out and get pissed'

I suspect today went downhill when I tested the chocolate ganache stuff going on the birthday cake (leftover cream: too rich for the kids, but bloody delish, is my verdict). DP has equipped us with copious pink cava to survive influx of children. Am inclined just to write this off as Lost Weekend - ah, but but BUT, did go swimming WITH MY NEW FLIPPER THINGS this morning. They massively increase the work your arms are doing: 20 lengths was a real workout for my triceps, hurrah. Then a very big woman bashed me on the nose and didn't stop to say sorry. Am I allowed to feel a certain glee that I - accidentally, truly - kicked her (not on the nose)on the way back?

glitterfairy · 23/06/2007 11:55

OOOh MI flipper things where did oyu get them. I love swimming but am really good (used ot swim for my county) so dont get at all puffed out no matter what I do even lengths of butterfly but the flipper things sound great.
