WideWebWitch · 18/06/2007 07:29

This is week SIX of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

iota, lol at "My body is not a temple - unless it's a crumbling ancient Greek one"
Do not give up think about how bad it would be if you weren't joining in with this thread

Also a size 16 is my goal

I hope the tooth isn't painful and you've got it sorted.

winnie · 20/06/2007 15:36

I purchased the Protect and Perfect but was rather peed off that the offer that was on yesterday has been changed not to include skincare I will report back. Now I need to order more stuff from Liz Earle. This thread is costing me a fortune

Marina · 20/06/2007 16:22

iota, some of us are more like ruined colossi of Rhodes, I promise - 16 sounds good to me, don't be discouraged
Winnie, you're right, it's not a cheap thread, I agree

iota · 20/06/2007 18:40

I'm crumbling

tortoiseSHELL · 20/06/2007 18:44

Having a bad beginning to the week - am totally shattered with none of my children sleeping, ds2 screeching at me constantly (it honestly sounds as if it will break my ear drums it is so loud), ds1 not getting to sleep till 11pm, dd still ill, whingey, clingy, tearful, ds2 waking anything between 1 and 5 times in a night. Usually just as I am dropping off to sleep. Night time visitations from any or all of the children. I need chocolate to get me through the day!

Anyhow, I found this which is quite funny, if you're into facebook. I like it, reminds me of being a student (although I stress I was not illustrious enough to be at Cambridge, it's more the mentality that resonates iyswim!).

WideWebWitch · 20/06/2007 18:58

pmsl at 'never underestimate the power of a leaflet' lolol, tossers!

Iota does NOT look like a crumbling building of any kind and does not look even a size 16

I still haven't done any exercise, oops.

2 pieces of toast, butter, Marmite
strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
a ham, mustard and cucumber roll
a chicken satay wrap (300cal)
Puy lentils with a little bit of feta, 2tsps olive oil, chillis, garlic, lemon juice
water but prob not as much as usual
sunscreen
and no wine, am going to bed in a minute as dd woke at FIVE AM, grrr.

Well done everyone, especially anyone who is doing any exercise

Sorry to hear of non sleeping children ts, much sympathy. Makes my 5am moaning look weedy!

nuff said

skin Ok

slept badly last night so will try for early night tonight

forgot sunscreen

foxinsocks · 20/06/2007 19:01

ooh I love chicken satay

that leaflet quote is one of the funniest things I've read in ages. I think they have it engraved on the underside of every officious councillor's desk in England. Sorry they are being such arses sobernow.

I am completely zonked out on antihistamines today. Am very surprised I've managed to string a sentence together.

Will do exercise tomorrow!

tortoiseSHELL · 20/06/2007 19:11

sobernow, sorry it wasn't as productive as you were hoping for - what a mad quote as well. I think I might have been tempted to roll up said leaflet and beat him around the head, saying 'no they can be VERY VERY powerful used in the right context'. for you.

Marina · 20/06/2007 19:12

I'm not crumbling so much as bulging...
Tortoiseshell, I am so sorry about the non-sleeping tribe, really. Ds is still an insomniac night wanderer at nearly 8, it's the pits isn't it

Marina · 20/06/2007 19:13

Actually you get an even better result with a leaflet printed on coated paper by rolling it up to pencil diameter and poking Councillors' eyes out with it
Leaflets, schmeaflets

tortoiseSHELL · 20/06/2007 19:13

www - 5am is the pits isn't it. The hours between 5 and 7 feel so long ime!

I thought I would get an early night last night - attempted to go to bed at 10, made it by 10.30, 10.40 ds1 leaped out of bed and woke up ds2 who then needed feeding back to sleep. . Think ds1 needs lock on his door and soundproofing!

I scored some P&P too

winnie · 20/06/2007 19:55

Liz Earle has been awarded an MBE

TheDuchessOfNorks · 20/06/2007 20:16

Winnie & glitter - good to get going again!

tSHELL - hope you get a decent night, we had all 3 DCs waking up and wandering about until about 10pm last night - which is annoying but didn't spoil my sleep. It's either belated spring fever or we need the Summer Holidays!

Leaflet quote but also at the inanities of 'management'.

Have done little exercise today because of visitors and work. Moron has only just clicked over the 10,000 mark. No sunscreen. Lots of water. And I've been slathering on a rather lovely jasmine & orange flower body cream most days for the past week or so.

Need to do something with my feet though - they are spending too much time in trainers (smelly), gardening shoes (dirty) or riding boots (smelly AND dirty). What can I do to make them smooth, radiant and fit to put in mule-type shoes?

prufrock · 20/06/2007 21:26

Feet - flexitol cream on overnight. Get a cheese grater type foot scrubber and grate off hard skin - crucially you must do this when feet are dry, before bath or creaming (I was taught this by an amzing thai pedicurist and it makes a huge difference to the amount of dead skin that comes off. And bodyshop do a lovely peppermint foot spray for refreshing feet if moving quickly from boots to mules

batters, boidy brushing is good if you think you can be bothered. It does only take 2 minutes, but needs to be added into morning routine, pre showering. It kind of wakes you up, and exfoliates skin, and just makes you feel tingly all over. Always brush towards the heart, starting at bottom. It shouldn't be expensive, mibe was about a fiver in bodyshop but i'm sure I've seen them in tescos

I'm still being good. Just eaten peppers stuffed with mushroom rice. And did pscho session with BFHPT last night, and 30 minutes in the gym this am.

SimplySparkling · 20/06/2007 21:49

I've just had 3 chunks of dark chocolate. It was Fairtrade, though! Ooops, and 3 jaffa cakes earlier. Apart from that I've eaten lots of fruit and veg today and I've managed to avoid having a glass of wine.

I agree with winnie that this thread can have an adverse affect (effect?) on your bank account but I think it is having a very positive affect (sp?) on my skin!

Boots have been doing an offer on the SPF 15 and 25 moisturiser that I had bought to use on my face and neck each morning. Now down to £3. They were buy 2 get 1 free, too. That P and P beauty serum is going down rather quickly. Perhaps I'm using too much but there is a biggish air bubble and I've only had it a week or so.

Marina I had my review today. The marking was as I expected (good) but it took 1 hour 50 mins (way too long) and was very waffly (lots of stuff spoken about as well as my work.) Oh, well. I get a bit cross that dh gets so much info and postivity out of his reviews. Every person, regardless of grade or part time/full time status should have an efficient, effective review every year, in my book.

motherinferior · 20/06/2007 21:49

Tonight my body is a temple.

Of Bacchus.

Today I saw a cupboard with freebie Protect and Survive (as Mrs Schadenfreude calls it) and an entire room full of sparkly shoes. I also, after prolonged haranguing, got IT to set me up with my own emaail. I am utterly exhausted. Have drunk cava and eaten chocoate covered hazelnuts, although DP resolutely ignored my requests for ice cream.

tigermoth · 21/06/2007 08:19

Things must be bad feetwise. My ds1 gave me a telling off this morning about the state of my feet. He recommended I grated off the hard skin every day, just as prufrock described. He has seen another mother do this at a friend's house when he was on a sleepover and questioned her closely about her beauty routine so he could pass on the info to me. DS has told me he won't massage my feet again until I have done something about them. Have to admit I had never even heard of feet grating.

Then, 10 minutes later, I open up this thread and more feet grating advice leaps out at me. Someone is trying to tell me something.

Sobernow, any good showing your manager other heritage type internet sites so he realises the potential? Or is he not very internet savvy, hence his dependence on leaflets?

When I choose venues for events, it really helps if there is a walkaround facility on the website. It can be really useful, especially when I am short of time and can't do lots of RL site visits before shortlisting. Is your place is hired out for events? If so, have you explained that a virtual tour on the web could generate more bookings?

Tigermoth, oh the joys of children

Batters, the Liz Earle MBE is posted on the website. Yes she does look great. Do you know how old she is?

I have realised that I constantly look tired. Even the therapist remarked on how tired I looked when I went for my facial last week and I have been trying to take a decent photo of me and every one (even when I think I look good in the mirror) shows me looking tired & frankly haggard I have horrible bags under my eyes. Mostly I go to bed relatively early (by 10.30) I have had a lot of disturbed sleep of late. As you all know I've been under a lot of stress. But what else can I do? In the last week or so I had black shadows under my eyes too but they seem to have gone in the last few days

Yesterday was a good day foodwise and I did 12000+ steps.

yoyo · 21/06/2007 09:39

Body brushing is excellent Batters - I do up towards the heart for lower body and downwards for upper body. My bum gets lots of vigorous circular movements! My bum has benefitted the most I think and my horrible scaly legs too. I do it dry and scale my feet at the same time gaining a perverse satisfaction in removing dead skin.

Bad, bad day yesterday as stuffed myself all day long and drank in the vening too. Will be going to the gym later to redress the balance.

Enormous sympathy to all of you who are being deprived of sleep. It is crap.
