That sounds awful shop
bernice, your outfit sounds fab!

Has anyone read the Stacey Dooley/slow shop threads? I haven’t watched it yet but it has made me think whether I should just give shopping a rest for a bit...

Although after saying that I did take delivery of a fabulous dress. Would have preferred in not black but I really love it. Might wear it out on Saturday night but also plan to wear with tights and boots. It’s the relaxed shape I love but with a belt to give me shape.

Blair I do have serious boot envy, sadly think they're Balenciaga so just a bit out of my price range! Glad you're getting better & ds jabs won't too bad. I remember poo-plosions, always at the worst possible time 🙈
Sad about Deciem, he obviously has something bad going down. On a selfish note, may stock up on a couple of TO products while they're still available. I do like the buffet & their foundation.

Going to watch Stacey now.
Good dress too QueenC can definitely picture you in it.

Cotton nooo, awful

I watched the Stacey Dooley doc - absolutely shocking. Whilst I do wear a lot of natural fibres incl cotton I did feel reasonably pleased that I don’t actually buy clothes in large quantities. I try much more now to replace as things wear out and to not buy into ‘fast fashion’. I don’t believe it makes the clothing any more ethics unfortunately, but at least my days of buying a top in every colour because the shape was good and they were cheap are over.

I see coast is the latest high street tragedy. As sad as it is I can’t say I’m surprised. Last time I went in was 5 years ago looking for a 40th dress. I could probably find the exact same thing now. Their styles didn’t really change.

The storm has hit us. It’s absolutely vile here and I will be dressing for the weather rather than style this morning!

I think I’ll keep Eres green. Have always wanted done by them and love the bottle green.

Glove question

  • what are yours like? Is it worth getting shearling ultra warm ones

I’m finding it hard to remember what winter weather feels like

Just checking in.

Love the black dress queenc, think it will be a useful number. Hope the weather isn’t too horrific near you.

Hope you’re feeling better blair, there is nothing worse than being ill with a small baby. Glad miniblair didn’t get it. Shame about the stories dress as the pattern looked nice.

Shame about your order too marsha. Think that colour will suit you and being dark it won’t show up suncream stains, as guess as that price you want it to last more than one season!

Glad the new job is going well mara, I thought of you as I saw the recent exhibition / sale was happening in London. Hope it went well.

My new Boden lounge wear came last week, I’m pleased with it as its pretyy good quality (guess it should be as not overly cheap) and looks nice. I was wearing it when DH came home from work the other day and he just cracked up laughing and asked what I was wearing and how it looked like something Colleen Rooney would wear Hmm. I told him it was lounge wear Grin.

I have seen exerts of the Stacey Dooley docu on Facebook. It is shocking how much water cotton needs but what is the alternative as aren’t MMF bad for the environment too? I guess it’s trying to change peoples attitude towards fast fashion / disposable clothes (wear it twice then bin it). Like shop I have never really bought into fast fashion, and lots of my clothes I’ve had for years and now I only buy a couple of things each season or replace stuff that is worn out.

I wasn’t surprised about coast either queenc, they never really changed but other shops started encroaching into the bridal / bridesmaid space at a similar or only slightly more expensive price point and they didn’t seem to diversify sufficiently.

Not sure I can make the 1st dec MU as it’s the DCs school Xmas fair that day.

Has any body been watching the Royal Wedding? I like the neckline of eugenie’s dress but wasn’t sure about the fold at the back. Peter pilotto was a different choice.

I liked Beatrice’s outfit - even if it was a bit ‘kate’. Not sure about fergie’s.
Kate’s outfit was a nice colour. Cressida Bonas looked good in Tory Burch. Pippa M looked good in green. Wasn’t sure about Naomi Campbell’s. Liv Tyler’s skirt looked a bit too long.

Loved eugenies dress, probably more than Meghans wedding dress.

Loved Kate’s pink dress, would love to get a better look at Kate moss outfit.

Wtf was this blue jumpsuit and cap????

Agree, livs skirt too long. Loved the colour of beas dress. Meghan looked boring.

Poor lady Louisa

I loved Eugenie's dress too! Reminiscent of a medieval princess to me. She suited the more substantial fabric.

I keep meaning to say thanks Bernice for your lovely comment about DS name Smile

I am feeling fine now thanks Everyone, as is DS.

I haven't watched the Stacey programme but I don't feel like buying much atm anyway. A combination of my body not feeling right, high street clothes all seeming crap for the price, and more expensive quality things being impractical for me now (dry clean only for instance).

Love that bikini Marsha, gorgeous colour!

Hello everyone! I enjoyed watching the Royal Wedding yesterday while I "worked" from homeGrin. Eugenie looked beautiful and i am so glad that she came up trumps. Your wedding pictures are there forever, and i was concerned (weird given i don't know her!!) that she would get it horribly wrong. Beautiful dress and tiara.

I haven't seen the Stacy Dooley tv programme, although it resonates. I made the decision a few years ago to prefer to buy high end rather than high street, and that was more because i was worried if i stuck to the high street i would just buy, buy, buy. I don't think so much if i am buying a £15 dress or £150 dress but i think very hard about it if I am buying a £1,500 dress. I also recycle absolutely everything. It's a rare thing for any of my clothes to end up in the bin, as I am obsessive about their care whether it's something that cost me £15 from Primarni or £1500 from Amarni so they always look really good. All our old clothes either go to family, my friends, Cancer Research or to the families of the overseas school i support.

Having said all of that Grin I do have a few recent buys. I got measured recently and i have gone up a cup size and i hate ill fitting bras so i have been buying a whole load of new underwear Grin. And an F cup is an utter nightmare to get so it's not been a cheap exercise.

I also decided to get the Oasis top that Dry wore to the MU. It is difficult to convey to you all how baaaaad i looked in it! Dry looked stunning in it. I looked like i was a witch dressed for HalloweenGrin

Didn't watcht he royal wedding but saw a few pictures and i agree that Eugenie looked lovely, her dress was beautiful

Bought a few sale bits in Collectif today, I bought 4 items and the total cost for all four in the sale was less than the original retail for just ONE of the items so very pleased, I got a beach/palm tree print skirt, a flamingo print playsuit, an off shoulder pineapple print top and a shell print blue and white sun dress. They will be nice for the cruise round greece we are going on next year Grin

Thanks Blingy I think the high neck means it’s a style better suited to those of us with less in the boob dept.

All v interesting re fashion and the environment. It has really shocked me and I’ve learnt so much in the last week.

So, fed up with I’ll fitting skirts, I’ve bought some fabric and my machine is out. Made one yesterday. Wool and cashmere mix in a black berry purple. Just above the knee, slight a line with 2 patch pockets on the front with a button on each. Actually chuffed with it. Will wear with grey jumpers white shirt perhaps.

Today’s project is a beautiful tweed with teal, black, mustard running through it. Bit trickier.

Zac Posen did her evening dress

She looks incredible (bar the slightly strange boob shadows in the pic, might just be the photo)

I think she’s had a wedding that is as fairytale as it can be - top guests, top designers, looking fresh and natural.

Got to go now as need to get ready for church parade.

But I have a challenge. Find me a watch like this navy Cartier tank for less than £250 Grin. I think I must have spent most of yesterday googling navy and silver watches and tank lookalikes but haven’t seem to found anything. It’s for my birthday list.
