Holiday clothes

Going to Italy for a week in August.

I've got:
one playsuit
a pair of denim shorts
a black sundress
a red sundress
a denim midi skirt
a 'dressy' dress
t-shirts
a couple of boho-ish cotton blouses to wear with shorts or the denim skirt
What else do I need? Struggling to find any nice cotton dresses. Assume I'll need either another pair of shorts or another playsuit maybe?

I like that hat. I tried on a straw dirtvifnourk our hat and both children laughed like stains then said “no mummy!” So I’m taking my old Reiss fedora which doesn’t suit me and was expensive. 😩

I’m flying long haul on Saturday. Packing for this is a turd.

Love the hat.

I have a teeny, tiny head and flat hair - wonder if it would be suitable for me - tho I worry about it being dark and the heat?

Where at you off to atalune? I'm going long haul next Easter and am in a quandary as we'll be travelling all over Australia and have to pack light (not in my vocabulary).

I also want a dirtvifnourk hat and am wondering how one laughs like a stain? 😂

HA! Missed the laughed like stains thing because I was too busy chuckling about hats.

I am now the proud owner of a bikini (M&S) and some Hush black cropped harems. So travel outfit =
harems
black vest top
either black cardigan or black Gap cropped zip up hoodie depending on the temperature early in the morning
white trainers
black and white feather print scarf or a leopard print scarf (will decide on day)

California! Big trip, lots of travelling around with some stops along the way with DH and our primary aged children.

Remus- your travel outfit sounds lush. Very coordinated. I am striving for polished, yet casual luxe. I’ll end up looking frazzled, gym geAr moron.

Believe me, I'm only ever coordinated because I pretty much wear black all the time! I'm a mess in real life - the sun has made my hair turn into a frazzled mess, even though it's only just been cut, and I look scruffy even if I've dressed up, put make up on etc.

Just put everything in my case to see if it fits, but may well take it all out again!
4 dresses - 1 smart, 3 casual but all 3 okay for day or evening
1 playsuit
2 pairs of shorts
2 pretty cotton tops with short sleeves
2 basic vest tops
1 prettier vest top
1 black t-shirt
1 kimono
1 bikini and 1 sarong

I've taken out: red dress / red cotton blouse / denim shirt / white cardigan / white t-shirt (because it makes me look even more top heavy than usual).

Decided against taking heeled sandals, so have flip flops, walking sandals and flat black sandals plus the trainers I'll be wearing to travel,

SO - critique the list, please! Does it sound like enough tops?

And WOW to California - sounds amazing!

Not read all, but just want to recommend taking a bottle of lavender oil (cheap in wilko) for bites. Just dab it on neat and it stops the itching, and smells nice! A friend recommended getting a cheap bottle if baby lotion, half emptying and top up with detol to keep bugs away, not tried but he swears by it.

Lavender oil a good idea. I've got this little set already.

I think for a week that’s plenty! And it sounds like you can mix and match what you have got. The only things missing might be any beads/necklaces etc that will change a simple day dress with flip flops into something a little more dressy for an evening meal?

I have on the other hand far far too much and I always do! I never learn. I might take out one dress and jumpsuit!

Will pack an arm full of silver bangles for evening!

This is the list of a crap packer who is doing city sightseeing, national parks, beaches, wine country. There is a lot to cram in! 😅

All sounds good! What's the weather forecast? Jeans and denim jacket sound 'heavy' compared to the rest.

We will be in San Fran for a bit and it can get cold there. We are going San Diego up to San Fran with stops along the way. For 3 weeks!

Late to add.... but I love the dresses in fat face atm, is worth checking length for your height but I find they are perfect for hot weather

I'm in the Italian lakes now. I have worn thin sleeveless t-shirts and v lightweight running shorts (not to run!). And 2 bikinis. Dresses and denim shorts still in suitcase. It is v hot and humid.
