CP Mary always looks elegant, but I'm not keen on that evening dress, the top bit looks like the design of a swimsuit. Princess Benedickte looks fantastic!! That dress is gorgeous on her! The greens and blues, and the movement. Very stylish.

Queen Margarethe is living her best life - a white dress and a French chateau complete with vineyard. What more could a queen want?

You just know that Daisy has the best time. She's the kind of person that could light up a room. When she was in Scotland she bought some of that pvc fabric people use for tablecloths and had a coat made out of it! (I'm trying to find the picture).

I think I've said it before, but Queen Margarethe is an incredibly talented woman. Studied at Oxford, Harvard and the Sorbonne, is such a good artist that she illustrated the Danish translation of Lord of the Rings and has regular exhibitions under a nom de plume, and has designed costumes for the Danish royal ballet. She puts other monarchs to shame!

I didn't know that about Margarethe, thank you QueenOfTheAndals. She always struck me as a very intelligent woman.

Margrethe always looks as if she has a lot of fun.

Her husband however, was no fun at all.

Yet nothing is as striking as this portrait of the entire Danish royal family from a few years ago. It looks like the cover of a Virginia Andrews book from the 80s!

That family portrait is insane. Cool.but insane! You can see that there is no.love lost between the Queen and her late husband. He was a piece of work; refusing to be buried with her.
In comparison the Queen of England has had it quite easy with "carriage driving" Prince Philip.

@VanillaSugar That's Marie, Prince Joachim's second wife and mother of his two youngest children. She bears more than a passing resemblance to CP Mary. In fact, put the two of them and Kate in a room together and you might struggle to tell who's who!

@CurlyWurlyTwirly For all his faults, the DoE has been nothing but supportive of the queen in public for 70 years. I'm sure he'd never take off in a tantrum and moan to the press!

That picture looks quite creepy!!!

They look like they have been superimposed in that portrait. I’m not a fan of sitting on chairs looking directly ahead ie most RF photos but the Dutch one looks even more staged. Why don’t they ever take them out in a garden just playing/having a coffee.....
