Beatrice and Eugenie will just have a Miss or Master as children like Zara & Peter, so they can call them anything they want.
There would be a weight of expectation on a future Princess Victoria, just because of the name, same as a Princess Diana.

I think Harry & Meghan’s kids will be Viscount / Lord / Lady like Sophie & Edward’s children. Unless Kate pops out one more, Louis is the last Prince of this current generation.

Clionba · 10/08/2018 15:07

Yes, but they may decide on Miss Victoria Brooksbank. That sounds nice! I agree that William and Harry will avoid Diana as a first name. Weight of expectation as you say.

WipsGlitter · 10/08/2018 15:13

Is Diana not one of charlottes middle names?

Clionba · 10/08/2018 15:21

Yes, they wouldn't use it as a first name.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 15:27

Yes it is @WipsGlitter. Earl Spencer's youngest daughter is also Charlotte Diana.

I find it a little odd that William gave the name Louis to both his sons, considering that he never even knew Mountbatten.

That struck me as odd. How could they run out of names? Surely they could find another one? The odds were on Albert and Arthur weren't they?

ajandjjmum · 10/08/2018 15:53

My private theory is that they'd decided on Albert - until someone pointed out the significance of a Prince Albert, and they quickly changed it to something less controversial - which is how Louis came to be used (again!). Grin

Clionba · 10/08/2018 16:13

I'd heard the Albert theory, too Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 16:44

To be fair, Louis is a nicer name than Albert. And they really should've gone with Arthur instead of George for their firstborn!

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 10/08/2018 16:46

But they didn't know at the time that their second son would be born on St. George's Day!

It's all personal taste when it comes to names.

Clionba · 10/08/2018 16:51

It's interesting that the three male Spencer cousins are George, Alexander and Louis!

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 16:54

@ajandjjmum I meant because he'd eventually be King Arthur!

OP posts:
Clionba · 10/08/2018 16:55

King Arthur would have been great!! I heard that Kate wanted Alexander.

ajandjjmum · 10/08/2018 17:15

Sorry ..... yes that would have been brilliant!

Inniu · 10/08/2018 17:20

If Charles becomes King do Harry’s children not get upgraded to princes/ princesses as male line grandchildren of a monarch unless Harry turns it down like Edward did for his kids.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 17:23

I've read various rumours over the years that Charles is going to reign as George VII. But I can't believe it's true - he's been a Prince for so long that it'll be hard enough to think of him as King Charles, let alone King George!

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 17:25

Speaking of names, who knew one of the Queen Mum's names was Angela?

VanillaSugar · 10/08/2018 17:29

King Charles III spaniel

Clionba · 10/08/2018 17:30

Yes, that's a nice name. Also Marguerite. I heard that about Charles and George VII, could be weird! In the Dimbleby biography it claims that Charles wanted to call their sons Arthur and Albert but was over ruled by Diana.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/08/2018 19:08

That would be weird Charles reigning as George VII, bearing in mind Prince George already exists.
Marguerite was apparently the name of the Queen Mother’s parent’s French cook. She was rumoured to be the mother of the QM and her youngest brother.
Edward V111 s nickname for her was therefore “cookie”

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 20:47

Oh yes, I've heard those rumours. Along with the ones about HM and her sister being conceived via artificial insemination as their father had problems getting it up!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 20:49

Oops no, it was apparently because the Queen Mum didn't like sex! Then again, it's Lady Colin Campbell - not the most reliable source!

I thought the artificial insemination was because of Bertie's health problems? Let's not doubt Lady CC!

Moononthehill28 · 10/08/2018 21:05

Like the QM would have gone around telling people she hadn’t conceived naturally? It is odd she only had two children though in the days before contraception.

Clionba · 10/08/2018 21:12

The evidence is from the doctor in a letter to a colleague. He wrote something about the QM being pregnant and the "procedure" was a success (words to that effect).
