Interesting article. I've thought for a longer time that QEII is turning into a duplicate of her grandmother Queen Mary. I don't think Eugenie looks like the queen mum though, it's just that photo!

I looked half way through the slide show and gave up! I think it’s the hats they both wear, too fussy, too fancy and too extreme.
They should take a leaf from Coco Chanel and before they leave the house remove an item! It’s all too fussy and sometimes ill fitting. I think they must buy what they like and then just wear it all at once whether it goes together or not.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/08/2018 11:09

Yes, I think accessories are where they fall down - their hats are always OTT and not in a good way. It looks like the clothes are wearing them rather than the other way around. Both York sisters wear more interesting shoes than Kate or Meghan though.

Eugenie looks like the Porchester girls ahem.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/08/2018 12:09

Porchy's granddaughter...

Watchingtheworldgoby · 09/08/2018 12:41

Oh she does!!!! That granddaughter is very distinctive looking isn’t she (in a nice way!). I’ve never heard of them. Unusual and quite ironic name for a member of the RF. It means ‘freedom’ in Ithe Irish language and a popular name amongst republicans.

NewUserNameTime · 09/08/2018 13:05

Thanks Queen for the link!

She does have a lot of good looks

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/08/2018 13:31

Porchy's 'house' served as Downton Abbey!

OP posts:
Paradyning · 09/08/2018 17:18

Porchy also served in other ways. Ahem.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/08/2018 18:43

There is a similarity between Eugenie and Lady “porchy”
Not as much as Beatrice and Queen Victoria.
I’m surprised Victoria has not been used in the royal family since Q.V. s granddaughters. Eugenie has it as a middle name.

I wonder if journalists and historians have the real truth about Elizabeth and Philip to be published after their deaths....

Watchingtheworldgoby · 09/08/2018 20:34

What’s the real truth? I’m intrigued. Do you mean Philip being a womaniser? I think that is already public knowledge?

VanillaSugar · 09/08/2018 21:04

Um..........Nope....... why do you think Andrew doesn't look like the others?

Laiste · 09/08/2018 21:32

Who's Andrew's father meant to be then?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/08/2018 22:32

Lord Porchester, the Queen’s racing manager.
here

Lord Plunkett is supposed to be Prince Edwards ( not so sure about that one.)

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/08/2018 22:39

Apparently Lord Plunkett was what they euphemistically used to call 'a confirmed bachelor'. As is Edward, according to some sources!

The Daily Mail article on Porchy claims he was 'a notorious womaniser who cuckolded half of Berkshire'. Now what famous residence is in Berkshire?

(Note: I don't actually believe QEII would be capable of this!)

OP posts:
Watchingtheworldgoby · 09/08/2018 23:04

I just don’t think the Queen would put herself/the RF reputation in that position.....

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/08/2018 23:16

Oh I agree. The only story about her that's even more implausible than Porchy/Plunky is the one about her and the DoE kidnapping a group of Canadian orphans!

I think Eugenie looks quite like Fergie's dad.

Clionba · 10/08/2018 07:54

Well this has taken a fascinating turn! Thanks folks for all the pics! I always wondered about Prince Andrew's looks, quite unique in that family. Eugenie definitely looks like him (and Lady S!). Beatrice really does look like a young Victoria. The name Victoria fell out of favour, because it was used so much in the family in the 19thC. It was Queen Mary's name. I wonder if it will come back?

Laiste · 10/08/2018 08:15

Gorilla Parker Bowles.

My inner child sniggered hard Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 08:39

@Clionba Yes, I think she was Victoria Mary but went for the latter as she could hardly call herself Queen Victoria! She was called May by her family anyway, much as the Duke of Windsor and George VI were David and Bertie.

Actually even Queen Victoria wasn't originally called Victoria - her first name was Alexandrina!

OP posts:
Clionba · 10/08/2018 09:06

Good point! However, her assuming the name ensured it's popularity for decades. Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood was also Victoria. I can't see Harry and Meghan using it, but possibly Eugenie or Beatrice.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 10/08/2018 13:28

Meghan appears to have gone to ground. I read online that Harry issued some sort of ultimatum to his friends that if they spoke to the press he would drop them as friends. Of course this might be rubbish but I hope she is ok.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/08/2018 14:12

I'm sure she's fine - may even be visiting her mum for all we know. All the royals tend to keep a low profile over the summer but we're bound to see more of her from next month. Also, maybe she's looking at which charities etc to support - IIRC Kate's patronages weren't announced til a few months after her wedding.

I think the Queen has decreed that MM is getting too much negative attention and the Press are acquiescing to some form of request from BP.
