I’ve re read that sentence a number of times and still can’t make sense of it Clionba

Do they mean

It is tough having a job?
It is tough having a day job ?
It is tough running an Istagram account?
It is tough being a princess?
It is tough trying to dress like a princess and working?
It is tough being photographed for Istagram?
Or something else entirely?

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 09:29

It's taken from an interview with them in Vogue. Couldn't access the Telegraph article about it but found this one:
www.theage.com.au/lifestyle/life-and-relationships/beatrice-and-eugenie-it-s-tough-being-a-princess-with-a-day-job-20180802-p4zv0x.html

Nowadays it is easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Istagram....we are real

Does she mean perfect images are not real but they are perfect and real. They should have had some coracjing prior to doing the interview. Overuse of the word ‘royal’ and ‘princesses’. It comes across as spoilt little rich girls which is a label that could be applied to everyone else in the RF too probably but they don’t give interviews highlighting it. They are going to use this wedding to up their media presence in any way they can. Fergie has also been interviewed defending some article criticizing them. It may be on her Istagram account.

I think they need to be careful. They're promoting Eugenie's wedding, plus charitable endeavours. But to claim that they have it tough is naive in the extreme. I read an interview with Eugenie in Bazaar (I think) and she came across as well meaning, but unbelievably entitled. I know there are York family fans on here, but I think these women (they're not girls) are treading a line.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/08/2018 10:02

In that extract, they come across as pathetic. Oh we had a little cry before before a garden party. Taking the shot for a lifetime of privilege is the price they pay. The married in Princesses; kate & meghan are much more professional and keep stummm. I would love to know what Beatrice's actual job is. They are as entitled as Princess Margaret was, with none of the chutzpah

Clionba · 02/08/2018 10:07

They clearly have no clue about the extent of their privilege. There's little self reflection or awareness there.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 11:23

Interesting that the report doesn't actually quote them as saying that. The new issue of Vogue is out tomorrow, so we'll be able to read the whole interview.

I think generally the York's are unbelievably entitled. He spends a fortune on travel and luxuries when he does actually nothing at all it appears. The girls have all the perks of having Royal connections but do nothing for the RF. Their mother is a waste of space. Sorry if I seem a bit over the top but I can't stand any of them.

Clionba · 02/08/2018 13:39

Both of them had a "gap year" to exotic climes, and their personal protection for the year was paid for by the taxpayer. I think that was the beginning of Andrew bring under pressure to fund them more himself, much to his chagrin.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 13:59

Their whole life seems to be one big gap year! Although Eugenie is apparently clever and did better than any of her cousins in her A-Levels.

The DM had a pic of them both actually looking good for once.

They both look glam.

delphguelph · 02/08/2018 14:30

Eugenie looks way better showing some cleavage - she just looks so matronly all the time with her high necks! Does the Firm have a policy on showing cleavage or something? I get that she's not gonna walk around with her boobs out but for god's sake, scoop neck and sleeves, Eug, scoop neck and sleeves!!

delphguelph · 02/08/2018 14:31

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6017489/Princess-Beatrice-Eugenie-bemoan-living-life-public-eye.html

Why??!!

Kate would look good in this. She's too bosomy.

Sorry to keep going on about it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 14:55

@delphguelph I can remember Trinny and Susannah, back in the day, saying that if you have a large bust then high necks are not a good look, and to go for a scoop or v-neck instead as that's far more flattering.

That sheer dress Beatrice is wearing is a shocker - the lining has ridden up and we're one short move away from seeing her crown jewel!

Watchingtheworldgoby · 02/08/2018 15:07

Beatrice is very pretty.

They come across badly, have done nothing of note, don’t work, live a privileged lifestyle and moan about their plight. Rather like William actually (apart from his part time RAF hours)

delphguelph · 02/08/2018 15:07

It's so true about the scoop necks.

That see through lacy number dress is indeed a shocker - where does she actually buy those disasters??? I think her stylist hates her, I really do.

delphguelph · 02/08/2018 15:08

The ARE both pretty!

Especially Eugenie, she has such a striking face.

Clionba · 02/08/2018 15:09

Eugenie didn't get her place at university, her grades were too low. Then they found out who she was and offered her a place. She's probably still more academic than most of the family, though!

lightonthewater · 02/08/2018 15:27

Eugenie and Beatrice do work. No one seems to know what they do though...
Also William stopped working some time ago when they moved to KP

Watchingtheworldgoby · 02/08/2018 15:45

William hosts visitors and does ummmm event type things. To be frank the majority of them do so little for such huge wealth, they are sitting ducks for criticism esp when they complain about the unfairnessof their hard lives. You see I don’t know anyone who is in the IT group of people who lunch, shop, holiday all year round, funded by parents so it is so hard for me to anything but irritated by them. Although an ex boyfriend of mine whose grandparents were wealthy used get an ‘allowance’. He still worked (half heartedly) though.

Laiste · 02/08/2018 21:23

I'm struggling to drum up any sympathy for them. Diamond shoes too tight and all that. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen - no? I have to say it seems to me that 'the public eye' is being courted quite enthusiastically right now.

I'm amazed Beatrice is nearly 30! I still imagine they're teens or early 20s. I guess that's a sign i'm getting old! Grin

I don't think they're particularly attractive. all teeth and eyes. I'll get my coat ...

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 21:44

They aren't striking like Kate or beautiful like Meghan but I wouldn't say they're unattractive.

OP posts:
evilharpy · 02/08/2018 22:16

I think Eugenie is very pretty but not necessarily that photogenic. Sometimes photos just don't seem to flatter her.

Clionba · 02/08/2018 22:24

I think the Yorks are promoting themselves while they can. Charles wants a slimmed down monarchy so I doubt he'll be inviting them to much.
