I think the work at BP is essential as the place is falling apart! Princess Anne was nearly hit by a falling piece of masonry not so long ago - I'm sure she won't be the only one, just the most notable! Makes sense for Charles to have his input at this time, I suppose.

theladylovescupcakes · 31/07/2018 18:55

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual what an interesting article, thanks for sharing. Shivers up my back now!

mathanxiety · 01/08/2018 03:33

Maybe Charles fears the money for renovations will be harder to justify once HMQ pops her clogs and he moves in.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/08/2018 07:09

Hadn't looked at it that way. He will be under a huge amount of scrutiny once he becomes king. Poor bloke. It may have been an excellent bit of pr, but he was so lovely to Doria at Meghan's wedding and the world saw a different side to him. It would be such a shock to the psyche once the Queen goes, even if it is expected that it will take all of his emotional intelligence skills to calm the nation.
Remember the Queen's speech when Diana died?

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/08/2018 07:15

Blimey, someone's pinched the Swedish Crown Jewels!

Nice interview in The Sunday Times with the Phillips siblings where Zara reveals that she sadly had not one, but two miscarriages.

Blimey, someone's pinched the Swedish Crown Jewels! I suspect we'll see Fergie wearing them at Eugenie's wedding Grin

Paradyning · 01/08/2018 08:37

Thought it was the Swedish tiaras at first! I love Madeliene's! Phew.

Very sad about Zara. M/c are brutal. Imagine having to publicise the fact.

VanillaSugar · 01/08/2018 08:42

Especially as the first m/c was a late one and she had to go through the birth - just before Christmas with a little one (Mia) - doesn't bear thinking about. Thanks

Clionba · 01/08/2018 08:51

An interesting note about Buckingham Palace - the art display now open to the public is from the Prince of Wales' personal collection. In contrast to previous years, HM did not visit the exhibition prior to her journey to Scotland.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/08/2018 10:31

I always get the feeling HM is happiest at Balmoral. It seems to be her spiritual home.

She has thousands of acres of peace and quiet at Balmoral. Although according to the Crown, she quite likes Sandringham

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/08/2018 12:58

I think she's naturally introverted, even after doing her job for 70 years, so probably likes to get away to the wilds of Scotland. I suspect William and George are the same - perhaps it comes with the responsibility of being the heir. Harry seems far more comfortable meeting and greeting and Charlotte, even at 3, is happy to smile and wave at the crowds while George looks a little intimidated.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 01/08/2018 16:13

Don’t think it really has anything to do with being the heir. That concept won’t have been realised by George yet. It is just their personalities. My first child is like that. My second child is much friendlier. Maybe it is an eldest child thing?

VanillaSugar · 01/08/2018 16:43

Yup, the Precious First Born! Grin

Cornwall73 · 01/08/2018 17:01

Public scrutiny on Charles will also be on him as a person who has lost a parent and how he is grieving etc as well as what he is like as king. It will be a tricky balance - does he show emotion? Does he get criticised for showing too much or not enough? Does he get critisitied with just getting on with the role he has been waiting for a long time? Hopefully the tragic circumstances with Diana’s death will have prepared them to tackle it sensitively whilst remembering that he is also human.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/08/2018 17:18

Royal sightings have been a bit low key as they are all on holiday.
However it’s Harry’s friend Thomas van Straubenzee’s wedding on Saturday and also Meghan’s birthday so hopefully we will have a few frocks to discuss.

Apparently the Sussexes are going to Balmoral, so I wonder if we’ll see Meghan in Tweed

lightonthewater · 01/08/2018 18:02

Apparently PH will be at the wedding, and Prince W is expected to attend. i thought the Cambridge's were in Mustique and Harry and Meghan are supposed to be on holiday too?!!

Clionba · 01/08/2018 18:08

The Cambridges have been in Mustique. Maybe they're back? If they are, I wonder why Kate isn't going? Rumour is that Meghan is in the US.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/08/2018 18:24

Meghan's in the US? Maybe she's visiting her dad?

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/08/2018 18:45

I don’t see Kate rushing off to a wedding straight after a holiday.
Perhaps it will just be Harry & William.
Although surely Meghan would want to spend her birthday with Harry, or if she’s in the US; her mum....

Watchingtheworldgoby · 01/08/2018 18:53

I read today (which doesn’t mean it is true) that Harry and Meghan are going to the wedding and so is William. The groom is one of George’s godfathers and they were all at school together.

user1457017537 · 01/08/2018 18:54

I think news is always a week or so late so they are probably back

Clionba · 01/08/2018 18:55

It's a shame Kate won't be there, then m

Clionba · 02/08/2018 08:01

"It's tough being a Princess with a day job in the age of Instagram" according to Beatrice and Eugenie in today's Telegraph. There's so much wrong with that sentence that I don't know where to begin.
