Yes, I thought that was odd. It was at a time when William wasn't sure about their future and wanted to avoid them being photographed at a wedding together.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 29/07/2018 11:51

Definiteky inname only. She was never going to be allowed embarrass the family by running from the alter. It is a sad way to live a life. I don’t think I ever really lived DH, we have children and we amble along but I often think what it must be like to be with somebody I truly am in love with. I think huge amounts of privilege and wealth would help a lot!!!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/07/2018 12:07

There's always a handsome bodyguard or two lurking in the background in photos of Charlene. I wouldn't blame her for looking elsewhere now that she's given Albert an heir and a spare - he strikes me as a boring git!

Re APB being no looker in the 70s, I think the most of the aristocracy have benefitted from cosmetic surgery and good dentists! There were very few who were attractive, obviously there were exceptions but on the whole an unattractive bunch. They age well though due to being financially secure.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/07/2018 13:00

It's probably all the inbreeding! At least the younger generation have married out of the aristocracy for the most part, and expanded the gene pool a bit.

Stress free lives for the most part, great healthcare, cosmetic dentistry, best hairdressers, top medical team. Most of us would look better than we now look.

VanillaSugar · 29/07/2018 14:50

Back to Prince Albert - the real love of his life was unsuitable which means Prince Harry is a lucky guy in that HMTQ is more understanding. Speaking of which, will Thomas Markle just F.O.!

Watchingtheworldgoby · 29/07/2018 15:57

Agree about TM. He is really irritating to even read about, he is like a fly you just want to swat!

ajandjjmum · 29/07/2018 16:20

I was interested to read that Buckingham Palace did send someone over to help, but seems like they were swatted away.

user1457017537 · 29/07/2018 16:28

I don’t believe for one moment BP sent someone over to help. They didn’t see this coming at all or it would have been sorted out prior to the wedding. TM would have been in London prior to the wedding if he was going to have a role as father of the bride.

lightonthewater · 29/07/2018 17:00

Apparently Harry had an ex Army friend who was readied to go over and escort Thomas to the UK prior to the wedding. This was explained to Thomas. He was also asked not to talk to the Press. So to go ahead and do exactly as he was asked specifically not to... what does that say about any respect or love he has for his daughter? He couldn't embarrass her more if he tried.

user1457017537 · 29/07/2018 17:08

I don’t mean to split hairs but no be actually went did they?

user1457017537 · 29/07/2018 17:08

One not be

lightonthewater · 29/07/2018 17:10

Well they were waiting for Thomas to give the word. Apparently they said this chap was on standby and could go as soon as Thomas said he was ready. He never did, because i don't think he wanted to go at all.

WipsGlitter · 29/07/2018 17:52

I think they should have anticipated it all a bit more.

I was surprised her mum didn't come over earlier as well. She arrived like a day in advance she must have been knackered.

Clionba · 29/07/2018 18:07

Yes, the mum came over at the last minute. The original plan was for Mr Markle to come on the day before he was going to walk her down the aisle! At the time I thought it was a bit peculiar. You'd think they'd want to bring them over to get relaxed, settled and have a rehearsal.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 29/07/2018 18:19

Seeing as TM wasn’t bothered to even meet Harry beforehand, says a lot. I think Neghan is rightyocut himoff. He can’t be trusted.

ajandjjmum · 29/07/2018 18:45

According to the TM interview, they did go.

It's a sad situation that only seems to get worse.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 29/07/2018 19:17

Apologies for so many typos. I was writing with a kid demanding attention beside me.

beanaseireann · 29/07/2018 19:43

I still think it's very odd that in the months prior to the wedding Harry and Meghan didn't fly over to meet TM. It's not as if they'd have to save for the flights. Smile
They could have nipped all the problems in the bud.
Extraordinary that Meghan's mother had no friend or family member with her at the wedding.

Clionba · 29/07/2018 20:19

Yes, I felt sorry for Doria, she seemed all alone! It was nice to see Charles offering his hand at the wedding, and both he and Camilla were clearly making the effort to be friendly. It's a pity she couldn't have brought a friend for company.

LoveProsecco · 29/07/2018 20:26

I have just googled Princess Charlotte. Sounds like a sad situation

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/07/2018 20:37

There's always a handsome bodyguard or two lurking in the background in photos of Charlene.

Well all 3 of Princess Stephanie's children were fathered by 2 different bodyguards.

I do feel sorry for Charlene. She always looks so sad. Apparently she tried to run away 3 times and her father wouldn't let her go back to South Africa

2up2manydown · 29/07/2018 21:23

I don’t feel sorry for Charlene. I mean, yes, she shouldn’t have been allowed to walk away at any point up to the wedding.

But it’s not as though he plucked her from obscurity and said “you shall be a princess” whether you like it or not. She had plenty of time to end the relationship.

2up2manydown · 29/07/2018 21:24

Sorry!!! She SHOULD have been allowed to walk away, of course.
