Fairy I'm quite short too 5' 2"and the Lola dress sits just above the knee, it's a very generously sized dress and I order an XS when normally I'm an S/8. The first time I ordered it in the S it swamped me whereas the XS fits well.

Grin
shopafrolic · 25/09/2018 17:30

Grin Grin Grin

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/09/2018 18:09

blingy I had the same reaction as today I was wearing a knee length A line leather skirt and black suede ankle boots with bare legs Shock Blush. I thought it looked quite good till I read queenc’s comment Grin.

I tried the blue Hobbs dress on in a 12 and felt it was a better fit than the 10. However I’m not sure if I’m going to reorder as not sure if it will be one of those ‘sweaty’dresses. I didn’t see much inspiration from looking round.

Thanks for the heads up bernice on the Boden dress in the sale. Has yours arrived? How does it fit?

Stokey · 25/09/2018 18:21

I do think ankle boots look better with a shorter skirt or trousers. Then again, I wear them with cullottes too Hmm

Love reading the round ups, sounds great fun.

I loved that BBC 4 doc. Maybe we need a clubbing MU Grin

MarshaBradyo · 25/09/2018 19:28

Stokey I’d love an evening one, one day

I need to get back into skirts and ankle boots.

Btw I’m totally up for a pre-Christmas MU to explore this trend ;

Blair and Bernice I don’t want to clog up the vogue the baby trend completely, so room for more - or day off!

Blair did you have a good day off? Can’t remember if it’s hapoened yet

Anyone else fancy booking in an MU date?

MarshaBradyo · 25/09/2018 19:28

Oh yes Mara I remember, they are perfect for work. I’d like some more as mine are a bit trashed

Stokey · 25/09/2018 19:33

This must also be a future MU day out

QueenCyan · 25/09/2018 19:54

Hangs head in shame....sorry if I’ve offended anyone.

Longislandicetee · 25/09/2018 20:12

Grin no chance hon. Was too busy laughing to be offended. I was actually wearing a dress (knee length) with my new wedge ankle boots.

Longislandicetee · 25/09/2018 20:15

Loved Bernice and Dry's links with their mu dress and top respectively. Much kudos to you both as you both looked much better in your outfits than the models! Especially Bernice's dress which looks really shapeless on the model.

MarshaBradyo · 25/09/2018 20:26

Yes defo looks better on Bernice I thought that too

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/09/2018 20:35

I wasn’t offended either! I just usually resort to the ankle boots as they are comfy and I like the shape!

QueenCyan · 25/09/2018 21:21

Well we all know I’m not very trendy and it took me years to get into skinnies so give me another 5 years and I’ll be wearing my ankle boots with bare legs Grin. I do like boots with tights and short skirts though!!!

Thank goodness the return button is working again.

DryWhiteagainW · 25/09/2018 21:44

Well I’ll stick to what I’m doing with skirts and ankle boots then.

Bernice I didn’t notice your dress had horses on it, just the lovely blue and how nice it looked with the wide belt.

Return key is working again....very odd Hmm

Wore my red coat to parents’ evening today with slim cut black trousers, cream COS sweater and black Hobbs patent loafers, felt nice, DD said DH (in suit) and I looked as if we were “going to a wedding” !!!! Felt proud Grin (although we all know I’d NEVER wear trousers or flats to a wedding Grin )

shopafrolic · 25/09/2018 22:22

Same as the others Bernice - I never saw the horses, just how fab the blue was on you and how great the dress looked belted. So good.

QueenCyan · 26/09/2018 07:23

It got me thinking when I said give me 5 years and I’ll be doing the bare leg boot thing. So what trends did you say you’d never do but here you are wearing them?

For me it’s skinnies. I remember never wanting to leave my beloved gap long and lean and straight legs but got into skinnies and never looked back

QueenCyan · 26/09/2018 07:24

1 December for mu???

DryWhiteagainW · 26/09/2018 07:48

Skinnies.....NEVER NEVER MEVER I said when I saw Kate Moss in a pair

OP posts:
FedupNagging · 26/09/2018 07:55

Skinnies - was definitely never, ever going to wear skinnies (loved my bootcuts) also ankle boots with skirts and flared crops!

Fairy I love the Lola dress too, it's a perfect knee length on me and yes, is definitely oversized. I'm on the hunt for an all purpose black dress and was looking at more fitted but may well see if there is one in black. Fab bargain on that lovely checked dress Kitty

I have stupidly managed to burn a hole in my Whistles shirt - only worn it once. Luckily it was a sale item although still £65!

Are there any autumns besides Lib on here still? There are some fabulous mustard/yellow jumpers around - no time now but will try to link some later.

FedupNagging · 26/09/2018 07:56

Ha, cross post Dry Grin

Also said I'd never wear ripped jeans and have stuck to that one!

Fairysnow · 26/09/2018 14:39

Fedup There is a black one left in xs. I ordered one today. I’m a dark autumn.

I think the ankle boots/skirts/bare legs is about proportions - so depends on the particular outfit and your own body ratio. Today I felt inspired and wore a-line black leather mini with bare legs and these GRs. I worry about ankle boots cutting off my already short legs.

I’ve started taking public transport to work sometimes and I am loving the outfit watching - so inspiring Smile

Fairysnow · 26/09/2018 14:47

I remember the first skinnies I ever saw on a woman in real life as I got off the train at St Pancras - I couldn’t get the image out of my mind...took me a while longer to try them myself though.

FedupNagging · 26/09/2018 14:53

Thanks Fairy I'll wander over to have a look although xs will be too small - s or m at a push

I like the style of all 3 attached but none are in a colour I want/can wear. I can do orange though. I tried a cream Aran style jumper in &os which I loved but hesitated as not a practical colour -obviously was wearing my middle aged suburban mum head Wink Queen
