Evening!! SotD was 22 - such a powerhouse and becoming my go to scent for those days at work when I know I'll need a "I'm not being fobbed off, just watch me boss this" sort of attitude. Little goes a long way too...

Came home to my Habanita and Shalimar Grin Test driving the Habanita... ooof!

MrsLucas · 18/06/2018 19:26

What do you think of it Cheap - wasn't sure about 'ooof' Grin? I like it best after its mellowed and gets a bit of lived-in feel.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 18/06/2018 19:29

Ooof as in I'd quite like to head to a bar, drink some hard liquor, and stay out all night wearing this Grin

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 18/06/2018 19:43

I did a reccy of Boots samples earlier, highly recommend Boss For Her

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/06/2018 19:49

Oooh cheap that sounds a fabulous way to wear Habanita Grin

MrsLucas · 18/06/2018 19:50

Ah - got you! Can I come too?

RaingodsWithZippos · 18/06/2018 20:39

I hadn't heard of Fragrantica, I love it! There are so many perfumes out there... the Ajmal one I have smells delicious, and is long lasting - I put some on this morning and can still smell it now. I was given another Arabian one, an oil, which I think was called Noora which smells just like marzipan at first but then changes to something more sophisticated - not like cheap celeb fragrances - but I hadn't been able to find who made it. But the Fragrantica website has it!

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/06/2018 21:40

SOTD was MG Plum. I posted on Instagram and MG herself commented on my photo. I can never remember, is it her or CT who is bonkers about always sleeping in makeup and not letting your OH see you bare faced? (My poor OH mainly sees me bare faced, specs, and “lounge wear”.)

BlueKittens · 18/06/2018 22:09

Judy it’s Charlotte Tilbury who doesn’t let her hubby see her makeup less. Apparently she takes all her makeup off before bed, fully cleanses / moisturises, then reapplies bed time makeup. Then repeats the removal/ cleansing before applying daytime makeup in the morning. Ok then Confused

I suppose we all do that with out SOTD- Bed time scents - SOTD etc, but it’s much quicker.

When a CT ad appears on Instagram I get a little bit scared Shock

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/06/2018 22:17

How can “bed time makeup” be a thing? Unless I have a second shower I don’t even do a different perfume for bed. (Should I unsubscribe from the newsletter?)

SwedishEdith · 18/06/2018 22:19

I was trying to find out what the perfumes I like had in common and found this www.fragrancesoftheworld.com/FragranceFinder.

Don't know how accurate it is.

MrsLucas · 18/06/2018 22:42

Grin at Judy.

Is a pattern emerging Edith?

SwedishEdith · 18/06/2018 22:52

Not sure yet - may need a spreadsheet. Wink. Possibly woody Orientals.

MrsLucas · 18/06/2018 22:55

What are your favourites?

SwedishEdith · 18/06/2018 23:10

Over the years - Opium, Coco, Dolce Vita, Champagne. Heavy ones, it seems.

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/06/2018 07:11

Morning all! Well I got my arse handed to me last night after daring to start a thread about a new frock I'd bought! I'm back in the friendly embrace of the Perfumistas and I'm never venturing out again.

Now I know how people who wear Angel feel Grin

SOTD is Bodhi Language, for comfort, lolol.

mrsreynolds · 19/06/2018 07:15

😯 fennel!?

Do I need to kick some ass?
brushes off knuckle dusters
🤣

I only really post here and on the westminsterenders threads.

Mn is scary at times!

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/06/2018 07:18

It's the 'this is a flattering dress' thread. Honestly, bunch of bloody vipers Grin. I look nice!

Mrsr I read the Westminsterenders threads, they're great. I'm too unknowledgeable to actually post though.

mrsreynolds · 19/06/2018 07:31

I've just looked...

I agree. It's fab.

I love linen dresses and have one or two.

I've just ordered a dress and hat thing for a wedding in September.

Ohhhh...what perfume shall I wear...hmmm....

ThenCameTheFools · 19/06/2018 07:35

I saw that thread Fennel. I imagine the people who criticise frocks like that to be fond of a cold-shoulder top. Wink Which has never looked good on anyone, anywhere, ever. Dd has developed a penchant for them, but she is 14 and it's allowed. On grown women I just want to point them in the direction of wherever Julia Roberts used to stand in Pretty Woman. Ahem.

Oh god 22! On me it was a ohmigodgetthisoff. I did retry it, but nope.

I am being very good (have I mentioned school's out? SCHOOL's OUT!!!!) and testing the multitude of untested samples. I grabbed a handful and some cards, and will try and get through as many as possible before coming to the UK, so I can hand the ones I don't like over to you lot (finally)

Odin n 6 Amanu- (or something) pleasant enough, citrussy opening, fresh, summery. Nothing special, nothing bad.

McQueen eponymous- ohmygodgetitoff. Smelled like Anais Anais had been on smack and had sex with Amarige and Chanel 22 at the same time and then produced an olfactory lovechild. I felt like I should be ringing a bell before approaching people but tbh, it was one of those things where it wouldn't be necessary as they'd smell me in the next county. I looked it up and it does say "big on white flowers" Grin

JHAG Anyway- now I really liked this- on the card. Watery, neroli, citrussy, like a Jo Malone version of an Annick Goutal. I decided it was to be my evening scent, put it on my skin and didn't like it at all. Hmm

JHAG Miss Charming. Utter. Pink. Minger. Fizzy pink sherbert. DD will love it.

YSL Kouros- now I bought this sample because I was convinced it was what my flatmate once wore and I wanted olfactory memories- nothing romantic, gay as a very gay thing. But it's not. And it's horrible. Cheap men's aftershave.

I also revisted Heeley Cuir Plein Fleur (is it) and Keiko Mecheri Genie something Grin but both are far too smoky and leathery to properly appreciate in summer.

I went to bed in Paris Premieres Roses, which is not as long lasting as, but on the opening identical to, original Paris. That lush hit of rose and violet. Yummy.
