I saw that thread Fennel. I imagine the people who criticise frocks like that to be fond of a cold-shoulder top.
Which has never looked good on anyone, anywhere, ever. Dd has developed a penchant for them, but she is 14 and it's allowed. On grown women I just want to point them in the direction of wherever Julia Roberts used to stand in Pretty Woman. Ahem.
Oh god 22! On me it was a ohmigodgetthisoff. I did retry it, but nope.
I am being very good (have I mentioned school's out? SCHOOL's OUT!!!!) and testing the multitude of untested samples. I grabbed a handful and some cards, and will try and get through as many as possible before coming to the UK, so I can hand the ones I don't like over to you lot (finally)
Odin n 6 Amanu- (or something) pleasant enough, citrussy opening, fresh, summery. Nothing special, nothing bad.
McQueen eponymous- ohmygodgetitoff. Smelled like Anais Anais had been on smack and had sex with Amarige and Chanel 22 at the same time and then produced an olfactory lovechild. I felt like I should be ringing a bell before approaching people but tbh, it was one of those things where it wouldn't be necessary as they'd smell me in the next county. I looked it up and it does say "big on white flowers"
JHAG Anyway- now I really liked this- on the card. Watery, neroli, citrussy, like a Jo Malone version of an Annick Goutal. I decided it was to be my evening scent, put it on my skin and didn't like it at all.
JHAG Miss Charming. Utter. Pink. Minger. Fizzy pink sherbert. DD will love it.
YSL Kouros- now I bought this sample because I was convinced it was what my flatmate once wore and I wanted olfactory memories- nothing romantic, gay as a very gay thing. But it's not. And it's horrible. Cheap men's aftershave.
I also revisted Heeley Cuir Plein Fleur (is it) and Keiko Mecheri Genie something
but both are far too smoky and leathery to properly appreciate in summer.
I went to bed in Paris Premieres Roses, which is not as long lasting as, but on the opening identical to, original Paris. That lush hit of rose and violet. Yummy.
