I have a secret drawer dh knows nothing about...

OCSock · 04/07/2018 19:56

The vast buddleia by my gate is in full bloom, which I should like (I do love the butterflies) but all I can see is the bloody seedlings that will self-set everywhere and require tearing up next spring. It has a delicious honeyed fragrance which enables me to tolerate it, just.

Rose Silences was SoTD but has gone, so reaching into the sample drawer and having a belt of Undergrowth (Rook for the non lemmings). It has been much cooler here today and generally overcast, but fine weather is expected again tomorrow. The opening vegetal note chimes.

SockJr has taken a ton of gear to camp overnight near the beach for an 18th birthday party, including an ancient Eskie big enough to refrigerate a sheep. That's for the beer. He could have left for Mongolia with so much kit.

SOTD Sexy Ruby by Michael Kors

(Cheeky squirt in Boots Grin)

Nice. Fruity!

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/07/2018 21:02

I loved Fathom V, plausible. It was bonkers, but I rather like bonkers, in perfume at least.

My office was full of the scent of WIDOMH and R&C today - my office mate is hooked Grin

Calmanddance · 04/07/2018 21:47

Fennel, I was so pleased to hear the Sarah McCartney workshop went well. It’s always quite knuckle-biting when there’s a mix of work and personal life, especially when you have recommended someone!

Plausible, I think you should definitely try SJP Covet. I’m very fond of it. It’s good all year round, for any occasion and, on me, has great longevity. It’s a lavender chocolate floral, not too sweet. The lavender is not strong and the chocolate is light and sits underneath.

In this hot weather I have been using Eau de Reglisse (Caron), a citrussy ginger liquorice. It doesn’t last long, but was an ebay bargain so I’m happy to keep re-spraying. Also 4160’s Scenthusiasm, of which I have now ordered a full bottle in the 3 for the price of 2 sale.

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/07/2018 22:14

MrsRRR have just tried to PM you but it isn't working...

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/07/2018 22:35

Killer Rose arrived and I like ti very much. I'm not sure if i like it more than it's original form yet. Glad i managed to pick it up!

auberginesrus · 04/07/2018 23:11

My 4160s arrived yesterday. Not sure on Killer Rose, may pass to my friend for her birthday as think it would be more her thing. Had a spray of Ealing Green last night and thought it was a bit different to the tester - the violets much stronger and over all not as nice. Hoping it was just the weather that made it smell different.

Off to York in the morning (work for 2 days then leisure) so may try my sample of Freeway for the trek across the M62 Grin

auberginesrus · 04/07/2018 23:12

SOTD was Paul Smith Rose - enjoying this one

MrsLucas · 04/07/2018 23:19

Evening All! I wondered what you'd make of Scent, Plausible! Was going to join you in it tonight (wondered if the stinky cumin would fly-off especially quickly in the heat, reducing the requirement to apply at least an hour before leaving the house), however it's MIA Shock. Hope it turns up as I'm rather attached to it, even if I wear it rarely and cautiously.

The Beaufort's are challenging too. LT is clearly a fan.

Have been at home, so have been splashing various things on various limbs, including Light Blue (didn't remember this being so gruff!), Chant D'Aromes (wow, what a contrast between the aldehydic opening and the sweet, rich and balsamy heart and base), and L'Eau Neuve (vintage, but spurred on by LT/TS's discussion of the house's revival. Still an absolutely great citrus aromatic - top notes intact).

Have also sprayed some Clive Christian No.1 (a Feel Unique Pick n Mix) on my knee - but am not quite flexible enough to fully appreciate despite multiple yoga classes each week Not sure how you make ankles work Pesty? Grin

PlausibleSuit · 05/07/2018 08:55

Fennel Beaufort do very interesting things. I had a sample of Vi Et Armis a few months ago, and while again I didn't want to wear it (out), I thought it was unlike anything else I'd ever tried. Fathom V hit me in the wrong mood, I think; I was expecting freshness but the vibe there is loamy soil and about 100 other dark and mysterious things. I may try it again in the autumn; I wonder if it might suit a cool day.

Calm my finger is back over the buy button for Covet now. I'm funny about lavender - I love actual lavender plants, but it doesn't always work on me as a fragrance. I tried Pour un Homme de Caron but I could never get it to work - too sweet. I need some green lushness in there.

MrsL I really enjoy Scent. I like how brazen it is! Halo It is one for a cautious spray-finger, definitely.

Training this morning, so no scent yet (doesn't play nicely with synthetic sports fabrics). Later on SOTD will be Frapin Isle of Man.

PestymcPestFace · 05/07/2018 09:44

Big virtual hug Pineapple, make sure you fit in lots of RL hugs.

SotD yesterday was Tonnerre, seemed to get away with it at work, added a quick spritz of MJ grapefruit splash to freshen it up for the afternoon. I quite like it,. It reminds me of something, however it may be weeks before I remember what.
SotD is Metal Hurlant, I will compare it to Time to Draw the Raffle Numbers later as they have some similarities.

SJP Covert is surprisingly niche for a celeb fragrance. Try it, Plausible and everyone else. I love Scent, yes best applied sparingly. Have been experimenting with layering it and it works well with Arrogant Cat Hmm

I bought Killer Rose on a whim, last year and really like it. Have not worn it for months though, so not sure how it works in this heat.

I'm a naturally bendy person MrsL, becoming less so with time. I also think I may be becoming taller with time. Every item of clothing I own seems to be a 'Just pop it over your head and wiggle jobbie'. Not possible with shoulder injury so dug out box of old dresses, feck me some of them are short Blush my legs must be getting longer, no other explanation.

Compiling shopping list for visit to Sephora (yey, holiday) what do I need.

SOTD is Floral Street Chypre Sublime

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/07/2018 18:13

SOTD was MMM Untitled. I’m already in pyjamas and Caldey Island Lavender now.

pineapple thinking of you.

fennel I would also have been fan-girling over Sarah!

Calmanddance · 05/07/2018 20:43

I’ve had an elephant day today 🐘! Zoologist Elephant was early this morning (massive green sandalwood with a bit of coconut) and when it had gone, eight hours later, Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant (beautifully fragrant spices).

MrsLucas · 05/07/2018 21:21

What's the Caldey Island Lavender like Judy? I have there No.1 and Gorse but not Lavender. I love lavender perfumes - pleased to have S&B's last 100ml bottle of Suffolk Lavender. I like The Lion Cupboard too.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/07/2018 22:03

MrsL it just arrived today - annoyingly it had leaked everywhere so about a fifth is missing. It starts off smelling a bit sweaty (??) then dries down to a really lovely, fresh, bright scent. It’s not got much oomph, so it would definitely need topping up over the course of a day.

MrsLucas · 05/07/2018 22:29

That's a shame. Glad there was still some of it left. Have had a couple ebay disasters where I've received soggy envelopes containing the smashed remnants of vintage miniatures.

UnnecessaryFennel · 06/07/2018 07:51

Am in LADDM to present at a conference today...went out last night with some former colleagues who are also here and didn't have the early night I'd promised myself, eeeek. LADDM will have to keep me going until I can slip away back home Grin

SOTD Black Opium by YSL

Another cheeky squirt in Boots

I can’t work out what the notes are but I like it Grin

OCSock · 06/07/2018 15:49

Infusions d'Iris today. Love it but it doesn't last; when it runs out, I'll get the PP dupe that PIAM/ThenCametheFools reckons lasts much betterr. The Iris Cedre dupe certainly has more longevity.

Epic housework today... more washing to hang out and the kitchen floor to mop next. The glamour...

BlueKittens · 06/07/2018 16:50

Ah none of my perfumes last in this heat!

So far I’ve worn Frederic Malle Iris Poudre, No 19 Iris Poudre and Prada Iris Infusions Amande! I do smell gorgeous now though! Very ‘clean’ and soapy!

CountFosco · 06/07/2018 17:26

SotD Beaver. I like its green dampness but it hasn't lasted as long as the other Zoologists have. May be the weather of course. So SotE is Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose. Cheap and cheerful orange blossom, perfect for scent eating sweaty skin.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/07/2018 17:43

is Insolence worth getting? my local boots has some small bottles reduced but i can't remember if i've ever tried it before

Calmanddance · 06/07/2018 19:01

OneNight, Insolence is a classy powdery violet. It’s not one that I turn to often, but I enjoy when I do. It doesn’t last long on me.

MrStark, Black Opium is one of my favourites now, but for a long time I found it quite weird. I kept going back to test it in the stores. Eventually, I looked up the notes. For me the odd note was coffee and, once I understood that, I loved it!

This morning I wore L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Mure et Musc. This is a perfumed blackberry (no acidic fruit) and soft musk, probably in my top ten list. It lasted 5-6 hours. I was conscious of it when I was on my walk, bypassing all the sad-looking brambles, laden with wizened fruit. No chance of blackberrying this year, I think, unless we suddenly get lots of rain!

Later today I tried a tester of 4160Tuesdays’ Mrs Gloss & the Goss Outdoors. It was very strong, like an over-powerful aftershave, and I didn’t like it 😨 ! I will put it away for the winter - perhaps it will behave better then.
