SOTD is Rook Neroli again today. I do love this one and will probably buy a FB at some point.

Only thing is it doesn't last terribly long, but then I am dipping from the little stick in the sample. Spray bottles tend to create better coverage (there is quite a lot of me to cover).

SOTE is 4160T's Amberama. Have ordered a pizza for dinner and am on the sofa for the evening. Looooong day. Bushed!

Fave 4160s:

Eau My Soul - utter luxury, makes me feel as if I'm bathing in champagne (which I'm sure isn't half as glamorous as it sounds but ykwim...)
Creamy Vanilla Crumble - agree with kittens, the name doesn't do justice to this smoky, grown-up vanilla-and-hay concoction
Another Kiss By The Fireside - I can't actually put my finger on what I love so much about this, I can only describe it as incredibly cozy yet oddly exhilarating
Rhubarb & Custard - genius gourmand
Rome 1963 - all my least-favourite white flowers blended with bergamot and fag smoke to metamorphose into something quite, quite marvellous

I am not a fan of many of Sarah's fruitier/more obviously floral outings, and I've actually been bitterly disappointed by several (Goodbye Piccadilly and Sexiest Scent, I'm looking at you in particular). But my god, when she gets it right (for me) there's nothing better. I return to 4160s over and over and over again and could quite happily wear nothing else.

In unpacking news: I've found my samples! So obviously I immediately put on Herba Fresca, so so perfect in the heat. Need to order a FB asap. The rest of this week I've been alternating MG Lemon and Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose both of which are good in the heat.

I have found a lot of the 4160s very sweet. But I like Goodbye Picadilly, and Sleep Knot is truly lovely if fleeting. WIDOMH was fun and I should probably buy a 9ml because I loved the mint note. I feel like I should like Ealing Green and Outdoors more than I should but for me they aren't quite dry enough, too much sweet exuberance. I do like them, I'm just being fussy. And it might be the heat, I just want bitter citrus at the moment!

SOTD Chanel 19 for the scary hospital. I need to get fitted for a different type of night guard, and if that doesn’t help they are going to put me on nerve medication which sounds horrible. My actual teeth are “structurally sound” and apparently the pain is being caused by clenching into my current guard...? sock when are you going for those? That sounds expenny!

I am probably going to be asked to hand in my cards, but I really haven’t liked most of the 4160s I’ve tried. I own WIDOMH, but the other samples I’ve tried (loads) haven’t been for me. I particularly disliked the city ones, and thought Sexiest Scent was really meh. Sorry!

Anyway. I am now on HOLIDAY until the middle of August!

Ladies, and gents? If one wanted to smell like sex, what perfume should one buy, ahem.. asking for a friend

SOTE is CK One Red Edition for Her. Both aquatic and floral with a bit of musk behind it. Nice and fresh feeling for what is a humid, sticky night.

Hey I haven’t read ft but I’m an irregular lurker. Did you already discuss here that Tania Sanchez and Lucs Turin have an updated ed of their Prrfumes Guide for 2018?
I spotted it today on Amazon and downloaded it on my kindle. Just as fun reading reviews now as when the first ed came out, but harder to casually walk into a dept store for a good sniff as so many available online only.

Eau my soul gets 3 stars I think.

Far fewer 5 stars than the last guide, but luckily I have all the LHeure Bleue and Tocade I’ll ever need and rather too much Theo Fennell saves since then.

Want want Grossmith Shem el Nessim but a zillion ponds. I had a sample once. Heaven.

Luca loves a lot of things from Lush/ Gorilla. Almost tempted to step into one of those stink bomb shops to reassess. I have Lust, the jasmine one and it’s improper!

Speaking of LT#1, no, hadn't heard that and will investigate immediately! Do they revise any of their original 5*s to take account of reformulations (or have any changes of heart)?

Speaking of LT#2, Coconut, Theo Fennell's Scent might be one to try? Or Femme (vintage), or vintage Diva? Cumin or civet notes?

Coconut Papillon's Salome smells like student sex to me but classed up a lot. They do a sample set and all the perfumes are very classy so worth a smell, you will like one of them. I love Zoologist's Civet but that reminds me too much of cats for it to be sexy but very comforting.

SotD Fleurs de Sel. Using up my sample because I have yet to find my FB.

I would second the suggestion of Theo Fennel's Scent - fair made me blush the first time I sniffed it

Sarah McCartney has a FB thread atm about the new Turin book, I meant to post it last night. Apparently she didn't realise she had to re-send him the stuff he'd already reviewed favourably for it to be included in the new edition. So stuff like WIDOMH and Lady Rose Lion, which he has previously waxed lyrical about, isn't in there. Such a shame!

Yes as unnecessary says, it's such a shame most of 4160s didn't make it into the Luca Tania reviews. I'm sure some of the others would have got 4 or even 5 stars.
I love Centrepiece. But then perhaps it's better that my darling was saved a possible savaging from Luca or Tania! They take no prisoners!

No, they don't revisit old ground. It's mostly perfumes I haven't heard of, but now want to smell. Reading the new one last night drove me to get the old version out though and spritz on some Tocade.

Ebay for some of them Coconut. Theo Fennell Scent is discontinued but last time I checked there was some ridiculously cheap parfum to be had. The EdT formulation is almost unwearably sweaty-skanky.

SotD is Black Fleece, yep this is one I love. X-ray yesterday, have a tiny hairline fracture so am able to start of physio straight away. Have to be fit for boating in two weeks. Codeine and pizza for breakfast
