Not having much luck with Perfume deliveries of late!! A Frederic Malle perfume from eBay has gone missing via Royal Mail. Seller says it’s out of their control. Does anyone know what I do next??

Yup. Report it as not received to eBay. They will do the rest. Seller will usually need to refund you, then claim on their postal insurance.

Couldn’t find my sample of Dune so SOTE is Midnight in the Palace Garden. Heavenly.

Thank you MrsLucas but the package was waiting for me when I arrived home- took about a week to get here It’s Iris Poudre and it’s absolutely gorgeous. A bit Chanel esque although different to Bois de iles, more musky. This would make a great signature scent (for people other than us lot!).

I was also bestowed with my replacement Rook discovery set. I’m now in Neroli and agree with teta it’s as good as the Francis Kurkdjian ‘clean’ scents- it’s soapy and sparkling and uplifting.

Does anyone I’m about to send 4160s want any of the Rook duplicates? If so which ones? Let me know this evening if you can please.

Which 4160s would people recommend for someone who likes poison tendre? I don’t know it.

Have visitors, so not paying attention to perfume. Placemarking really. But I do have major dental work booked in. Two crowns and a bridge.... yikes.

All 4160 sample packages wrapped up and ready to go - except Fools which I’ll send when you leave Italy and Socrates who hasn’t sent an address in PM yet. I had no bubble wrap, so had to make do with nappies don’t worry they’re unused and only the waste bands.

Hmmm Poohy nappies... that reminds me, I tried Midnight in the palace garden (another 4160) and it smells of poohy nappies on opening. Had to scrub. A quick check of the notes on fragrantica- and yep there’s Jasmine in it. MIL has (very kindly) surprised us with a huge fragrant Jasmine bush for our tiny garden which i feel compelled to plant. I really hate the indolic smell of Jasmine and hoping this one isn’t too fragrant, because the only spot for it is right by the patio

Ok, so I know we’ve done this before, but what are your favourite 4160s? Going through my big box of 4160s, getting the samples ready to send out, has caused me to reflect.

So my top ones - often reached for - are...

Silk Lace and Chocolate - it really is my guilty pleasure I don’t wear it out of the house (wearing it in bed right now in fact)
Creamy Vanilla Crumble - the name doesn’t do this one justice- it’s a complex, grown up vanilla
Sex Goddess - I find this so clever and complex and quite vintage screen sireny, it’s also a powerhouse fragrance. I often reach for this one.
Rhubarb and citrus cologne - to some people this smells of skunk or sweaty armpits so beware! But to my nose it’s sharp and fruity sweet - a true Rhubarb and the best I’ve found in perfumery. The grapefruit makes it mouthwatering and it’s perfect for this hot weather. It’s as good as Aqua di Parma for cutting through the heat and has some serious staying power.

I also like lots of others (Sexiest scent, London 1969, Tokyo Spring Blossom etc) but these are the ones I reach for time and time again

Oh and just to add, I disliked 3 of these to start with- I thought they were horrid. After a couple of wears they won me over and now I’m considering buying back up bottles in the 4160 sale!!

^ horrid is a bit strong ... I though they all had a horrid note or edge to them, but actually it was just because they were sooo different to what I’m used to perfumes smelling like, that it took me a while to get used to the difference- and they completely won me over. There are still lots in the range I really dislike (one actually makes me feel queasy) but I do think it’s great how they challenge you.

Blue Kittens - how did you get so many samples?!

The only 4160s I've really disliked are dark heart of old Havana and lady rose lion. I'm not that keen on shazam either.

But I haven't smelt all of them!

Even the ones I'm a bit "meh" about I can still appreciate as wonderfully blended/made.

I ordered Dark Heart as well as it's the half price sotw. (I am going to buy all of the specials this summer to take advantage of the cheap postage, if I don't like them I'm sure I can find a good home!)

I was a bit the opposite with Buddawood Box and the Lion Cupboard- loved them at first, then thought euuuuuw these are rank. Or if not rank, because that would be unfair- there is a jarring note in both that smells "unfinished". Like if it had been in a Tauer, it would be wonderful- somehow in those the dosage is off. Or something.

I love proper jasmine- loads of it here. But in perfume it has to be treated very carefully or it goes oud-y which is just total poo to me.

Here I am, flying to the UK tomorrow, house to sort out, chores to do. So am mumsnetting obviously. Aargh.

En Passant smells of of poo to me. The nappy sacs we used in Hk were Lilac scented and the smell takes me back. Twins, Pooey nappies and humidity are a rank mixture. In contrast I really love indolic Jasmine and white flowers.
Sotd is again Rook Neroli. It’s the first perfume I’ve worn in the car with dh he’s never complained about.

SOTD is Iris Poudre (Frederic Malle). Lots of iris and musk. Reminds me of Santal blush by Tom Ford, with the sparkling signature of a Chanel, also a bit of suncream thrown in. It’s very nice and feels grown up but fresh.

teta I feel the same about en passant. Very horrid to my nose (smelt it at that Somerset house exhibition). Pooey nappies in the heat are the worst. I’m desperately trying to encourage my DD with a stick chart to ditch the nappies! I really enjoyed Rook Neroli. It’s good.

firstly can any one tell me what the 4160 is ? also
what do people think of the perfume splendour I have half a bottle don't really like it because I cant smell it on myself, but still use it just to get rid of it I feel its destining for the bin, any thoughts?

4160Tuesdays is a London-based small perfumery. They make very interesting niche scent. They have a playful and non-snotty vibe with options to buy in affordably small volumes. Lots of love for them here. My all time faves include:

I think my favourtie 4160s are : Shazam!, Babylon Sunset, Rome 1963 and probably Paris 194...(i forget the last number!) I do have larger bottles of both Dark Heart of Old Havana and Maxed out both of which i won in competitions as well. Considering moving Maxed Out on as I never seem to reach for it and it can give me a bit of a headache but I'm not sure still

Scorchio again today and wearing Paul Smith Rose which I bought in Bodycare yesterday as I spotted it behind the counter when I was paying for something else and it was dead cheap. It's gorgeous, am working from home with the French windows open and thought I could smell the roses in the garden, but actually it's me

A colleague has sprayed me with JM Blackberry and Bay. All I will say is that I am still baffled by the popularity of this line.
