3- I recently listed a 70% full Chanel 19 Edt three times and it didn't sell at a starting price of £5. Something very odd going on in ebay perfume selling. I would have bitten the hand off a seller with that price had I not got a cupboard full. In the end I decided to keep it for when the EdP is a bit too grande dame!

MrsLucas · 24/06/2018 14:16

You're right, there is One! It's good isn't it?

Aubergines - Twilly isn't that heavy on the tuberose - don't be put off.

Agree on Luimere Doree rather than Neroli Portofino. But Manadarino di Amalfi Acqua makes the holiday cut, and Sahara Noir the desert island list. I'd happily wear lots of the Private Blends if I could afford them, starting with Noir de Noir and Italian Cypress.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/06/2018 14:39

oh yay mrsLucas hopefully i'm getting better at picking out notes rather than just saying 'oh its nice ' the marigold is unusual but nice and yes, it's a very good fragrance all said. I'd heard good things about it and managed to pick it up for under a tenner so very pleased with it!

PlausibleSuit · 24/06/2018 15:10

I like some of the Private Blends, but it's hit-and-miss. And trying them is tricky because TF counter staff are among the most hawk-like I've ever encountered. They always want to 'show you' and guide you to a purchase, rather than just let you discover for yourself. I know I'm in a shop, at the end of the day, but it all feels that bit more hard-nosed and commercial than other counters. Constant reminder that TF is first and foremost a marketing business.

Hope you don't mind me joining the thread @ThenCameTheFools
pointed me in this direction. I used to wear tender poison in the 90s and really loved it. Don't mean to sound sad but nothing has ever come close. Tried Gres Cabotine but seems like something is missing. So does any one know of a perfume similar to Tendre Poison.Thank You

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 15:47

Then - eBay is indeed weird lately. I had a bidding war over a bottle of Next Summer Sun, which eventually sold for 12.50. Yet can’t shift a full bottle of a classic Guerlain?!

Agree on Samsara, btw. One of my all time great perfume loves. So beautifully blended. Dreamy.

Welcome socraties. Tendre is the only Poison flanker I don’t really know, but I’m sure someone will be along soon who knows more.

I know nothing about Twilly, but always interested in a new tuberose (still reeling from the tuberose abomination that is TF Orchid Soleil...nearly blind bought then sniffed in a dept store and urgh...no!).

lasttimeround · 24/06/2018 15:48

Aubergine- im akso wary of tuberose often find it overwhelming. But twilly does it in a way thats not too much. Nice tho i cant sleep in it.
Supetdrug is doing deals on Obsession dkny and Britney Speats Fantasy. Im thinking of getting the latter. I dont have any gourmand perfumes and its actually rather nice

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 15:54

lastime - celeb gourmands are my guilty pleasure. I really like Britney’s Fantasy The Naughty Remix . It’s like a white chocolate and marzipan confectionary. And not too heavy. Yum.

auberginesrus · 24/06/2018 16:40

I've given Twilly a twirl for a very glamourous day of housework and the obligatory perfumnista trip to the tip Grin. You were all right - not too heavy on the tuberose and really rather pleasant after a very "perfumy" opening. Wouldn't rush to buy though.

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 17:04

Do any of you have opinions on Bond No 9 perfumes?

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/06/2018 17:09

I'm now in Phaedon Pure Azure from last week's Big Sniff on my left wrist - jasmine and neroli in spades. I can see how people could enjoy this but it's not for me. It's terribly, terribly sweet, almost gourmand. And I have a lot of time for many gourmand frags but, nope, this is not floating my boat.

On the other hand (see what I did there?) is Entre Ciel et Mer by Parfumerie Generale layered with the Bloom 'sea salt base'. Now this is bloody marvellous. I smell exactly as if I've just spent the day at the beach. I can almost feel the gritty sand on my skin. I am super-super impressed with PG scents so far and will definitely be investigating further...wonder if they have a sample set...

ThenCameTheFools · 24/06/2018 17:28

How can something called Pure Azure be a sweet gourmand? Perfume namers are rubbish sometimes, aren't they?
I am showered, pyjama'd and in vintage Fidji. I feel lovely.
Forgot to say I experimented last night with Paris Premieres Roses on one wrist and vintage Paris Edt on the other. Unfortunately the top notes of the Paris had gone, and it's the top notes of the PR that remind me of vintage Paris so it bombed as an experiment. I do have a half bottle somewhere of vintage Paris (last night I was using one of the 7ml ones) so will try again at some point.

ThenCameTheFools · 24/06/2018 17:30

Fennel- your combo sounds wonderful. I've decided I don't like the Bobbi Brown Beach I bought from ebay, as it is, as someone said, more reminiscent of wet seaweed on a damp day beach rather than sunkissed suncream Maldive oceanic.

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 18:01

Then - I’m a big fan of Paris in any formulation. I have the EDT and EDP, plus Premieres Roses. All divine, and layering in different combinations according to mood always works. I particularly love the EDT on its own, though (dry and smoky), or the EDP layered with PR...gorgeous flower bomb.

ttprw · 24/06/2018 18:47

I'm wafting around in mrsgloss indoors
Yum yum
sock did your ds like outdoors?

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 19:28

What are the indoors and outdoors like, mrsr (sorry, ADHD tendencies mean letter combinations don’t stick lol).

I have the original MrsGloss fragrance. Rarely gets an outing, but I do like it very much.

ttprw · 24/06/2018 19:37

Outdoors: very woody. Mossy. Linden blossom. It's heavy - great silage which I think is unusual for a 4160 - but gorgeous.
Indoors: also woody but much lighter imo. Sweeter. Marshmallowy. Not a gourmand though!
I think they are both unisex.
I adore them both but outdoors is definitely one for autumn/winter whereas I'm rocking indoors whilst I'm...Er....Indoors...😁
I like lemon sherbet too. That is a gourmand imo. Citrus, vanilla and musk.
Wasn't too keen on mrsglossmademedoit tbh...when will I learn with fruity scents!!??

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 19:41

Thanks mrsr

Intriguing! I think Indoors sounds more my thing, possibly.

I liked Lemon Sherbet loads, for reference...although not enough for a FB.

I do like gourmands AND fruity scents. Perfume evil twins? 😆 I love peach notes especially, which seem to be anathema to many perfumistas...

ttprw · 24/06/2018 19:45

Ah. Now. I don't mind citrus and peach scents!

But things with almond and coconut actually make me gag 🤢

Also not too keen on hay

3DSpex · 24/06/2018 19:47

I’m a sucker for the Grojsman peachy note

Bvlgari Pour Femme
YSL Champagne
KL Sun Moon Stars
ET Doamond & Rubies
Paloma Picasso Tentations

Oh, hello!

MrsRRR · 24/06/2018 19:48

Ah!
That's better!
My other nn was basically random letters banged on the keypad in a temper!!!
Grin
I've never figured out how to get old nns back...

MrsRRR · 24/06/2018 19:49

Oooh...
Now you're talking!
I think it was me that introduced you to diamonds and rubies??

MrsLucas · 24/06/2018 19:50

Only smelt Chinatown 3 - lovely, unusual floral oriental. Doesn't smell like any of its constituent notes. It's got a delicate, perfectly calibrated warm, spicy-floral, almost gourmand opening, then becomes a perfect lightish, but interesting floriental, with a clipped, waxy/gummy quality. Makes me think of the texture/qualities of old fashioned solid school glue.

ttprw · 24/06/2018 20:23

.

ttprw · 24/06/2018 20:23

Grrrr
