My first hush order just came, the yellow sloppy joe fits ok loose but doesn’t drowned me, the denim skirt is lovely but it’s too big I think I can take it off, without undoing the button/zip I’m bit gutted as it’s really lovely great colour & really soft.

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 12:50

That bell ring brought Kensington shirt dress on back order and photos don’t do it justice, lovely silky fabric, swishy skirt and pockets! (Excuse mess in background trying to show it in different lights)

dontcallmehelen how frustrating and one of the things with Hush all of us find annoying: inconsistent sizing, return and size down (as you like the skirt otherwise).

As example of this inconsistency every button dress I’ve tried has always left me with a little gap at boob level in a size 12, if I size up is too huge everywhere else yet the Kensington doesn’t have that problem.
Also I’m just under 5’4” tall (must remember seeks trick to elongate myself in pics) and I would say this dress in this size for anyone much taller than 5’6” tall just wouldn’t work as the elasticated waist would come up too high and look odd

dontcallmelen · 18/05/2018 13:07

@SoyYo that dress looks lovely the style suits you, it’s so annoying when sizing is so inconsistent, my problem is I’m 4ft 10 & very slight a double whammy, when it comes to trying to get clothing that fits & is grown up ifykwim.

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 13:14

Yes dontcallmehelen I remember you saying how petite/slight you are.
If you like the Hush vibe I wouldn’t give up as it really is a matter of trial and error, and a lot of the ivy style/swing dresses like the ones never was wearing upthread would probably really suit you in an XS
The only proviso is if you’re really tiny (4-6) then even a Hush XS might be too big for you 😢
What size skirt did you order?

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 13:18

And thank you for the kind comment, I don’t think my poor selfie skills do the Kensington any favours but when you consider I’m a overweight and also quite short it’s a flattering style and for once just posting cause I’m happy to keep it, it just “feels” really comfortable, fair quality for the price and will be super useful and different for my work trips

neveradullmoment99 · 18/05/2018 13:18

Soyo that dress really suits you. Its a keeper :)

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 13:19

never Flowers

neveradullmoment99 · 18/05/2018 13:19

Its longer than on cherries - probably just a height thing? Also the shoes look great with it.

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 13:28

Yes it’s pretty long on me (2” shorter than cherries maybe more?) but because of the uneven (is it called handkerchief?) hem there are shorter bits on the side and with a small block heel I’m okay with the length, also easy to dress down with flat sandals at the weekend.
I’m full of Hush ❤️ this week Smile

ilovecherries · 18/05/2018 13:30

It does look longer - think being able to wear decent shoes with it helps lift it out of staid as well. I'm a bit torn by it - it was definitely going back, but then husband saw me in it with different hair later on and spontaneously said 'oh, I like that'. So then I felt a bit mean to be saying that I was sending it back.

ilovecherries · 18/05/2018 13:31

I'm 5'7. I used to be 5'8 though Angry.

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 13:38

cherries you know I liked it on you, but I hadn’t “felt” the fabric, swishy skirt with pockets at that point and I think you should keep, it’s a really useful work dress imho which you can throw on in the summer and forget about. A slight vintage vibe too...listen to DH Grin

happytobemrsg · 18/05/2018 13:42

Thanks for confirming everyone. I'm still working my way through this thread so I'm hoping to get ideas from you all

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 18/05/2018 14:05

Just got baby blue raglan and black harems. I've decided harems definitely aren't for me - they just don't look right. I thought with some other ones I had that it was the colour I didn't like, but no - no more harems for me!

I took a photo of the top but saw too much of my face in the photo and it thoroughly depressed me. Turned 40 this year and my jowls seem all jowly and my face looks scowly when I think I'm just looking normal, and everything just looks horrid. Hair's wrong, eyebrows are wrong, I don't even know where to start. It's horrible to realise how relentless this all is.

(and this, it occurs to me, is the exact mood in which I go on the Hush website and hope the clothes will turn me into someone else!).

neveradullmoment99 · 18/05/2018 14:12

Seek You are only 40! I am sure you are nothing like you make out. I am 50 and feel that sometimes I look so old but then I put on a pop of colour and it lifts my mood and makes me feel better :)

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 18/05/2018 14:21

Thanks Never - I guess we all have those moments, right? (And then we add-to-basket..... Wink)

neveradullmoment99 · 18/05/2018 14:26

Absolutely we do :) Some days I look shit. Other days I think not bad. Many people are shocked when I say my age. They often say I don't look it. I think of my mum when she was my age and she looked ancient. I look nothing like her. I kind of think about the positives when I am a bit low. Then I look at my Hush basket ha ha ha.....

neveradullmoment99 · 18/05/2018 14:29

Also, something to bare in mind.
I always think I look terrible when my photo is taken. I get quite upset about it. Time marches on and then I look back and I think I look great. I also remember how I thought I looked shit!!!
I think to myself that I must have looked ok then. So I hang on to that. There is no point in fixating on it. Tomorrow you will always be a day older so enjoy today.

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 14:34

seek harems for me are strictly home wear too and Pilates (just love their comfort) and like you I don’t feel they do me favours to go out and about in. You may prefer Amies?
Please don’t be down on yourself I’m mid fifties (16 years older than you 😱) and I’m determined to love the person looking at me in the mirror these days, we’re just in an ageist instagram/photoshop society bombarding us with unreal standards of beauty and youth.
And selfies when you’re trying to show the clothes are never ever flattering so that you know I really flinched at some of the pics of myself I uploaded on this thread and have tons of others where I’m laughing and much less self conscious where I look okay.
Tell yourself you are beautiful just as you are every time you look in the mirror Flowers
Hush is flattering but so are other brands. In this thread you will find complete non judgemental and honest, but never mean spirited, feedback

dontcallmelen · 18/05/2018 14:38

Awww @SeekEveryEveryKniwnHidingPlace yy pp some wise words.
I think we can all have moments of feeling a bit low about ourselves also I think it’s really really difficult to capture a good selfie, the light the way we are standing the funny faces we all pull.
💐

dontcallmelen · 18/05/2018 14:40

SoyYo has expressed it much more eloquently than me.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 18/05/2018 14:41

Bless you both! I know - I look back on photos from ten years ago and I think, how did you ever feel unhappy with the way you looked, you fool? And obviously that'll be the same ten years hence.

And yeah, selfies for clothes are buggers for capturing the chin you never knew you had, right?

Soy I do have some amies, but the only thing is that I find the zip annoying on my ankle when curled up to watch TV or on a plane, although the rest of the time I really like how it looks. I think I'll swap for some Amies though - I've been quite keen on the stripey ones for a while!

SoyYo · 18/05/2018 14:53

Indeed seek in my youth I was a looker and I know this now only with the benefit of hindsight, looking at old photos and at the time I used to get so many compliments and no shortage of male attn yet...I didn’t think I was that great.
Now I think like never in 15 years time I’ll think I looked pretty good in my fifties and so I’m going to embrace who I am now (with a little help from fashion)
So onwards and upwards I say! 💪
Try those stripy Amies next Smile

Ellapaella · 18/05/2018 15:26

Everyone looking lovely in their new purchases and Hush outfits today. I'm not Hushing it today as I'm at work in a boring old uniform. Just having a catch up on here on my coffee break.
We are running close to the end of another thread - we seem to be averaging one thread per month, every time pay day draws close another thread seems to end! Anyone up for starting the next one? I don't mind doing but am unsure how to link the previous thread.
