I was just joking!

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 14:52

laska Grin on AIBU thread and goth looks...DS2 who's finishing his music degree this year is such a goth that it takes me back to my youth (I was more rocknroll happy vibe but still wore a lot of black and it's stuck)
Regarding voluminous dresses again it's just personal preference, I'm just 5'3" with DH and DS @6'4" tall I always feel midget like next to them and when you're vertically challenged you have to be VERY careful with horizontal volume. If you're tall it looks fabulous

Ellapaella · 11/05/2018 15:02

Wow cherries I love that black (Alanis I think?) dress on you, it looks very sophisticated in an effortless way. I looked at your pictures and while they are all lovely that one made me do a double take, tres chic!

Laska5772 · 11/05/2018 15:05

The 12 fitted also i just went for the bigger one .. its not a great photo..

Laska5772 · 11/05/2018 15:12

Looks better when im standing up straight and smiling ..(and when im a stone lighter and those wretched boobs will have shuink) Well i have it now.

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 15:19

laska I'm also tempted by the panel maxi, I think I'll order both the black Alana and panel maxis in 2 sizes to compare fed up waiting for discount code, risk it being ooo
Looking at the pic it doesn't look as big on you as the orange version on cherries but there again what made me say size down was the reflection on the mirror so not sure if it's got lots of fabric at the back...
In any case it doesn't look huge on you but rather flows without clinging 👍

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 15:31

laska Yes boobs..I don't mind my 34FF's except they're bloody tricky to dress and avoid looking top heavy, this dress doesn't emphasise them so don't worry!
This is the reason I end up returning a lot of Hush dresses: too short and show wrinkly knees (in summer without tights), fitted 10 or 12 are good on me but boobs get squashed and if I size up it fits boobs but huge everywhere else! Angry
Is the cotton stretchy on this style?

cherries I know you're also well endowed, was the Alana in pic a 12?

I suit fitted "bombshell" type dresses but don't like the style or drawing attn to my "assets" and much prefer relaxed cool vibe dresses but lack the straight up and down figure (and height) for them.
So far the only successful Hush dress purchase to date was last summers' spaghetti strap black maxi dress with tiny gold stars (can't remember name), I've returned every single one since then 😢

AFingerofFudge · 11/05/2018 16:43

Very excited here. I don't live near any John Lewis but might have the chance to go to one tomorrow! Well you can guess exactly where I'll be headed if so. I much prefer feeling the clothes rather than catalogue shopping, especial with Hush's erm, slightly questionable fabrics at times.
Will report back if it comes off!

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2018 16:47

Laska the dress looks perfect on you :)

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2018 16:50

I love black and wear it frequently. I have ordered [ I know I said I wouldn't but they were low in stock] the Audrey trousers - I have a bit of a tummy so they may not fit me. The reviews say they are generous on the waist and neat on the legs so they sound like my type of trousers. Also ordered the red shirt dress in ski red. It would suit my lifestyle and the animal print tee before it goes out of stock.
A bit gutted that the animal print ivy is OOS and it didn't come back in at all this morning :(

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2018 16:51

Was considering ordering the shorts but its not set to be warm any time soon so not going to buy just to have them sit in a drawer.

Cherries what did you keep?

ilovecherries · 11/05/2018 17:04

I’m lucky still to have both my parents very healthy at 85. This is the first year they’ve demurred about a holiday, but when I asked if it would help if I went along as well, they jumped at it. Then insisted on paying for me, which I hadn’t intended at all. My ILs are both dead now, but we still miss them, esp my FIL who couldn’t have been kinder to me since the day I met him. And DH and I are just about to have our 38th anniversary (child bride Wink).

Right, I have in my possession the two dresses I showed you, plus the colourblock maxi(at least one of these will be returned) and the Venice in blue and hibiscus. At least one of these also to be returned. Not allowed more photos today though, so will get your views over the W/e.

I also have a mint velvet utility jacket (accidental purchase!) and a pair of fugly but v comfy sandals from Clarks.

I tried the 10, and while it possibly was better everywhere else, my 32Ks weren’t having it.

ilovecherries · 11/05/2018 17:06

Lots of posts while I was writing my magnum opus. Will read later, but yes, the black maxi was a 12.

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 17:22

Nice haul cherries! SmileThx for heads up on Sizing
never Audrey trousers? 🤔I can't find them on website...only the Audrey jacket, good call on trying other things on while still in stock.
nearly Flowers chin up! What a stressful time you've had! No wonder your immune system gave up and you came down with flu...If you own the "que sera, será" t shirt now is a good time to wear it, hope you feel better soon and as someone said to me recently "trust your journey"...
fingeroffudge do report back!

neveradullmoment99 · 11/05/2018 17:29

I am thinking Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn trousers ha ha... Not Audrey!!!

Nearlyadoctor · 11/05/2018 17:30

Thanks SoyYo non of it is massive in the grand scheme of things and I probably haven't worded it all that well just needed to offload somewhere really !

I love the maxi dress on you Laska , they always have too much fabric for me somehow. Although I really like the Alanis in the white with stars but as I'm pale think I'd look too washed out. I like the black on Cherries though.

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 17:44

nearly you said it: we all have our demons. On DC best to move BEFORE Sec School, so timing may be a blessing in disguise as moving home once their teenage hormones really kick in around 13/14 and they turn into "Kevin" till they emerge civilised at 18 is more of a challenge. Trust me I've got two boys!
You can live precariously through our purchases in the meantime and give us all a challenge by telling us how you're styling your existing Hush wardrobe. Let's be creative?

My next challenge will be I have 2 long work trips coming up: US for a week (off on a Sunday as well so better make the most of this one) return and after weekend straight off to Paris for another long week...I'm telling myself I can do it but the thought exhausts me already! Confused

SoyYo · 11/05/2018 17:51

never ooh the Hepburn trousers would be super useful for upcoming work trips, specially if matched with the "Audrey" black jacket (now we mentioned it) so let us know what you think on receipt.

Right I don't post for weeks and then I post all the time 🤣 There you go, off to get on with my weekend now.
Wishing you all a fabulous one!

Laska5772 · 12/05/2018 10:17

oh gawd I keep looking at that hideous photo.. [vain person alert]...
My arms!. ..the good news is I have already lost 2.5 lbs since Thursday when i restarted LC and 16:8 in earnest.... I AM going to lose that extra stone and a half. I have gained since last spring . ..(hopefully before holiday.. )..I gained it after i had an accident (fell off my micro scooter - literally flat onto my face (which wasnt pretty ) and as a result had then had month s of killing sciatica, when all i did was comfort eat and drink.

JL have just texted to say that new order is arrived and I have also decided to go over the water to JL Southampton tomorrow to try on some stuff.. been looking at their website and quite like some of the Kin range and some of their own range linen things (as well as Hush0

ilovecherries · 12/05/2018 10:24

You look great Dave. I'd love salt waters, but think they are too flat for my leg. I'm currently breaking in my fugly Clarks ones. Grin

Laska, you are much harsher on yourself than anyone else. Discovered yesterday it's impossible to have flattering arms when trying to take a selfie. I love JL. I spent hours there in Newcastle yesterday. I like the and/or range as well.

Ellapaella · 12/05/2018 11:13

Looking good there Dave.
After much deliberation over shorts (oh the hours spent contemplating Monaco versus Tulum) I've actually gone with a pair of Boden chino shorts. Having seen a friend in a pair looking very chic and reading the reviews, I've decided to try them instead. £50 though! I got a 20% off code but they were still very expensive so hope they live up to expectations.
