I have to say I'm with laska and really not sure about it. It may be because it is just a bit big on you. I think the frilly bits are all a bit fussy and it looks too big especially under the arms. I think you have a great figure I just think you may need the smaller size.

SoyYo · 10/05/2018 16:31

Thanks Laska, Dave for comments on beach pic. DH took it as I was walking back after paddling so doesn't show the clothes in detail but at least it's RL and a happy vibe. I found I could beach walk and then go straight into a fairly respectable restaurant wearing that (with scarf/shawl more artfully arranged than in pic). Very versatile 👍

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 16:31

I am sure if you try in the morning a smaller size will come back in stock.

Ellapaella · 10/05/2018 16:39

SoYo I love your beach pic, very stylish! I love those Monaco trousers and was gutted that they were just too short for me.
Dave I like the dress, it's really nice and it would be great for going out on summer evenings, would definitely be a good outfit for a gig and also casual with a pair of flip flops or your saltwaters. The only thing I'm not keen on is the flouncy sleeves... but that's just me. I had a similar sleeved top last summer and actually got a seamstress to sort the sleeves out, that could be an opinion for you?

I actually like the sleeves..I think it's a bit of a throwback to my goth days Grin

I'm going to hang on to it for now and see if an 8 comes back.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:01

soyoGreat picture. You look great in your trousers - very chilled. It looks like a beautiful beach Envy

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:02

Dave Good idea to keep a hold of it and see if an 8 comes into stock. If not, keep the 10 :)

Laska5772 · 10/05/2018 17:17

.....and dont forget to keep checking John Lewis.Dave I have found things come back on there randomly and at odd times (I once looked on a sat evening and found something that had been OOS earlier in the day, (i think it was the yellow love sweatshirt ) ..and have swiped a few 'sold out' things from them from other brands previously ..

DavetheCat2001 · 10/05/2018 17:23

Will do...boo, I really like the dress, but I can totally see what people are saying about it looking too big.

OH will kill me if he finds out I've ordered another expensive dress too! Blush

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:23

The animal print ivy is OOS now too! It was fully in stock yesterday!

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:25

Say you got it in the sale!!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:27

I always Knock a few quid off it! I very often order things when he is at work and I am at home and then appear wearing them. He very rarely asks me if its new. He has no idea what I have!!

DavetheCat2001 · 10/05/2018 17:40

Actually to be fair, my OH is pretty clueless too on what I've bought. I'll often put something on I've had for eons and he'll say he's never seen it before!

I think because I have recently started a new job after 18 months of unemployment (following a period of depression/anxiety that I am still battling), I have gone a bit bonkers when really I should be reigning it in as we have no spare cash...feeling a tad guilty now.

I think just seeing a bit of money in my bank account again has sent my head spinning a bit. Thing is I'm only part time and it isn't much, so I need to call a halt here really. If I was being sensible I'd just return the dress and think no more of it, but there is something about getting new stuff that just gives me such a boost.

DavetheCat2001 · 10/05/2018 17:41

Sorry...big share there Blush

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:55

I'm the same. I really shouldn't spend so much and need to pull back but it is hard when there are so many nice things and it makes me feel great wearing some of the hush things. My dh is pretty clueless and does exactly what yours does. Says is something knew when I have had it for ages and doesn't bat an eyelid if something is new!!!
Well done for getting better Flowers. I have suffered from mild anxiety/stress and depression on and off.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 17:56

And well done getting your job Flowers

DavetheCat2001 · 10/05/2018 17:58

Thanks never

I've been unwell on and off since my first child was born (undiagnosed PND I'm sure), and that coupled with the sudden death of my father and various other things, I've been a bit of a mess in the last few years!

I'm definitely better than I was with, but I do seem to take a lot of comfort and joy from online shopping, which is clearly a dangerous past time!

Sorry to hear you have suffered too. It's bloody awful x

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 18:08

Thanks :) Retail therapy is probably not the best thing too but I have always loved clothes. Online shopping is a curse!

ilovecherries · 10/05/2018 18:17

I feel I'm just emerging from the depressed hole that was my life from mid forties to mid fifties, to be honest. Spent most of them with a morphine patch on in THE most horrific pain. Now I feel immeasurably better after a very lucky operation and then a five stone weight loss, I really feel I'm making up for lost time. It's been such a long time since I could look in the mirror and like the person I see - not just physically, but emotionally and mentally (now I'm not in an opiate haze my brain fog has lifted)- that new clothes are part of the change. I do feel I'm probably a bit selfish with my spending at the moment, but I just love having options now.

ilovecherries · 10/05/2018 18:18

It's never just about the clothes, is it?

DavetheCat2001 · 10/05/2018 18:33

Nope...I lost a chunk of weight a couple of years ago too, and suddenly found myself interested in myself again rather than just slobbing around in a haze of self-hatred and depression.

Laska5772 · 10/05/2018 18:39

Dave I hope you didn't think I was being a bit over critical about the dress. it is lovely on you ,but yes still think it needs to be smaller to look really fab!. Well done on getting a job again , and well done for coming through depression.

Re retail therapy.. it can be dangerous...and discovering S&B on MN hasn't always been good for me.

I had a period of difficulty few years ago when i got myself into ££££s credit card debt.(a 4 figure debt in the bottom quarter of the scale but it was enough to get me panicking) .This was mainly from shopping to 'cheer myself up'. after a difficult time with my (late teen , now adult ) DS (which is still going on , on and off) ..

Also because I could 'afford' it, ( however I couldn't really as I never paid off the card and at that time never looked at what was still to be credited to my card , ! ( daft i know) ..Anyway that's over now, All paid. and actual savings in the bank.. ( all helped by lots of support from some great Mnetters on the money threads) .

I still buy way too much online, but now to keep stuff I have rules.. I have to be able to pay for it there and then ( I pay it off my card as I decide to keep the things) , and I have to absolutely love it to keep it .. If cant do either (or at least the whole card off out of next months pay without going to into debt) then it has to go back..

I never want to feel panicky about credit cards again (or pay them interest!)

( Just sharing my experience , ..not commenting on anyone else Smile)

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 18:40

Very true cherries Flowers I guess we all have a story to tell.

Laska5772 · 10/05/2018 18:44

...One problem though, is loving Hush a bit too much !! Grin but if they keep on messing around with late refunds that may change

neveradullmoment99 · 10/05/2018 18:45

I 'met' you on that thread Laska when you were on the non shopping thread. I have to say you have done very very well. I could never last on it. I do however mostly only pay cash for my purchases and sell quite a lot on ebay but still could do with spending less. I read about someone on S&B that made a point of wearing everything in their wardrobe at least once. That would be a good way of enjoying what you have and spending less...or so you would think. Not easy with hush temptations!
